Honestly I feel sorry for Stolas. Seems pretty clear he is in a forced marriage that he is really unhappy in, and all he wants is to have real happiness. He's a caring dad to Octavia but he's also unhappy where he is. But he probably only stays for her. Hope that Stolas gets more story to him. Maybe some happiness can go his way too.

Same here, man. Part of me hopes one of the first, if not the first, people he may end up telling his troubles to more thoroughly is Blitzo. While it might seem like an odd choice, I think Blitzo assumes Stolas only wants him for physical reasons. But honestly, I really wouldnt be surprised if Stolas does love Blitzo for more than just that, but he's so blunt/shameless, he comes off lusting outside of much else. But perhaps if Blitzo realizes that Stolas is just downright unhappy and what-not, it might open up a rare soft spot for us to see in Blitzo. Whether it be out of pity for Stolas or potential willingness for romance, who knows. But I think we have a good chance at getting more story for Stolas, definitely :)

if you guys haven't noticed, the mother doesn't really care for Octavia. Stolas is the only one trying to take care of her. here's my reason why i say this: when Octavia starts crying for the mother and father, the mother says " you can do it " (something like that, idk) meaning that she's not there for her. who takes care of Via majority of the time? stolas. who tries to be a good father, even though the world around them is crumbling down? Stolas. who tries to cheer her up when she's scared/ when she's depressed? STOLAS. that's my reasoning on why the mother isn't there for her.

Everyone’s praising this song, but no one’s talking about that tear jerking conversation with Octavia and Stolas at the end. Stolas isn’t a perfect parent but tries to make his daughter happy anyways. The way Octavia said “Go away where I can’t find you” hit hard as we get a sweet moment of her in the start of the episode talking about how she hates to be isolated from her dad. I really hope Helluva Boss has more episodes like this in the future. Vivienne is absolutely knocking it out of the park.

Stolas is an amazing character. He honestly one of my favs. He doesn’t want to leave Octavia even tho he’s not happy with his relationship. He still stays with Octavia tho. He’s such a good dad. ❤️🥺

I know there is a huge irony there, but I think villains make better dads (well, parents in general) because they understand evil in its nuances. They know the darkness of the world and are more apt to prepare them for it, rather than simply saying that those evils are wrong and must be vanquished. Villain dads are honest and real, hero dads spark the wishful hopes that kill pleasant dreams.

Every time he is about to fullfill his evil plan he has doubts and feel guilty. He causes trouble just to catch Pepe's attention coz he needed someone to heal his trauma. This song and the scenes with it is one of the reasons the show took off. It showed that while Stolas could have a creepy side to him, there was a caring side to him, something the entire second episode carried through to the end. It made it more touching.

"Except for one" was really touching, obviously Stella doesn't feel this way but it's a good thing Octavia has nothing to fear.

This song to me does have deeper meaning to me. Stolas is a very rich person, as he has said. And the comment below by Rae ShadowFox makes so much sense it makes me feel sad for Stolas. But I have a feeling there is so much more to Stolas then we all know. He is a person who is (most likely) in a forced marriage who is looking for love and happiness. Hence Blitzo who he is simping for. When he says " I used to think I was bold, I used to think love would be fun" It makes me think that maybe one he loved his wife but things got worse. He loves his daughter with all his heart and wants to protect her from the sad truth of his marriage. Which is maybe one reason why he couldnt tell her. Stolas, you poor hell bird Prince~

I don't think it's an arranged marriage, Octavia said it herself when she was a child everything was simpler and the two owls loved each other. I think Stolas loved her before and then the relationship deteriorated over time, as you say.

Stolas is a good father. He may not know what to do but he has a spirit of a good father inside him, he just doesn’t know how to let it out to his daughter. But the fact that he’s singing a song about how his daughter will be okay even when he is dead especially since she has a fear of her parents abandoning her is a really sweet thought.

This song is another reason why I like this universe that has been created by everyone over at Vivziepop. This raunchy but yet wholesome animated series just fills a niche that I wish there was more of. I think what I'm liking so much about the show so far has to because it has a soul? This lullaby has a ton going on in the lyrics. There's a weight behind those words and the bitter foreshadowing that Stolas can see the fate approaching. There's so many delicious ways to interpret the lyrics and the implications. Yet despite all of that I think we have one of the most heartwarming moment from the series up until this point so far. It just makes it feel so much worse when we cut to present where everything is not okay. I think anyone who's been unfortunate enough to remember their parents loudly arguing like that attest to how shitty it feels. And usually the best thing to do mentally is to block it out as best as you can. Octavia is honestly my mood for this shitty fucking year. And probably for allot of others as well.

What really gets me is that this is a remarkably comforting song about a father preparing his daughter for his own decline and eventual death. "I used to think that I was bold / I used to think love would be fun. / Now all my stories have been told / except for one." There is only one last story any of us have - it is the story of our death. Stolas is telling his daughter what it was like for him to be young - that he thought he was brave enough to take on anything, that he thought love would be a walk in the park. But now he's old enough to see it isn't so, and that the only new story left for him is his leaving, forever. But he doesn't let this story be a sad one. "As the stars start to align / I hope you'll take it as a sign / that you will be okay. / Everything will be okay. And when the seven rings (of hell) collapse, / although the day could be my last / Everything will be okay. " There is an order in the universe, he assures her. Even the destruction of the world will be okay, because - "... When creation goes to die / You can find me in the sky / Upon the last day / And you will be okay." Because in destruction, they will be reunited. Inevitably. No matter what happens in between.

Ok, but imagine this.. IF stolas dies in a future episode, the most heartbreaking way he could die is in Octavia's arms singing this, im ACTUALLY CRYING

Stolas is pretty damn powerful vivzie said he would leave alastor in the dust in terms of abilities in a qna (link:kzread.info/dash/bejne/pGiCy82QmtzMnJc.html [1.33.43]) so if he is gonna die it has to be something big also considering that he owns the book which blitz uses to come to the living world he has quite a bit of padding as far as plot armor is concerned.

I always liked Stolas, always felt there was more to him than just being someone who slept with Blitzo occasionally. This episode made me very happy, I really hope they develop Stolas and show him growing as a person and hopefully getting out of his failed marriage

0:22 this part is so incredibly effective at informing Stolas' character, it's amazing.

This song makes me miss my dad he passed away in 2016 from from stage 4 prostate cancer that spread to his brain literally the last coherent thing that he said to me two day’s before he passed was “You will be ok”...

I know exactly what your going through. I lost my oldest uncle on my dads side to prostate cancer. He was only around 55-57 somewhere around there when he died. So believe me I know exactly what your going through. Your not alone❤

The animation in that scene was absolutely incredible

Stolas is just trying to be who he wants to be after having to marry the wife. He's tired of being married and do what he wants.

I can never just turn on a song and fall asleep, but now I need to try it with this one. It's... surprisingly calming, almost majestic? It's harder to describe than you might have thought. Sadness, hopefulness, tenderness and serenity are basically all you can really describe the song with. Seems impossible considering that this man BLEW UP A GALAXY WHILE SINGING ONE OF THE BEST LULLABIES EVER.

I think that just foreshadows Stolas' possible death in the series. That would make sense and just imagine a sadder version of song as Octavia react to her father's death and then the credits roll.

This song really touched me, even more than Addict did. I love both! Stolas was always a favorite of mine, but this episode really cemented my feelings of him as my favorite character in HB.

Honestly.. part of me wouldnt be surprised if it's a foreshadow. Especially since he just seems like such a nice guy who'd do anything for the people he enjoys (such as his daughter and Blitzo). Him being like the prince of hell, though, has me kinda doubting the idea he's gonna die because he's a powerful, potentially important character. But this show is also pretty brutal sometimes, so I wouldnt put it past Viv if she wants to rip our hearts out in the future ):

@@kirin1230 Maybe he will somehow end up a victim of an extermination, I’m not too aware of the lore and don’t know if overlords can actually die from the exterminators or not, or just can’t be a victim at all. It is entirely possible, and the fools in the second episode who attempt to hurt or do whatever they wanted to do to stolas could, but it’s highly unlikely due to him just being able to respawn due to him being a demon of course, unless some how they have the certain weapons to kill him.

@@alastortheradiodemon5438 Hellbound demons likely die naturally and aren't immortal like sinners. I think hellborn demons actually do fear death. Otherwise blitzo's team and the imps after stolas wouldn't be so afraid of guns.

Stolas singing this song makes me want to cry. I know he was singing this song to his daughter and maybe us, but it's so peaceful and I'm glad you made this video keep up the great work. Don't ever give up ^^

Head canon for Stolas: His marriage was something he didn’t want but only stayed because of Octavia. I personally think that he really did want Blitzo but I think either imps can’t be with overlords or Blitzo thinks that Stolas only wants him for “the nightly deed”, he just couldn’t say it to Blitzo’s face. Blitzo only sees the thirsty owl (or so Blitzo had said in episode five) side of Stolas, but he doesn’t see the caring and at the same time unhappy side of Stolas. I really liked when sung this song in the second episode tho.

“How silence grows under the moon” I don’t know what the phrase means but it’s sounds very beautiful and poetic 😊
