Oh totally! I can't see a distance for shit, so I watch eventing vids and count the strides three before the jump in an attempt to practice seeing distances.
I have never seen anyone catch up to someone on a cross country course. EESH! Well ridden and he was heckin fast!

Q Tee oh....my first ever event (UNH ‘83) I was a teenager and didn’t understand the rules...thought I was supposed to go slower than the time listed (yeah, I know...) so I trotted between many of the fences....and was passed by the next rider a few jumps from home. Ridiculous time faults, but I got to ride stadium clear and complete the event. OMG SO EMBARRASSING. My trainer then realized how young and dumb I was...so she spelled it all out for me and I ended up winning my 2nd event, a few months later.

Oh, yeah, it certainly can happen. Especially if the person ahead of you is having problems and you aren't. I had to SCREAM at someone to get out of the way at the water once. They were already eliminated, but they kept trying, ignoring the fence judge telling them to clear out, etc. They BARELY got out of the way, even though I was checking my horse back as I approached. There is a famous story from the 1960 Rome Olympics, back when there were bonus points for finishing under time and also the courses were not snow fenced, so you were allowed to find shorter ways to go. The Aussie team had found those short cuts, and on the second roads & tracks, one of them came dropping down onto a road IN FRONT of the rider who had started before him. That rider totally freaked and took off at a gallop. (The Aussies won the team gold, and, I think, individual gold and silver, finishing on a plus score, which was possible at the time).

I remember being at an event where people were bending over or laying on the ground out of the bounds of fences that had been set up. Annoyed me so much, it was stupid, and it could get them injured or throw a rider off. The people walking on the course reminded me of it, it’s irritating.
I love how she encourages her horse even when he missed strides or he nicked his feet that’s what I love about some equestrians some others unfortunately hurt there horse or yell at them with they do something wrong but this made me smile so that you for this video 💗

If the internet had been a thing back when I used to compete it would be an endless stream of vids with me going "Okie doke c'mon pony let's roll... good lad! Ooh good job nicely WWAAAAHHH!! Whoops!! WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!" Hang on hang fire just take your OOOOSH WTF? Nearly went arse over tit then ya pillock slow it down.. WHEEEE!! OOOH GOOD LAD GOOD JOB!!" It'd be just an endless amount of noises and whooops and wheeeeeeeeeee with the odd swear and reminder about not being a pillock and not getting freaked out by a portaloo or rogue crisp packet. Never bothered about dogs getting onto the course and chasing us, low flying aircraft directly overhead or the noise of tannoys and whistles but God forbid there was a crisp packet rolling somewhere off in the distance. Some horses prefer not having riders talk too much and get distracted but I chattered and jabbered on like a budgie to mine all the way. Still do. You're right though it's sad how many riders either don't know their horse or have enough respect to call time and pull up when they've had enough. This lad doesn't know the meaning of "had enough" he must be such good fun to ride.
@panther6958

People that yell at their horses or hurt them are usually trained that it's what they should do, and I think it's pretty sad. The rider thinks they are correcting their horse that way, but in my opinion, it's best to just laugh and try again until your horse gets it right.

Wow! I love how when you are half way over the jump, in mid air, you’re already looking around and planning your next move. That, kids, is the mind of a champion.

“Oh god, trash cans are scary! But we’ll jump off cliffs...” 😂
What a rock star in the making, just loved it when you finished and he was like OK any more? 🐎
Now that's what I call an enthusiastic horse! He really flew over the whole course, it's insane.
I saw you on the livestream! The announcers seemed pretty peeved as well about the people on the course. You and Slew Killed it!
We'll jump tables, logs and logs into water, but heaven forbid there be a trash can coming home!! He seemed to pick his feet up after a few times of knocking his toes on them. But he really handled himself well, even when he jumped 1/2 a stride off, he really stepped up and jumped it well anyway. So proud to see Munson Slew's progress with you!! Thank You so very much for sharing these extended videos with us. How you are working with Eton this year, really helped me with a stud Hanovarian that I had from the beginning of May to Thursday the 22nd of August. He was recovering from a tendon injury that needed surgery on it, but he had a very high flight response just like Eton. So I took a page from your training techniques, and when he went home, he had manners on the ground and was truely a gentleman. I guess the owner really liked how well I did with him, because there was a bit of a surprise in my final payment for the work done!! So I, and I'm sure many other subscribers come away from watching your videos, a better rider, trainer or rehabilitator. Best Regards from Ontario, Canada, and a fan who has been following you since you started your KZread Channel, Jenn.

Thanks for uploading so quickly. I watched the stream, but it looks so different from this perspective. You were robbed of camera time on the stream, but it was fun to see what was there. The commentators agreed...the rider in front of you should have pulled over. Love that you’re showing the trip back to the barn.

It was streamed on useventing.com/. And, there were a couple commentators giving color. I’m sure hoping the show jumping will be shown tomorrow, too, but it’s not the best designed website, so cant tell if that’s the plan or not. I’m just going to tune in early and see what I can find.
You are very fast 😰😅 It looks realy nice, I like the way you handle your horse😊
Munson loves this event. I have to tell you, watching via the helmet cam as you went through this course with his speed and hearing your breathing caused all kinds of anxiety for me. I caught myself lifting as you came to each jump as if I was helping you get over them. LOL! Great video none-the-less.
What the heck was that! People just freaking sprawled freaking everywhere. And to have 2 horses on course that close is crazy!

So blessed to see this handsome man in action!! Can’t wait to see you rock stadium tomorrow.
That is one swell horse. When you first started working with him, you said he seemed a bit insecure, but now he's like, "Bring it on, Mom. If things go a bit awry, you can count on me to make minor adjustments on the fly." It's a great partnership. Munson trusts you and wants you to feel comfortable trusting him, so everyone can move forward boldly.
Had to watch it again to realize you were encouraging the rider ahead to get a move on :)
Amazing Munson! He is the corvette of cross country!
So fun to watch! Loved seeing the variety of the jumps.
He wasn’t even breathing hard at the end !! He’s a beautiful machine! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍
Holy crap! Hauling ass!! With happy tears 😭 I say Great job!!! Your amazing as is Munson!!
I love how the horse's ears are pricked. it seems like the horse loves jumping and that makes me happy to watch
That was an amazing video. You could feel the incredible energy given off by Munson. If the video were any longer, I don’t think I’d have any fingernails left. Those perky ears show his game. I am in complete awe of you Elisa. Just remarkable! Thanks so much!
Oh man, we see this far to often in the UK too. Far to many people not paying attention to the course, and just walking in front of fences. So frustrating. Well done and Good Job!
What a mover! Munson the Rocket! You almost caught the previous rider! I've NEVER seen that. Wow.
I love how you reward him and the two of you work together.
So very proud of you guys!! Came out ready for work; fantastic work ethic! Kept his head together even when things started to unravel.( slow rider and people being horse bait! ) awesome, business like ride. 👍🐴

What a machine! So fast! So well done. That last corner was perfection!
You did so well I actually had a smile on my face while watching this and you should be extremely proud
Love the happy ears through the whole course, you can tell he really loves doing it. Great footage!
I love your horse and your Idea with the helmet cam because I have a special feeling when your horse is jumping

It's amazing what our horses will do for us.
Love love your positive messages
Wow you two had a great ride looks like so much fun and he is so brave and seems to really enjoy his new job. I never had the privilege to ride a thoroughbred but would love too, I always had quarter horses. We use to have one of us be the fox and we would chase them through the woods and over whatever was there which was a lot of fun but nothing like your cross country courses. Have fun and be safe. Love watching you work and your videos.
Oh wow, Munson looks so good! I really hope I can be like you one day, working and riding horses! I know it’s a whole lot of work, but I want to be a professional eventer, or at least a show jumper!
Watching you ride was scary for me 😂 I know how it feels to go faster, but you guys just smoked it and jumping to. That’s amazing.

Well done! I was spectating Wednesday and dearly wished they would have roped or ground-painted a few safe places for spectators to stand. We lost our course map and not everyone took the same routes! I wound up skulking from tree to tree to fence judge trying to stay out of the way.......
