Hi, I was the owner of Gulfstream Jeep in Lantana FL for years we restrestored numerous vehicles over the years. I've been dealing with cancer for the last few years and only think it's been bearable watching your videos which I've now begun having to watch many a second time. This post has been without a doubt one of your best if I can say that. I enjoy the food at the end of most posts since I've been on a feeding tube the last few months. Thank you for giving an old car guy something to look forward to each week.

Hello Mr. Mitchell. I'm Greg and I live near Orlando, FL. I retired a couple of years ago and was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinsons. I just want to say that I will keep you in my prayers and wish you all the best as you fight the cancer that has done a number on you. Dennis does have a love of the cars we loved back in the day. I appreciate his knowledge and passion every week. May God bless you and your family. Take good care, sir.

Dennis, this is a long shot but back in the 90s I worked for Al Vanderslice at Speed Frame Engineering in Farmersville CA. Al was huge into drag Mustangs and Shelby stuff, and was a dealer for Holman Moody. He had started building a straight axle 67 Mustang like this one (years before I worked for him). If he's still around, he may have some knowledge of this car that might help authenticate it. Awesome find. Best of luck.

Being from the area. and a kid growing up in the 1960's and 1970's US30 was an important track, but sense this car has a Burbank heritage, don't overlook the Oswego Drag strip that was out in Oswego Illinois. If you were from the area, you knew Bill Wildt, he for many years had a Show Motor Sports Unlimited, unfortunately he passed last year in December. But if you are able to contact his estate, if anyone had film or pictures of this car, he was the guy. It's not much but those old guys from the era that this car is from are still around. Good luck in your search

US 30 Dragstrip was always advertised as being in Gary Indiana. Up until 1971 it was actually in Ross Township on Clay Street about a 1/4 north of US 30. In 1971 the area was incorporated into the town of Merrillville Indiana. The dragstrip closed down in the mid 80s because people started to complain about the noise since new home started to be built. Sunday was race day and the announcer always said Sunday Sunday Sunday. Remnants of the track are still there including the IHRA painted logo at the starting line area. If you Google map US30 and Clay street Hobart Indiana ( the area was annexed by the larger city in the late 90s ) and follow clay street north you can still see the drag strip on the left ( west ). Back in the day Don Garlitts, Don the Snake Prudome and I think even John Force raced there. There’s quite the following for the track by the people that raced and attended races there. I live about 5 miles from the track and grew up in the town from 1976 until 1987. It was cool to see the sticker on the windshield.

I love how he treats them and his crew to dinner,, he really appreciates how hard they work. And he shows It. You get a lot more out of your employees like that. A lot of the other shows they don’t do that just give unrealistic deadlines. I would rather have it done correctly. Even if it takes a little longer. I would like to see some of the shop work when their getting restored

@@mariomarquez5559 It doesn't matter how much money you have, it's about who you are as a person. There's plenty of uber rich people who are mega tight-asses. Dennis is very wealthy for sure, but he's not averse to sharing it around. He understands that when you treat people with respect they will respect you in return. Buying dinner for someone when it's nothing to you is a great example of that. It's not nothing to the people you buy it for, and that's the point. An asshole would never do it because he's only thinking about the money, but Dennis is not that guy.

I worked at a pizza place on the main drag through our town and he would use the car to pick up dinner. A rainy day pulls up leaves the car running the pizza shop had full floor to ceiling windows and we made pizza the guy walks in and no sooner they he got to the counter a drunk just ran into the back of the car smashed the hell out of it. To say what a sad day . I went on to buy a 65 fast back 289 3 speed all ways dreamed of getting a 350 but such is life it stayed a dream. The real sad part I sold that car for $250. The 67 GT350 I owned was #2188. It originally had inboard headlights and it was hit in the front drivers side. The front drivers side inner fender was replaced losing the factory number on that side, and the rear inner fender had a small dent in it. The radiator support was brazed back onto the front cross frame section, and a spot of the support clearly had a weld cut that once held the bracket to mount the inboard headlights. Shelby's are lots of fun looking for tell tail signs of their youth. I thank God that the passenger front inner fender had the original factory VIN number proving my GT350 was authentic.

If this is a US 30 car and spent that much time on the south side of Chicago you need to get a hold of the Messino family. They were the builders and still owners of the Shake Rattle n Run a 1957 gasser. I’d be willing to bet that have run across this car. You also might want to get with some of the old Dukes Drive in folks….

While I have great love for old classic cars , a profound respect for the builders and innovators of the past such as Mr. Shelby and especially his mustangs , I wish there were more people CREATING legends than just trying to preserve what has already been done . These cars were created for a purpose : go fast and capture the public imagination . I would love to see what Dennis could CREATE in this spirit . Heck , for that matter what ALL of us car lovers could create ! I appreciate the efforts to preserve the past but I want tire smoke , the sound of rolling thunder , the feel of the open road lit by headlights with a functional hood scoop framing the view . No disrespect intended but what I DON'T want is an obsessive compulsive hours long discussion on what part # should go where or if it belongs . Get that beautiful piece of machinery out on the road and let it breath the fire it was created for ! Thanks gentlemen and have a nice day !
