there is a fabric-wrapped steel cable about 20cm long which has a complicated path around pulley 4, the pulley to the right of the white plastic arm support plate and a small eccentric adjustment pulley missing on the hole towards number 8. I replaced this cable with fishing line and after many voltage adjustments it works. good luck it is worth the cost of being repaired its rating on the market. The best record player I ever owned.

I've been collecting and repairing Bang&Olufsen gear for 6 years now, and have gotten good at repairing most problems. I bought the cd rom of every b&o manual ever made on eBay, well worth the $25 it cost. To the point, the string that moves the arm on my 5500 turntable has broken, and I'm wondering if it'd be helpful to others if I made a video of the repair? The 3300,5500,6500 etc. series of turntables all use the same basic mechanism and design , so what applies to mine will likely be very similar to another model. Please post or message me if you'd like a video of the repair, and if there's enough interest, I'll take the time to make a video, please just let me know, and I'll go from there. If there's enough interest in this particular video, I might also consider amplifier repair, speaker reckoning etc. please just let me know if there's enough interest for me to go to the trouble of videoing it all! Please make a video! My string is not connected to anything on one end and a band has come off of something between #'s 2 and 4 and I believe a video would be very helpful!

Could you please show a video of re-stringing the internal turntable string around all the parts it need to be connected to and around. This guys video is so vague around crucial points that it doesn't help at all in repairing a turntable!

Have you fixed your problem? I have the exact same problem with a Beogram4500. The only difference is, that I have a loose rope flying around in it. I guess it has to be set between 4 and 8. Beside that, the inner parts look exactly the same. Do you might have a picture of the opened turntable including the exact position of the rope?

Are you still wondering about this deck? Remember: it only works, when a disk is on the platter (or you push the black middle down). If a record is detected, first wheel 6 is activated (half turn) which moves the tonearm in and then wheel 7 (half turn for lower the arm). Motor 2 is only for actuating the arm during play (contolled by a photosensor). The record size is decided by weighing the record. A 7 inch can be lifted during the cycle.

Hello Christof, I messed up a bit with the pulleys and cogs. I am in the process of rebuilding the seized solenoid. But I can not figure out why LIFT and TURN function does not work during play. Help would be appreciated. Regards Marcin

It's actually very possible that it work. What kind of amplifier are you connecting i with. This turntable neds power link and a preamp to work correctly. I had same problem with my beogram 3300 but when i connect it with a beomaster 7000. I runs fine. But i have a feeling that the beomaster 7000 does not have the an integrated preamp, cause the sound is there though very low.

appreciate you posting this video. i've got a 5500 i want to repair, the platter/tonearm are sort of jammed together (as in they move together to a certain point but then stop)

Did tou ever fix this problem? We seem to have the same or a similar problem. The the platter and tonearm are stuck. And unfortunately they ate stuck in a position, where the tonerarm is located in a position not close enough to the center as to enable us to open the whole thing and ger a better overview. Did tou ever find out what made the platter/tonearm stay stuck? All best Nana

@@nanavaaben5376 unfortunately not - i took mine to a repair shop known for working on b&o stuff. (benny @ modular electronics) he opened it up and determined that a particular plastic part had broken, and he'd have to source it from a donor. i ended up leaving it with him.

The part labeled 8 in the video broke on mine where the cable attached to it. I used a small zip tie in the hole where the two ends of the cable would have attached and it’s as good as new.

There has to be a rope between 4 and 8.

Look in the service manual, also. It is the same turntable as a BeoGram 3000(not the old one), 3300, 3500, 4500, 5005, 5500, 6500, 7000, 8500, 9000, 9500, TX2. You miss the wire on pulley 4
