@@elliotjohnson9415 But we can easily figure out why, he heavily campaigned himself for his position as Geralt as well as he shows so much love for the books and lore. Looking at the Season 2, you can easily see that the writes completely ignored most of the book and went off script as such why would he still act for a show that is supposed to be adapted from the books, but instead doesn't, you can see why he left.

@@elliotjohnson9415 Not outright no but there are a few interviews that heavily points in that direction aswell as with the news that he was battling with the showrunners on an almost daily basis to stay true to the books that rumors started to come out that they wanted to replace him. The scene where Geralt is kneeling and says goodbye to hes horse Roach was entierly scripted by Henry himself. The writers wanted to make it like a semi comedy moment becouse he names all horses Roach and Henry refused to go along with what they wanted to do so they simply told him to come up with the scene. And the next day whats in the series is what he came up with. Many say thats the best scene in Season 2.

Can't even blame Netflix, it's the writers on the project that drove him off. Even former staff on the show have gone on the record that apparently they hated the books and believed they could "do it better", which is the source of the conflicts that culminated in Henry leaving.

The problems of the series are tone, atmosphere, story structure and - the cast. I like Cavill as an actor and his personal attitude. But I don´t think his (or the directors) take on Geralt is the right one. When a videogame character has more personality, more dephts - then you have a problem. The same with the actors of Dandelion, Ciri, Triss... I think the series has its qualities and I don´t mind, if the source material isn´t exactly adapted in another medium. But the original tone should be there. The series - for me - looks cheap the majority of time. That would be ok before Series like GoT shown us all, what you can get from a TV show.

He's genuinely just answering questions clearly meant to make him look a bit silly - but he's doing it with such class that people just end up respecting him more. It's good to see that he's not trying to change for any "Hollywood standards". EDIT: lol, the sheer amount of angry replies from people that think Henry Cavill has the looks and thus lacks insecurities or that he's "nerd privileged"... He's human and yes, I do believe going against the norms (in "Hollywood" in his case) and opening up about nerdy things that make you happy is brave. That he's now announced to be the creator and director on a Warhammer series, for Amazon is a blow too. Cavill is the average geek/gamers icon as far as living a normal life in society with your hobbies out for anyone to see. I mean, obviously his exceptionally good looks, physique, and fame is the stuff that completely sways anyone outside of the hobby to admire him, but the fact he doesn't bother to hide it is brilliant. In fact, it seems like he almost throws shade at people who do try to undermine his hobbies. Sort of like a reality check on the people who don't understand how big and accepted these hobbies really are, in a "you been living under a rock for the last decade?" sort of way. Good on him for that.

There is something really telling here, Henry Cavill gets what he is saying. He knows and is passionate about what he's doing. Moreover, rather than claiming the success of the series for himself, he attributes the success of the series to the dedicated fans, and the production of Netflix. Series one is really problematic, but it is enjoyable. This man cares about what he's doing, and shows humility for the successes him and his peers have made. This is the same reason why I like actors like Viggo Mortensen. @@SlimThrull The series isn't necessarily true to the lore, even by normal re-formatting standards. There are some character backgrounds that aren't lore-accurate (some of which should have been left ambiguous), the episodes can seem kind of hap-hazard if you haven't read the books (which will hopefully change now when they take on the "real" story), and several of the characters in the series break with the established aesthetics and characteristics of samesaid characters both in lore and in game. For a sort of gatekeeper-nerd, of which I consider myself, though the actors in the series are good and Cavill is a godsend, it kind of breaks immersion when it diverts this much from close to decades-old established lore, and not in a reasonable way as in (early-to-mid) GoT, The series almost borders on "inspired by" rather than "based on", if you catch my drift.

The games do a much better job of capturing the tone in the books. The first season of the show is a bit tone deaf at times, and misses the mark. Also some of the story changes made from the books are really stretching. In particular Ciri and the whole part in Brokilon is vastly different in the show than in the books. I'd say the first 5 episodes of the show are fine, despite their errors from the books, but 6 onwards is too much changed. It was extremely intentional from Graham, making fun of geeky hobbies is always an easy laugh. Why do you think he followed Tom's comment up with 'the girls are like, ya don't ask us to come'. Pretty disrespectful tbh. Sure, society sees it as childlike - but that doesn't mean you have to make the joke. Many in society still think being gay is funny, doesn't mean you crack a joke about a guest being gay.

@@Nemtrac5 Graham has joked about being gay as well, it's not that deep. People understand that jokes are jokes and nobody's trying to offend or ridicule anyone. Welcome to Europe.

@@Colphin Graham Norton is gay himself, so that's a bit different. There's also a difference between standup jokes and interview jokes. Idk just seems weird when there isn't anything really creative to the joke just 'haha you like this thing and others don't so it's funny'. To non-sport nerds, obsessing over sports and watching 10 different shows talking about it is silly - but a joke just mocking sports fans wouldn't land because it is socially accepted

Imitation isn't easy, but this guy did it top notch and gave the character a whole new breath to it. Well done, Cavill! Wish you would stick around for season 4.
