First the mechanism: The yellow and the white center cant rotate. Thats it basicly. The other 4 sides have rotating centers, thats why even without a full circle you can turn them. Yellow and white however require a full circle to be turnable. Now for some hints: -Dont worry too much about the color match between the inner and outer circle parts, you can fix that later, first task is getting full circles on both sides. -You only have the 4 outer sides available to build the 2 circles. Thats means making clever use of simple 3-cycles. For example with the classic "down down up up" (F R' F' R) you can 3cycle the edges and 2cycle the corners. By varying the number of cycles here you can move individual pieces around and also flip the edges depending on the starting side. -Orienting the corners was the hardest part in that phase. You can use 2 sides for the algo and store away "good" pieces on the 3rd side -Once both circles are complete, its mostly like a cuboid I have this puzzle too, and its weird little cube. Sometimes i can solve it with ease, but after putting it down for 2 weeks i completly forget the strategy, having to find it over and over again.

I grabbed the cube again and could solve it. Here are some hints in increasing spoilerness: - 1: start out with the white and yellow inner edge parts, regardless of outer edge color. - 2: put in all inner edges at their place. its best to combine this step with the first one - 3: now permute around the corners so all corners with yellow circle parts are on the yellow side and the same with the white - 4: now orient the corners so they point in the correct direction. after this step. both circles should now be complete and color correct - 5: you can now fix all the outer edges with cuboid strategies - 6: now you can permute all the corners correctly, again using cuboid algorithms. the cube should now be solved for 1 and 2 i just use F R' F' R and intuition. for 3 i use a side effect of the F R' F' R algo: it exchanges the FLD and BRD corners. By doing a middle move, you can turn this into a 3-cycle without messing up the edges for 4 you can apply F R' F' R twice, this will rotate the aforementioned corners. again by doing a middle move you can rotate arbitrary corners

Looks like both of the circles need to be aligned to unbandage it, even if the white and yellow bits are mismatched. Once it's unbandaged you can work out ways to shift the little partial edge and corner bits around. And it looks like you WERE able to work around the bandaging enough to get one layer pseudo-solved. So if you work out all the ways you can move the puzzle in spite of the bandaging - maybe even write things down - you can probably figure out a way to get both layers' circles lined up (albeit, with white and yellow bits mismatched). Then, I figure you swap yellow/white bits until the U and D layers are solved and then finish the middle layer. Can't wait to see what you end up doing! I for one don't mind the longer, unedited "figuring it out" vids. I know you're trying to shy away from those types of vids but they're not all bad. An occasional one here and there is perfectly fine 😎

solve for atleast 3 edge first on white(either white or yellow is oriented to place ) then , for solving 4th edge on white..This serves as your keyhole.. After inserting 4th edge piece on bottom ( the other edge piece must opposite to your keyhole )so when you insert your 4th edge , the 5th edge will solve on top(if your 4th edge is on left facing you , the 5th edge must on the left , facing at the back , so when you make a Left down move, piece at the back will orient at the top) repeat until all edge is done. This kinda Yau5 method which leaves you one free edge.

I have one of these, and have never solved it! It's fairly difficult, and I lost motivation to mess with it after some of the tiny stickers fell off and got lost. I should get a new set of stickers and try solving it again, as it's quite an interesting challenge.

The mechanism is easy to notice. The middle circle of the white and yellow circle is locked and wont turn. If each circle gets made, it turns it into a dominoe cube

Hey Chris. I have the fisher wheel of time cube (you did a video on it a few years back) in stickered, and I really want it in stickerless, but it's been discontinued and I can't buy it anywhere. Is there any chance that I can buy yours or exchange mine? I would really appreciate it. If the answer is no, please still let me know.

Yellow and White need to have the circles completed while all other ones can move freely in any state (In essence, the white and yellow "centers" are nothing but extensions of the core itself) algs i'd use: place edges intuitively, and ignore the corners, sledgehammer and variations should do the trick. corners: hold yellow and white on F/D: R U' L' U R' U' L U to place the corners and R' D' R D to rotate. after that you are left with a cuboid

I think the best thing to do is to simply find a way to make the white and yellow layers turn. It turns it into a dominoe cube, of sorts. I realised the mechanism. When you make the white and yellow layer, the centre circle doesnt turn. And the whole layer wont turn without the circle being made. You need to make the white and yellow circles then treat it like a domino cube

I solve a similar puzzle (mine has one face type 1 and one face type 0) by pairing the crazy faces, then solve the face type 0, then i never move that face and the rest as any 3x3x3. It is a 3x3x9 but with one circle that external is disconnected to internal of the circle. 1St: White face (type 0) formed with mix of white and yellow pieces on internal circle. 2nd: Yellow face (type 1) formed with mix of yellow and white pieces on internal circle. 3rd: The 3x3x3 ignoring internal pieces of circles white and yellow but not external ones 4th: Swap yellow/white internal circle pieces from white/yellow FIX: I now understand why some faces (not white, not yellow) of yours do not turn (both faces are type 0), mine has no locks on that sides (because only one face is type 0), so they are different puzzles.

Probably stating the obvious: maybe first complete the opposite faces with complete circles, then devise an algorithm to transfer the pieces across so those opposite circle faces are both all one colour each. Then it's just a 3x3? No idea how. Sorry.

  • @CanChrisSolve

That's a great suggestion! The only issue is that, as a 3x3, the cube will bandage again as soon as the yellow/white layers are broken :) But once the circles are complete, it'd become a 3x3x2... I think!

  • @matthewdodd1262

I do have a suggestion that may solve that issue. Once you build the white and yellow circles, theres nothing stopping you from treating it like a 3x3x2
