Hello Jessica Mann!

Фильм және анимация

Jessica introduces herself to KZread...sort of.
Sorry to break your hearts, but she doesn't actually have any seminars to share. There is a lot of delusion surrounding Jessica. We’ve never had appointments with her, she’s never given a seminar, and when she looks in the mirror she sees her own face, not the body’s.
It’s going to take a lot of time to fully connect with this new alter.

For anyone here for educational purposes and doesn't have DID themselves, it's important to know that alters like this are incredibly common in DID systems. It's not a voluntary thing that this happens, but it's a protective mechanism of the brain to distance itself as far as possible from it's own life and it's own trauma. It may also be an alter created to help the system in some way, but with the side effect of actually becoming it's own person. Once the brain learns to use dissociation and splitting to solve some of it's problems...it's not uncommon for it to instinctively jump to it to solve all of it's problems. "You need a therapist who understands you and is empathetic and will listen to you without judging you and who understands this very mis-understood disorder?"says the brain. " well, I'll make on for you!" . Not realizing what it has just done in creating a sentient person who doesn't know that they are part of the system in it's attempts to help the system. And this can happen in any number of ways for any number of reasons that an alter has an inner world and a belief about who they are that is, for lack of better words, "delusional", but it's probably there for a good reason for it. And it doesn't make a system any less valid, or anything like that since it is a fairly common "alter type". And no, in case you were wondering, just telling them they are an alter in a system and telling them to snap out of it won't help things one bit. It might make them more steadfast in their beliefs, it might make co-con more difficult for those parts, it might just make them defensive and not feel safe to talk to a real therapist in the future. The only way for them to realize what is going on is for them to come to the conclusion for themselves, and that will only happen if the brain itself decides that will be a useful or helpful thing to do for the overall system. (or at least not a harmful one.)

I'm really on the fence as to whether what I'm seeing here is multiple aspects of one soul, or multiple souls sharing one body. I know what the psychiatric profession has to say about DID, but I have seen them jump through hoops to explain away astral projection, something of which I (and probably millions of others in the world) have firsthand knowledge of, and know exists. The psychiatric profession often has blinders on, and refuses to admit that there are some things which may be beyond our familiar three dimensions, or can be explained with just the knowledge we have acquired to date. So despite the official party line, my mind remains open as I watch the videos on this site and others like it.

How lovely to meet her! I relate to her, when I first appeared I didn't know there were others either and thought the body was entirely mine. I had my own name, my own family and profession and had no idea it wasn't true. I don't have any advice but be gentle with her when she begins to discover she is part of a system, it devastated me to the extent I got us hospitalised in the worst way possible because I didn't cope at all. Like Dr Mann I had a whole backstory that I had to discover wasn't true, it was a protection and how I distanced myself from what we had been through. I can't begin to tell you how awful it is when that begins to fall apart. The story does have a happy ending because I have hosted for many years now and have many memories from the others and my own memories back, but it is a mountain to climb. If Dr Mann ever feels she needs someone to talk to who has been there when reality starts crashing in I am here for her. - Lin

Thank you for posting this. Hi, this is Rachel of the Doug Vincent system. For many years, I lived in the internal world only, and in fact, my best friend and roommate, another alter named Lynn, actually actively tried to keep me from knowing that the external world existed. This was not because she was trying to be mean to me, but because I was very emotionally volatile and sometimes suicidal in the internal world, and so she was trying to protect us all by keeping me inside, so I couldn't harm our physical body. Then, when we were finally diagnosed as DID, and Doug "met" me and I came out into the external world for the first time...well, to say it was a shock was an understatement. To find out that I lived in a male body, and everyone else that I had ever known in my life lived in that same body, took a LOT of getting used to. And a LOT of crying. So, as someone who has "been there", I urge you, that whenever Dr. Mann does realize that she is an alter, please be very patient and supportive of her. I know it's frustrating to you all that you can't get through to her, but it will be devastating to her when she realizes the truth. So when that happens, just surround her with love as much as you possibly can. I wish you all the very best. - Rachel

This is actually comforting? Most of my alters all had their own “lives” and memories and stories so it was a very long process to get to the point we are at now. We still struggle with memories and what is real vs. what is not. For us, however, every alter (with the exception of one), is more like a past life. None of them are “modern” memories. -Jenn

Fascinating. If that's the case, aside from the one mentioned, why were they created? Obviously you had severe trauma in your early childhood, which would create the alters to protect you. If your alters represent a past life, that would open more doors as to why this disorder exists, which leads to many more questions. Very interesting.

I can't help thinking this scenario could make the basis of a cool psychological thriller. A psychiatrist treating someone with DID, getting to know all the personalities, finding out about their history and trying to help them work together. All the time becoming more aware that something isn't right but trying to ignore it. Only in the end having to come to terms with the fact that they are a part of the system themselves.

I just found you all’s channel and I find it so great you’re dispelling the stigma on mental disorders! I’ve recently been diagnosed with face blindness and its explained a lot of awkwardness and social issues I’ve had before but if you aren’t familiar I pretty much just can’t recognize faces. I bring that up because I was falling down the rabbit hole that is KZread and stumbled across DID and I’ve always been interested in mental health since high school psych class and struggling with my own. I found this channel amongst other stystem’s channels and I was so intrigued. I rely on personality, mannerisms, context and voice to recognize “faces” and because I’m face blind doesn’t mean I don’t see faces at all, which is what people think, like I see everyone as a creepy faceless thing lol, I’m an artist and I actually have fine tuned my perception (to help in life but also as an art form) so that I can see very slight details in faces that most can’t, like I can say that KZreadr looks like blank actress and no one would ever see it until I say but look at the muscle structure around their cheeks and the depth of their eyes and they’d be like ahhh I see it now lol what I’m trying to get at is that, especially in the q&a videos when you cut to multiple videos of the different alters, from my point of view each and every one of the different alters, I clearly see a completely different person. Obviously I’m not seeing what each alter knows is their body, but I’m just saying, for what it’s worth.. especially for the males in your system that experience radical body dysmorphia, from someone who can’t see (or actually now I rather say I can hyper see) faces, I think you all are very individual with very strong personalities that distinguish yourselves. And it’s just so interesting to me! Thank you all for educating me with every video. And it was a pleasure meeting Dr. Mann, she’s what made me want to type in my first KZread comment. I literally was so confused I thought it was a totally different lady because I’ve familiarized my self with the alters that come on the videos and seeing someone new was jarring! (lol I had to show my boyfriend so he could confirm that wyn in the first clip was still the body in the second clip when Dr.Mann was introducing herself) I’m very excited to see how you all progress!!

Same, im kind of anxious and nervous to see exactly how she will react if or when she finds out she is an alter. She seems very logical so will she react with logic or will it kind of break her down? It will be very tricky i think considering she said she is very much a believer in science and all of that... im super curious.

  • @beeztrapp1612
    @beeztrapp16125 жыл бұрын

With your love of sharing knowledge and curiosity in the macro, micro, and inner universes, it makes complete sense that you would host an alter who specializes and prizes just that. It also makes sense that she doesn't see herself as an alter, scientists want healthy disconnection from their "subjects" and to remain as unbiased as possible. I don't see why people question and ridicule those with DID; the more you learn about it, the more it makes perfect sense. The human mind in all its many paths to consciousness is so intriguing and empowering. I think you and your system have a magnificent mind. Hope all is going well.

I find it so interesting how different DID systems can have such different experiences when it comes to their alters/head-mates and the inner world/head space. For example, none of the head-mates (with the exception of Lito and now Dr. Mann) have prior life memories or "background lives" in the inner world, but other systems have fully fleshed out lives that the brain has created that mirror a life that anyone could have on the outside with childhood memories and even people/friends/family members that are not alters/head-mates of the system. I find that so fascinating when it comes to intersystem cooperation, communication, and coping/survival of the system as a whole! Thank you so much for being so open, honest, and brave enough to put yourselves out on KZread. I wish all of you nothing but the very best that life can bring you!

I’m glad your experiment was a success. It was nice to meet Dr. Mann. Did she realize that something happened when Kit regained control of the body? The rest of this comment is going to be a lot of pondering and spitballing of ideas. Feel free to ignore it all, if you want. If you like some of the ideas, awesome, but you may want to talk them over with your therapist (that might be obvious, but I figured it was better to put that out there). It seems like any headmates that come with heavy amnesia barriers, or whose presence isn’t detected, have their separation mirrored in the inner world with some kind of natural barrier. Jonathan, Jacob, Lito, and the baby are all separated by the chasm, and (if I remember correctly) Jacob coming to the front (and perhaps others of that group, as well) causes severe lapses in memory. Kim Kim (who no one except Jacob knew about at the time) lived up in the mountains, chilling out in the caves there. Perhaps Dr. Mann’s place of residence in the inner world is similarly situated on or behind a natural barrier on the island, keeping her awareness even more separate than those of other headmates. Has there been any attempt to search the island for any such places? Or perhaps, given her level of delusion, she doesn’t reside on the island at all? Maybe she lives on another island, somewhere out in the ocean? Or maybe her delusions are also present when she’s inside, and she might be there, but she sees something other than the island, and maybe that prevents others from being aware of her presence? Like she’s there, just in a different dimension? If that’s the case, maybe a two way portal could be erected, connecting the two worlds and allowing travel between them. Or maybe, like Wyn, she goes to the dark place when she’s not fronting, and doesn’t have much of an experience of an inner world. It’s quite the mystery. I wonder if Jacob or Jonathan have any information about her. I’m not sure how good everyone’s communication is with them. If it’s not so great, maybe someone could get in contact with Lito, and he could relay some information? (I assume he has good communication with them since he lives so close to them on the island) Perhaps there are clues that Dr. Mann herself could provide. Like where she lives now, or where she grew up, what are her daughters’ names, what does her lawn look like, what’s the weather like, etc. If she says that she grew up in a cottage with lots of flower gardens, maybe she’s where Mistletoe used to live before she integrated. If she says it’s usually cloudy and she rarely gets to see the sun, maybe she lives in the chasm. If she says she like to go rock climbing, check out the mountains. Or maybe it’s not about finding her. Maybe it’s about creating a space for her that calls to her. Like, if she says that she grew up in a blue, two story house with a wrap around porch, maybe y’all could build a blue, two story house with a wrap around porch somewhere on the island and she would be drawn into it. Perhaps (I really need some better transitional phrases than “maybe” and “perhaps”. Any suggestions would be quite helpful) the inner world functions like an extra stable lucid dream, and reality is shaped by expectation. Perhaps if some (or most, or all) of the headmates began expecting her to show up on the island, began expecting to bump into her just around the corner, or on the beach, she might just appear. That would be convenient, though possibly frightening for her. Maybe she can be drawn forth with verbal cues, like “thank you all for attending this presentation on DID. Please welcome to the stage Dr. Jessica Mann!” or by repeating “paging Dr. Mann”. Maybe that would only work during hypnosis (have y’all tried hypnosis with your therapist? I saw that you mentioned the book “Switching Time” (which is a great book, by the way. Absolutely fascinating, but, like you said, trigger warnings all over the place), and they relied quite heavily (it seemed) on hypnosis). Or maybe thats a silly suggestion that wouldn’t work at all. Like I said before, just spitballing here. Whew. That was a lot. I could go on for days, hypothesizing about just this one topic. If you stayed with me this far, wow, you’ve got some serious patience. And, more importantly, thank you. Thank you for the time spent reading the result of my active imagination going on tangent after tangent. Thank you for creating this channel and educating us all on DID. Vanessa S. Is it possible she knows she’s not a doctor and she’s lying? I just don’t see how someone can think they’re a doctor, when they don’t know the things that doctors know. Like, she can’t possibly have memories of actually learning in med school, can she? And the “papers” she said Wyn signed... there are no papers? I’m so confused. Lol

a lot of DID deals with the unconscious mind, like Wyn said there is a lot of delusion surrounding dr. man. its quite possible that she has her own history and backstory in the inner world (essentially a whole life) and is unable to tell what is reality vs what took place in the inner world (or unconscious). As far as knowing things doctors know, Wyn has said in her videos shes gone to therapy before, its common for alters to pick up on others knowledge. its not that she *is* a doctor, she just is familiar with them and subconsciously picked up those traits.

@@Kelly-xp3wm She most probably does have false memories of studying these things, or just false awareness. I've seen alters with memories of lives from fantasy worlds or other planets even, so this isn't even bizarre by DID standards. The way I think of it it's like how in a dream you can have false memories or ideas that justify nonsensical aspects of the dream and make them seem sensible.

Wesley O. Yeah, that makes sense. Although, like, if she were asked to perform some kind of surgery, she obviously couldn’t do it. Surely she knows she couldn’t do it? Or does she think she’s perfectly capable of performing surgeries or whatever? What if she tries it? I mean if she thinks she’s Wyns doctor, who’s to say she’s not going to try a lobotomy or something? (That might be going a little far, but you get what I’m saying. Lol)

lily jackson Right. So at some point, she would have had to realize she’s not ACTUALLY a doctor, it seems like. If someone gets hurt and she can’t help them, does she not realize she’s not helping? Or in her head did she save their life? You know what I mean? Being a doctor is something that you would CONSTANTLY be reminded you’re not, I feel like. And sure she could have picked up some medical knowledge from all the therapists, but that’s VERY limited knowledge. Surely if that’s ALL she actually knows, she would realize she’s not a doctor. I mean, I don’t have DID, I don’t have anything, so wtf do I know, but I’m truly interested. I’m not trying to come off argumentative or anything, I’m just truly asking.

She seems to embody the powerful, career oriented, highly educated woman that doesn't necessarily put family first, and instead focuses on academia, right down to doing seminars. I'm sure this reveals some of her purpose and what was compartmentalized or made to be utilized within the system. She's highly logical, believing only in science rather than any theological ideas. She made a point to say despite being an atheist, she doesn't have loose morality. She is fascinating and I hope the system can eventually bring her into reality and have her be a functioning, aware part of the system.

Jessica has the delusion of being a physicist and psychologist which probably means that she just "knows" these things about herself, and doesn't question it, just like you don't think to question who you are on a regular basis, you just know. You don't think about how many memories you have, or ask yourself if the amount of memories you have is normal, she only knows what she knows and doesn't think much about it. She has no basis to make her even question that her reality may not be normal, let alone real. I imagine that as a natural reaction to a difficult idea or concept, when she is first confronted with the fact that she is not what she believes, she may make excuses to her challenger as well as to herself, as a coping mechanism (as most people would do, mental disorder or not, put yourself in her shoes). In your example, if someone were to present her with a difficult physics question, she may come back with 'well, this isn't the type of physics I specialize in, I specialize in quantum physics' something like that. To throw someone's delusions at them would make anybody instantaneously defensive. I know I wouldn't take well to having my reality questioned.

Wyn- is Dr. Mann a sub-system, perhaps? We came across someone very difficult to introduce to the system, who has very different memories and alters that came with her, and that ended up being the case. It wasn’t something we were expecting, we had barely figured out a schedule and some okay communication in maybe 6 months of most of us being aware fully. But there’s no rule book with DID. We ended up being her “backseat” all the time, as often as possible, until she slowly figured things. Still doing this since her fronting alone scares her a lot. I’m wishing the whole system the absolute best. -Caden & co.

This is awesome and I’m excited to see how this plays out. I bet it plays out better than anyone in the system expects it to. I took it as job first, everything else second. Which makes perfect sense since she believes she is Wynn’s psychiatrist, therefore she’s always going to put the system first even though she doesn’t realize she’s part of the system. It’s honestly fascinating how this may play out to benefit the system as a whole. You have someone who believes she put her family and life on the back burner for her job (being Wynn’s therapist/psychiatrist and helping her through things) which means she obviously cares deeply and is very passionate about them. She just doesn’t yet realize that she’s part of the system.

The timing and info you've allowed us to know says to me that Mistletoe may have been filling the space and the role that Jessica as an alter feels she may be able to replace. Does the system feel that Dr Mann has made an appearance because Wynn (and system) is doing KZread, advocating so much for DID- along with learning more about her system? That perhaps the system unconsciously felt the need to compartmentalize and share / teach / educate others on DID. Thus Dr.Mann has come forth....
