The second concern just pissed me off. If you're gonna keep calling her fat and a pig, ofc she'll eat more. Youre stressing her out. And if you want her to lose weight, stop calling her names and support and help her out better. She might not have the will right now, but when she's forced to eat differently at home, I'm sure she can loss weight. And stop insulting fat people, youre hurting their feelings

Some people eat because they are stressed, ever heard of an eating disorder? Not every fat person wanted to be fat, you know. They just ended up like that. And some people do work hard to lose weight, but it doesn't ever work. For example, most people go for FAD diets that are only cause temporary weight loss and they end up gaining it all back or they can't exercise because of their age and back, knee, or whatever pains. The eye sore is reading comments like yours that try to redeem themselves as well by saying that last part smh. Fat is not a gene, dumb as hell😂 they smell bad bc they don't put deodorant on, that's not something that just happens because you're fat. You're so freaking rude smh😩😩😩

gladitsnotme I agree. In every show sexism comes up, it's mind boggling some of the things. But not only in the culture, you can see affecting even international fans now. They don't like to see girls who are confident in variety, they are always calling them bitches, or if they are to sweet them it's fake. It's horrible. Jeez, let them be who they want to be. Woman is not a character, who only exist in one way. And please international fans, stop being so hostile toward any one who dares to stand out in this type of culture.

For the 2nd concern, 1. It's amazing that she is 55kg after all that eating!!! And she looks healthy, which is the most important part. 2. I hate the way they handled this issue. I know it's a variety but this is a serious concern. They shouldn't keep joking about this is her parent's concern instead of her. 3. Obviously she have no wills to diet, or she have no resistance to food. I think if she exercises, she can lose weight and will have great body. 4. I hate that they emphasised dieting means no eating. Dieting means control your eating (what you eat, how frequent etc) and exercising. For me, this is a serious concern. She is a cute, happy girl but if the family keeps calling her pig and stuff, she might develop eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia.

I agree with all the comments on the second concern on how the parents are mean calling her fat and a pig. It's bullying and should never happen. Especially when the child is normal weight. If she wants to go on a diet and lose weight because SHE wants to the family should support her. But, they shouldn't have to stop ordering food just because the daughter wants to diet. The daughter seems like she has no self control around food and I find the "family is stressing me out" as a poor excuse. She needs to take some responsibility too for failing at dieting and failing to lose weight. She doesn't seem motivated at all.

Need Eun Jiwon back on variety shows again!!

Her height and weight are the same as mine (I'm 5'2" at 125 lbs) and honestly, I've been dieting for months and I still look "chubby" because well, the fat on my legs simply won't go away. However, my parents don't call my pig like her parents do - in fact, they actually are proud of me losing some weight as well as eating right, and my mom loves seeing me enjoy her food. Of course, they nag at me when I eat too many fatty foods, but not to this girl's extent. In the end, I'm happy and healthy - and this girl should be too. Honestly, with the harsh emphasis on beauty in Korea, it's not a surprise to me to hear any more of these stories - but it still doesn't make it right. I hope the parents regret their words and actions at some point, because if they keep their behavior - her mind and body both won't be stable at all. In a country where suicide is pretty high, I wouldn't want to try and tip the scale towards anything excessive. However, I do think a healthy diet and exercise will be better for her health in the future and I hope she's doing that rather than eating junk food 24/7. Plus, I am SO SO SO SO tired of people saying Yeongja is fat. Sure she's bigger, but she's just so positive and open, and she seems happy about her body at this point. I do'nt care where the parents come from, them being so blunt like that is not right, it's just downright rude. The more the parents criticize her like that, the more she's willing to rebel. There's a way to eat deliciously and eat right, and they're not helping her at all by trying to coax her in only to insult her. I could write on and on about this topic, but I think I shall just end it with: I hope the parents learn what they're doing wrong and support her daughter in a way so that she blossoms happily and healthily - and not to conform to someone's ideal beliefs about how she should look. It's her body and she's already pretty, and it's quite sad to see her own parents don't believe it. And to the dad especially, everyone is beautiful in their own special way. Fat does not mean ugly. Everyone has individual preferences and while we may have different ideal types, no one should get hurt for what you believe is beautiful. For me, I believe those who are confident and happy with their looks are the people that shine the most- something I still struggle with.

ThucThucTruong I share your concern! I actually have the same problem as you, no matter how much weight I lose, the fats on the lower half of my body just kind of stick to me. I had quite a bit of a problem trying to cope with my insecurities, but I'm trying to be really optimistic because I know that even though I'm bigger than the rest of my friends, I'm at a healthy weight. Because of that mindset, I became much happier and life became a lot better. Hope yours does too!

I feel so sorry for the husband in the first concern. :/ She shouldn't have called him "pooper". He trusted her and told her why so many underwears are missing. Using " I wanted him to use issues." as an excuse isn't right. His problem should have stayed private.

her husband should show her some respect too. it goes both ways. him getting mad at her over there being no underwear left already shows enough of how he views her. not that she did anything well either and I'm sure it was embarrassing and they should've just dealt with it in private, but he's not exactly being the perfect husband either. hurt his pride? boo hoo. there are things more important than that, like, you know, acting like an adult and explaining things to your wife instead of yelling at her when she very understandably gets suspicious. but what do you expect from someone who likes videos of a known woman beater?

and as far as growing up goes, considering the fact that she's in her 20s with two kids and has been married for three years and taking into account the recent attitude most Korean women have towards marriage, there's a pretty high possibility that he's the one who took a young girl and knocked her up. you don't tell someone to "grow up" in that situation.

Why don't they invite expert every week. But also invite celebrity to hear their view. I think it's more better. They just like to celebrate the problem than solve the problem itself

womba wombi are you stupid? the whole idea of this show is to get a consensus among the general public. There is no such thing as an 'expert' in standards of life... majority of concerns are about relationships between two people, are you telling me they should hire a person to tell people how to live their lives? that's just stupid and very biased. The idea around 200+ people is you get a diverse range of opinions and draw a majority conclusion to help aid an issue, not to have one person who has their mind set on something just tell you how to live your life. The only time where you can ever invite an expert should be for medical/scientific issues, and they already do that, they video tape them asking questions to doctors.... so how about you and the other 11 people that upvoted your comment go back to McDonalds and flip them burgers, you'll never make it in life with these stupid ass comments... you clearly have the IQ if a kindergarten dropout.

I don't think they're necessarily "celebrating" the problem...but it would be such a great a idea to bring in an expert. It's a counseling show but it has to be entertaining. I think it's more of a...it's ok to have problems thing. Not all of the problems can have experts.

womba wombi There is a Korean show called "Vitamin" where medical professionals are invited to the show every week. Guess you can say "Hello Counsellor" is similar, but in the sense that all kinds of concerns are addressed in a more casual environment. Lets just hope that by appearing on the show, the guests acknowledge their issues, and from there, seek the help they need.

i wish they'd do a special ep where the hosts talk about their concerns .. and bring the most visited celebrity guests to take their places as hosts ... thumbs up if you agree so they could see this comment !!

Concern #2 As someone battling an eating disorder, I find the parents extremely upsetting. Just the way thee insult their daughter and what's worse was they make her sound disgusting. She was not sneaking food because she just want to, she was binge eating. I hope they pay attention on the effects of whst they were doing to her.

tbh i would just eat to annoy them- who are are you to tell me to lose weight just so that it will please you?even if you are her parents, its her body. it's not like her health is at risk as of now

iPheaw w what are you talking about? her health is obviously at risk, eating that much isn't making her really fat but you gotta know that sodium level and cholesterol in her blood is going to end up getting her sooner than later. You can tell her natural body weight would be ~48-50kg because her eating habits are abnormal, if she was eating a regular diet, she would most probably fall within that range.

I understand that Hello Councilor is a variety show so it's purpose is pure entertainment. But these concerns are written to them by people with concerns and is in need for comfort, support, and publicity to help them. The second concern ticked me off since no one tried to touch upon the main point of the writer. She's stressed but her family isn't helping her and instead doesn't think about her position. This already tells us their relationship isn't healthy when name calling comes before any care. She on the other hand is too comfortable with it that she's not considerate of their concerns for her weight. I think the Father is wronged when he brought up her appearances. Sure a woman should be pretty but his definition of pretty is for her to weigh less. Other people would look at her personality, talents etc. They should have discussed how the family could relieve her stress a little without her only relying on food. Yeonja is right when she said it's not the good but one needs to exercise and work out the food in order to maintain a slimmer body. There are cases where one can't lose weight but in her case she's capable of it, but her love for food wins all else.

The second concern made me furious. Her misogynistic father is brainwashing her to think that women are merely decorations to look at. Her parents should be helping her eat healthier, meal prep with her, and give encouragement instead of insulting her and degrading women. I am embarrassed for all the females in his family; it must truly be a disgrace to admit that you are related to a scumbag like him. Korea's obsession with dieting and becoming unnaturally thin is repulsive. The daughter may be a glutton, but she looks fine and is not obese or appalling to look at. The MCs should have handled that sensitive concern with more professionalism because topics such as BED and other eating disorders could have come up.

I wish that they left like an email or something for each concern on the show, so we can send in our opinions and advice to each person.. I'd really like to talk to the second girl and just encourage her

The second concern girl is so pretty!

The father of the second concern is so harsh and mean. He has no rights to call any "fat" people as pigs. And who says you must be thin to be pretty. His daughter isnt anyhow overweight. I think its way too mean and hurtful for her.

The second concern I connected with. First of all that girl is so pretty and I would love to be where she's at. Her parents are mean by calling her "pig" and saying their own daughter isn't skinny enough to be "pretty". But that's just my opinion. My parents always called me names and said I should be stuck skinny like other regular normal girls. They would always compared me and push me to not eat at all (It's their idea of diet). Growing up... I was always a chubby child. I was never happy because I was brainwashed into thinking that skinny was pretty. I had several eating disorders and fainted from several days of starving myself. Girls and guys if you are reading this know that you are beautiful and deserve the best. You know what's right for you and you decide what you do. It's not right to have someone plan your life or decide what you want to do. Everythubg is your choice. I am 160 cm and 60 kg, sure chubby but I know I'm happy, plus my built is very muscular. I'll lose weight if I want to. Have a good day(=

I can actually see in the second concern, the girl is stubborn herself and she wants to keep eating. Asking her nicely won't work as well because she'll give reasons why she wants to keep eating. That amount isn't healthy anyway. But at the same time, her family is being too harsh although I understand deep down, they're just worried she'll get worse and it's hard to lose weight if she keeps gaining more. But at this stage, her weight is alright and I think she has high metabolism like me. If she wants to keep eating that much, she needs to balance it with healthy food and exercise. Maybe then the family can relax as well.

to the second concern's mother, if you're calling your own daughter a pig, that means you ARE A PIG too in the first place! I understand that you want your daughter to look pretty and slim, but you can do that by managing her food, telling her not to eat too much, and keep supporting her. It doesn't give you the right to call her pig!!!!! You want her to weight 8 kg??? You might as well starve her to death huh? Seriously, you can't call yourself a mother like that!

Unpopular opinion: I think the girl was really rude when Yeongja said "should we let the guests eat ?" and she replied "What ? After i eat." And when she just couldn't stop eating and Yeongja had to force her to put her chopsticks on the table, are you starving or what. Girl we get that you like to eat but you should be a bit polite... she just lost my empathy at that moment

When it sounds like a medical problem they should have a medical doctor who treats these conditions. The man who falls asleep has Narcolepsy, and this man who cant control his bowels has a serious medical problem.... but they make jokes....have they not heard of these conditions of people who come on this show?

Yup...my uncle that has same condition as the man that falls asleep easily pass away because he falls asleep while he was driving. It is a very serious condition and people that has it should never operate vehicle of any sorts. My uncle has been in accidents in his motorcycle and car several time too. He refuse to listen to advise to not drive. This is no joke material. That man needs medical attention.

For the second concern I thought she was pretty! She did seem to eat a lot but she's average sized and I'm amazed!

for the second concern, while i completely disagree with the family about being skinny equates to beauty, the girl really shouldn't eat like that because it could lead to health problems later on :/

The second concern...the poor girl I get where she's coming from its hard to resist when you Family brings in such foods, when I was suffering from anorexia I often needed up binging on all kinds of Junk food that my family would buy for me even though I said no, I would feel like if I eat it all today then it won't be around to tempt me tomorrow and I can diet

I hate how that father keeps saying" woman should be pretty "... that's y there are bully at school, suicide rate increase n more just because people have that kind of idea n they just can't consider fat ppl as human, as pretty as other...

I totally feel for the girl. I used to weigh 115lbs (I'm short af, 5ft even) and I gained some weight, my parents (1st gen Asian) kept telling me to diet and workout since it looks bad. I start dieting and then they tell me I don't eat enough. Or when we're out at a family party or they want to eat out, they say I can eat just that once with them, I can diet later. Like really?? It's a pain.

The girl in the second concern didn't explain it the right way, i think.. here it seemed like she just likes to eat and her family calls her names for doing so. But actually, i think that she really really is stressed! I'm by no means fat and i know that my dad just jokes, but even being told names while it's not true is uncomfortable! I kinda understand her ^^ even though her Dad is waaay worse.

Me watching the second concern while eating a pizza and a whole plate of pasta as a side while my father tells me I'm a whole family of pigs (just like her father) but I weight 3kg more than her and I'm over 1,73m be like 👁️👄👁️

I'm 174cm and 60kg. I really want to get down to 50kg because my parents had always told me that I look like a house and I soon wouldn't be able to fit through the door. I want to diet but since I play basketball I feel like if I restrict what I eat then I may not have energy to play and train.

Thats actually a really good weight considering your height. Im 175CM but im over 60KG, but im not bad either. Since you play basketball, you are healthy and fit so no need to worry😊

Exo-l_xoxo 9497 your weight considering your height is completely fine though, if you play basketball maybe its because you have muscle and your parents want you to be lean? do you think you look big or not? if you want to loose a coupe and its still within your bmi range I don't see why not, but if you are fine with the way you are stick with it. (:

XD I totally liked the comment from the MC when he said to her mother that she is fatter than her daughter. I was thinking the same :p I mean how can you be so mean and tell someone else to lose weight when they aren't even fat!!!!

34:43 i'm jealous rn hahhaah at this point practically breathing in air makes me gain weight and yet she looks so beautiful, if I was there I would've asked to be her friend though, no other friend eats with me a lot. They eat soooooo slow, like I would've finished me meal, ordered a new one, ate it and they would still be half way done. It's nice to have a friend that eats a lot with you, makes you feel better than if your friend ate microsized portions and you ate huge portions
