He is wearing an afrikakorps uniform. The afrikakorps was run by Erwin Rommel who was considered to be one of the more benevolent German leaders in World war 2. The captain isn't there for millenniums cause but for his own reasons which is wanting to die.

I don't think he was a Nazi because the clothing he wears is afrikakorps which were whermracht and separate from the ss

SS were more of the loyal elites to the Wehrmacht's standard soldier, both had loyal and disloyal members (for example SS Officer Kurt Siegfried Schrader and Wehrmacht Major Josef Gangl, both were disloyal to the Nazis) so Hans most likely was a Nazi

if it was Alucard alone without his other blood history, Hans 100%; he predates Alucard who only exists since 15th Century. Alucard with all the people blood he uses as lifeline gives Alucard easier chance to beat Hans. Remember what Alucard said to Anderson; he was closest to killing him. which tells you that only people to beat him have to have sometype of X in their being to overcome Alucard. Humans can't kill him the normal method but Supernatural can't beat him simply being extraordinary, their must be something that gives it that X factor. i believe Hans Gunsche could be that if he didn't giveup on life wanting someone stronger than him to end his suffering..... Anti-hero who lived in our hearts....🥲
