Hells Froze Over
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Had to run out towards the overlook on Hells Revenge Trail to repair a control arm bracket on a Toyota truck. When we got there it was raining and beginning to snow. Everything was wet and shortly we were soaked. We couldn't just pick it up and carry the vehicle out with the axle not being tied in I was worried about causing further damage to the shocks. So we stuck to welding it together but with the water came the fun of dealing with electricity in the rain. This is the day I got sick and why in the last couple videos my voice sounded rough. Anyway, we finally got it together and the customer showed up to drive it out. We helped him on a couple hills, but it drove out and onto the trailer under its own power. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Half way though this video I realized there aren’t too many real men who can or would do what you do. You are one rugged dude Rory and that goes for your crew also.

Be an off-road recovery guy they said - it'll be easy they said. Yeah, right. Thanks for showing the unglamorous side of this and thanks for all you do for the stranded people and their vehicles!
Rory, I have always been amazed at the body control welders have to hold while maintaining focus on the bead.Trying to hold your torso at a 45 degree angle while laying in the mud, getting shocked and burned is beyond tough. Your dedication to your work and the off-roading community should be applauded and appreciated. That's why I watch you, Shawn, Mike and of course Princess Lilly! I love what you guys do. Thanks for posting!
Hard core commitment! Dang!! You are the man Rory! One day I hope to be half the man you are.
Great job, well done. I hate working out in the cold and wet, with hands exposed. Sorry, I can only give one thumbs up. As much as I enjoy Matt, there is a lot of difference recovering from, stuck in sand, to recovering broken rock crawlers. Apples and oranges. Trailmater for the win.
Thanks Rory for showing how to not only tough thru obstacles on the trail, but emotional obstacles due to conditions you faced. If someone never shows how a person can change emotions they are just acting. Commend you guys for not letting a little weather from finishing the task you were dealt. You guys are Pros, not actors.
Oh man so cold and raw! Could see Rory wasn't having too much fun there lol...still got the job done. Hope you charged extra!! :)
You just proved that off road recovery is not for the weak and the weather will not stop you from completing your mission.
This is one of my favorite channels these days, keep 'em coming boys!
Nothing better that a plate full of bacon and a cup of trail mater in the morning ....🤣🤣
Damn that was terrible conditions, thumbs up to Mike for walking in the rain for killer footage.
Some recoveries aren't nearly as glamorous as others ... And when you get back to the shop soaking wet and cold ... you get one of those "needy" visitors ... We understand! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Poor Rory... I was miserable just watching you guys. I HATE working on crap like that in the cold. ☹
All the GLORY of offroad recoverys !!!
Rory, you always impress! With the crazy landscape you work in, you & Trail Mater take it all in stride... The BOSS of Moab!
That looked like a miserable recovery. Never fun when it's cold and wet. Especially when u get wet too. On the plus side ,u got the job done and that's what counts.

@@ronsmith1364 Right? Same with dehydration and heat stroke. Some of us are not as young and as durable as we once were. Plenty of people have died from these things and they never saw it coming.
Ahahaha: "It's so easy, I want to do offroad recoveries too!" And just like that, Fair Weather Recoveries is trademarked. lol
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night nor electrical shock stays these rescuers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." A dependable, responsible rescue team. A hard find. Thumbs up to you.
Whoever made this call for this rescue. Called the right person.
Oh I feel for you Rory, what a wet, cold and nasty repair. Part of the game but you're always glad it's over when it's over.
Awesome , snow , wind rain there's no stopping you from getting the job done ...Good Job Rory..
I said it before and I will say it again. I love the sound of the mater. A real beast of a truck.
The sign of a sensible man, "walking away and taking a breather" a true achievement to recover that truck.👍 Thanks guys a very real world video.
Trail Mater is one hell of a tough truck but Rory and his crew are LOT tougher!
On a dry day its a challenge but with wet conditions it shows the skill of man and the capability of machine!
The closing shot of Rory holding a coffee/chocolate drink says it all. His face says, I'd rather be in front of a warm fireplace. Great job Rory. 👍
Rain mixing with snow is weather y’all should be payed extra bucks for. Welding in a puddle is extra. Because is extra. I proudly thank you for the profound suffering you experience from hot with hot trucks and rock while welding above your head to this attempt at grounding out your wielder with your body. Man up is in your rear mirror Rory. I’m not Rory tuff. I’m not even close. The secret behind the truck is the men who use it. 👊
I commented prior to the off road wrecker Olympics. This video proves it will be boys amongst men. The others will be fighting for second. Great job and keep up the good work.
Laying in mud, welding, while it’s snowing. You guys have all the fun!😅
Awesome work for being wet and cold and having the weld in the wet ground. Also for the cameraman who had to stand out in the wet weather to film everything
I love how everyone else is building off road wreckers but your team is showing us how they are supposed to work. At the competition everyone else will be learning and breaking their rigs while you are welding them back together.
I absolutely enjoyed this episode. The camera angles and views were outstanding, which I imagine took a lot of running and climbing.
Good to see you giving the underside of Trail Mater a solid cleaning on the way in. Tough one there, great job!
another awesome mission well executed from rory "The King of Moab" 👍
This one belongs on your wall of fame. Hardcore offroad repair and recovery(!!!)
The wisdom of this channel as well. Rory is teaching all of us How To while doing. Explains the Why and shows the How. This is next level Professor way of being. We should all be this way in whatever we have figured out how to be good at. Show your kids, your friends. Find an interested younger person to mentor and pass on your learning. Rory has the experience and knows how to do it right because he has done it wrong. Share the knowledge people. Don't complain about the youth who don't know anything. they don't know cause we don't teach them!
Neither rain , sleet ,or snow will stop Rory and TrailMater, Great video,Thumbs Up, Wouldnt mis any of it
Be an offroad recovery guy they said... It will be fun they said...
New definition for Slick Rock! Trail Mater is AWESOME, once AGAIN! Matt should just give you the trophy! Where are your doors for Mater? GREAT JOB!
Wow it's a whole different place when it's raining! I wish you would have a tarp in your truck so you don't have to lay in the wet 🥺
Amazing ! this really shows the non glamorous side of your job, and that you are not "picky" about what calls you accept.... very professional !
The landscape after 2:05> can almost pass as an alien planet. Those crazy plants on rocks...under rocks!
You're the best when you "Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome"
Another awesome job in the books ! Mother Nature couldn’t even keep these guys down. Well done Rory, team work again prevails!
You make it look easy Rory, but anyone with mechanical experience or half a brain knows just how much skill it really takes to do what you do. Just ignore anyone who thinks they can do it better, because given the chance they would give up pretty quickly.
Oh hey! I saw that truck broken down the day before!
I bet no one thinks of welding overhead while laying in a creek, in the snow, while soaked, in the cold when they think of Tow Truck Olympics. I salute you Rory!
The trailmater team is amazing. Crap conditions and don't give up. Get the customer out and safe! You guys ROCK!!
Nothing but skill and determination here
even helps him load up in the end, complete badassery.
Days like this separate the real men from the wanna be's! I got cold to bone just watching: been there and it's never fun out on days like this. Great job!
I am unable to find the right words to express the esteem I have for you guys. Wow, the lengths you go to to rescue others. Truly incredible. You are THE BEST!
I had the chills just watching Rory laying in a puddle and trying to weld. Holy cow!
Great Recovery/Repairs on the Toyota Rory! Miserable. Cold conditions, but you got it done and didn’t have to tow it out! Great job Rory and Mike! 🤙😎
You guys rock!! Thanks for sharing! You are the most awesome rescue team out there!! Best regards from Norway!!
You know.... anyone else would have said... "aww hell no"... I mean its cold and raining and snowing and stuff... but sheer will of a former pipe welder, coupled with amazing mcgyver problem solving skills.... makes the impossible possible... Moab is such a diverse place... with the snow and the rain and deserts and hot and cold... some guys just have to be built differently to do this sort of stuff. Mike and Rory out there... freezing their butts off but got the guy back to the parking lot. I hope he bought you all the hot chocolate you care for the next week!
Good lord what horrible conditions to work in! You guys did it like Champs! Awesome video, thanks guys!
Great work in the cold, just crazy all you do to help people. Glad they can count on you
SNOWING, RAINING, WET WELDING, HELLS REVENGE. Sounds about right! Who else could do this. Good Work!!! You da best!
Now that was Above and Way past Beyond SERVICE !! Someday's life just Sucks , but like the Pro U are " the job got done !!
That was a fantastic recovery. Who else would come out in this kind of weather. Rory and team are not fair weather riders.
That was one of those Cold miserable as days.
Chapeau Trail Master, Chapeau Trail Master Team, Chapeau Power Chevy, all the Best
Rory you are one bad ass dude I couldn’t believe you were out there welding in the rain let alone the trip there and back gutter done great job a true superhero can’t wait for the next one God bless you sir and your crew
Ah... winter operations. I feel your pain. Water falling from the sky makes everything a pain. Walking away for a breather can help a lot. You regrouped and got it to drive out. A testament to your professionalism and drive. Two guys getting the job done. Thanks for taking us along.
Neither rain or snow nor mud and sand keeps Rory from completing the task at hand.
I’m sitting in my living room and I can almost feel that cold to the bone feeling you guys are experiencing on this one. I’ve been electrocuted a couple times just because I was to lazy to go to the panel box, but never been shocked by electricity that will melt steel. Can’t imagine why you would be in a bad mood.
@NeoMK

News flash, the power in your panel box is what powers welders and 100% capable of melting steel.

Man MY HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 GREAT JOB
Nothing like playing with electricity in wet weather / laying in puddles etc. Hope the crew / family and you are doing fine. Thanks for the video.
Amen to Marks post….Rory, Sean & Mike :))
I used to do road service on heavy equipment and this brings back memories. It seems the equipment never breaks on nice sunny days. Great video. 👍
Real men doing great work in miserable situations ,no bs, well done Mike ,and super well done Rory👍👍👍 especially after a few shocks, nothing worse when wet
Cold AND wet, nothing is worse. You're the MAN. I'LL keep watching you.
I can’t believe you guys can set up straight in Mater’s seats with the big set of 🏐🏐’s you guys must have! Wet, cold, slippery rocks and you go up and down them like it is nothing! You really have my butt puckered up on this one! Rory, you are one in a million!
The mood laying in the mud soaking wet getting shocked while its snowing.
To this day I hate electricity. Can't count how many time I've been lit up welding on wet ground or in a rain storm. Great work Rory.
Great footage on the way in. It is cool to see it so rainy. It is still so beautiful but definitely a different feel.
Holey guacamole Rory! You've got nerves of steel! Ready for anything! Tools, talent and determination = success. Great job!
Getting choked by a welder is not fun, getting choked while you are wet and miserable is WAY worse and I speak from experience. This is a testimony of this crew's grit and perseverance, MUCH respect Rory and Mike.
Paul and Matt are going to need every trick they have come the tow truck Olympics. I like all of you guys but if I was a betting man Id have to put my money on you Rory.

All of it and everything I could beg borrow or steal
I have welded since 1968. I much prefer stick over mig welding anytime. I worked in the Seattle area in a sawmill as a mill right for about 25 years. I have welded in bad weather, gotten shocked just like you in this video, but I don't think I have ever welded in conditions any worse than this video, my hat is off to you my friend.
Cool. quite literally. First time I’ve ever seen the trail traversed in the “wet n wild” mode. You guys are tough as snot ! 👍👍
Most times you look like you are having fun. That did not look like fun. Well done guys
Amazed at the level of traction you were getting with wet tires on slick wet rock. So much skill on display, both driving and problem solving on the job.
Impressive wrecker performance: cold tires and wet rock.
Anger sometimes brings out a man's best work...it's bad enough hooking up a chain. Never mind welding in a stream..on to the next one..
That weather looked miserable! Well done!
The Wrecker has EVERYTHING ! Except, heat, doors… ;) AMAZING STUFF !
I once had to repair a driveshaft in a thunderstorm, so I feel your pain on this one.
You da man!! Others wouldn't even have tried in them conditions....
I just have to say you all must have had one really crappy day thank you so much for all your hard work and taking us along
That's gutsy driving on those slick rocks, just a testament to the awesome guy behind the wheel!
Great work guys! Man that was some serious misery you were dealing with there!
I wouldn’t say this looks like fun but definitely fun to watch. This is the kind of stuff that can’t be taught in any school except the school of hard knocks. Great job !!!
And so the recovery orchestra goes on never missing a note or beat Calmness personified hats off to you and your team for doing such harmonic recoveries irrespective of the weather peace and blessings
this rescue just shows what amazing people you guys are. The views were still amazing as always. Hope you all got dry and warmed up soon. Excellent trail fix and assisting the rig to get off the trail safely.
Oh the joy of stick welding in the rain. The feeling of electricity passing through your arms to ground is such a thrill, NOT! You are definitely a die hard. Great job as always!😀👍
