i think this show really needs to have an expert like a psychologist/psychiatrist for the advantage of the people who send their concerns. there are concerns that seriously need an advice from an expert, not just someone who understands the concern. i feel like there are some concerns wherein the hosts cannot fully understand how big the problem is then, the concern is left without a good/enough solution. they need a "real" counselor or at least the hosts should read things about counseling

+hey ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) but thats EXACTLY what they do though! if youve watched more than one ep of this show you would know that the majority of ppl that send in worries to the program r actually serious, which just makes the whole thing even more sad. it shows how little options ppl in korea think that they have regarding counseling and how fucked up the view on mental health issues is in korea overall

It's not just the beating. I think it's probably the fighting too. If someone is always fighting around you, you would want to distance yourself from them to never have to experience that ever again. It probably was like the for the oldest. He always saw them fighting. He probably just wanted to leave all the bad things behind him and never look back.

He wanted to know why so they tracked down the daughter and brought her on the show to make amends with her dad. It turned out she cut ties with him because he raped her once when she was 14. They did a lie detector test and everything on both her and the dad and it turns out she was telling the truth.

The kid that won't talk to his parents is a sad case, but it seems like their must of been a lot of abuse and neglect at home because even the brother won't speak to the parents. He probably feels conflicted because he wants to love his parents but probably never developed a relationship with them. The way I see it is he has two options leave and start a new life or forgive and try to work it out. The problem is he did neither and just hid away playing video games.

I really felt for the father in the second concern. Like the son I wanted to move out and live on my own. Now I'm living in the dorms while in university and at first I was soo happy and hated it when my parents called everynight. But now I worry when they don't pick up or one of them doesn't talk to me when I call them. People should really learn to treasure their parents (or those who took care of you when you knew nothing) before it's too late

I think this show was a good idea to make his wife realize that she doesn't have to punish him anymore.. I got beaten. My teacher had a thin dried sellotaped sugarcane stick she named Love. She'd whip us and then tell us its because she loved us and wanted us to be good , talented people. Considering I later became number one I don't mind as much coz it only happened a few times but I did feel sorry for the other kids who were slow to learn and got whipped almost everyday.

Yes its a cultural thing. I grew up i village so even though beating is against the law, it didn't really matter . Everybody knew everybody and because my parents and grandparents were beaten as students, they didn't really mind me getting beaten( if reasonable) because they deem it a necessary right of passage as a student.

i think you're all judging the second kid a bit too hard, yeah he's rude and ungrateful but it's obvious that probably all kinds of reasons to be like that build up in him over the years, besides it seems that he just grew up that way, he said himself that the parents fought a lot and he was always by himself, no surprised that he's introverted and doesn't know how to show emotion very well. also the parents are old and brother is probably older than him a lot, who knows what he all went through when he was younger considering the fact that brother doesn't talk to them at all, that's hella weird if you ask me there's no way there's not a bigger reason behind that. you can't judge a person that hard based on an edited tv show meant for entertaining.

kagss my cousin was from a broken family. my uncle and auntie divorced and eventually had different families. my cousin, at such a young age, learned to fend for herself (though she was also getting help from us and from our grandma from time to time). she had all the reasons in the world to go berserk and hate everyone and ruin her life, but she didn't. she decided not to hate the world and just made sure to give herself a better life. she made sure to finish college and she's now working in a global company, holding a high position. i mean, i am telling this story because even though you have the baddest of childhood or had lived with the evilest of people, who you are and how you treat other people later in life is still your own decision and responsibility. your past has nothing to do with it. this is why i think the son in the second concern deserves no empathy. he wanted justification for his wrongdoings. no matter what the dad did in the past, the son is now living in the present. why keep on bringing the bad to the present when he can already make beautiful new memories..?

What worries me about this show is that many times the guests will disregard and issue and say that "oh once they talk it out they'll be fine" or "now they have know the problem they can start working on the problem" However, there's no guarantee they will actually do so. Sure there are some instances where it looks like they possibly could but most of the time I see the person looking so smug and refusing to acknowledge the problem. If anything they only show some type of cooperation since they are on national TV. Especially with the issues regarding racism, most of the guest don't see it as a concern and say oh since you're on the show and you've made yourself known I'm sure no one will judge you again. Lol racism is not that simple, of it could be solved like that there would not be racist in the first place. Idk my issue is just how lightly most guests take these issues and think how they could be so simply solved when they're not the ones going home with the people they have a problem with

It always annoys me when a foreigner comes on the show and EVERYTIME they say "oh it's fine you just have to love yourself and after people see this they will change their minds, i dont think it's a worry" It feels like they dont care at all. They seem to be really ignorant and not get the struggle I was of course expecting Eli and Hyerin to not sympathize because they don't understand it. This is such a big problem in korea and they take it so lightly... Cutting his shoes up? Really now? wtf. I'm filipino/chinese and I feel like I'll be so discriminated when I come to Korea which is what my plan is. But people take it so lightly because they don't seem to get the struggle mixed races or foreigners go through. Also they never want to talk negatively about korean reality. Racism IS a problem just like all other social problems in korea. This really needs to be fixed

exactly, like I'm vietnamese and I get hella judged whenever I'm in koreatown and most of the koreans at my highschool really looked down on all the other students just bc of race. Like I know not all koreans are like that but racism is a problem because of the lack of diversity in Korea makes it really strong there. And the guests ALWAYS disregard the foreign guest as well as the hosts. I'm sure they think they are just being as understanding as possible but all they do is just gasp from shock and be like "wow didnt know koreans could be like this wtf" and then afterwards say "people will change their minds once they get to know you". And every time you can see the foreigner looks disappoint AF bc their problem still exists.

I understand the son in the second concern, seeing your parents fight and have this negative vibe in the house will sure make you an introvert,i barely talk to my sisters or mum. I stay in my room on my phone all day or sleep if i'm not at college. I'm not saying he's being a good son or i'm being a good daughter but parents don't even try to understand how much a word or an action can affect a child till they grow up and mostly see themselves as the victim. Where they are at fault as well. It frustrated me how they don't understand the son but i did,you can't understand someone if you haven't lived through it.

I think this is my favorite episode so far, the first one hits really really close to home and I totally understand. The thing is that with all these people who caused the problem, there's always a bigger story behind it. So even though it might sound like the person is totally bad, you can't judge right away because there's more to it than you think. This episode really made me cry and I hope the best for all of them.😌

And on top of that, I never got an apology or a hug after the beat. So I can say it was a hard time for me. I got beat until I was 15, then my mom eventually stopped doing it making it sound as if she was so considerate because she stopped doing it. I've heard only like 3 I love you from my mom ever. I only got my dad and even so there were times were he would be to drunk to help me. What I'm saying is, he got it way better. His dad used to ask for forgiveness and tried to involve more in his life. I hated my mom for a long time, but I then realized that that's the way she was raised, she didn't know better, and she was trying her best to make of me a good person. Because of her, I didn't become a drug addict or an alcoholic like most of my school friends. It wasn't the best way, and I sure as hell won't raised my kids like that, but I've learnt to forgive and forget. It was hard to do so because the aftermaths live with you for years, I think I'm still a bit careful and distant with the way I treat her, but I would never do such a thing a shut her out for 10 years. They're doing their best, even if is not the best way.

I think the 2nd problem is miscommunication between parents and their children. When you already comfortable being alone, you will feel hard to express your feelings and thoughts. Parents aren't always right and children aren't always wrong. They have to compromise. Just a reminder!!! For parents, when the husband and wife relationship is not good, the impact is not only on the relationship of the two. But also the lives and mindset of their children.

The younger generation is maybe a little more nicer but just a little. And i'm just shocked that everyone at the show find normal that koreans treat the guy like that just bcs they think he is a foreigner. That's horrible.

The jobless son really made me want to fight him through the screen, I really can't stand ungrateful people and still he had the cheek to act cocky? Yes, he has that image of how his family were when he was younger and his dad hitting him for not memorizing but seeing your parents work everyday whilst you do nothing is really not fair on them, hes living a comfortable life.

of the second case, I don´t think that getting beaten was the real reason of the son for not speaking to his dad because although is wrong I don´t think is a traumatic event, doesn´t make sense, i mean like is not something horrible, this seem so trivial for me , I think there are much worse things, maybe because I have had so many hardships. BUT I think that SOMETHING MORE happened, something really bad , that make the son this way, he obviously refuse his dad, and if you look at his way of talking he seems really shy, I´m sure something bad happened...

grissell anahi lopez incio who knows? everyone are different. This guy from my school left his home bc he had argument with his parents, now his parents are so desperate and ready to do anything for him. It's been a month he has still not come home. My female cousin had this argument with my uncle in someone's wedding reception and it's been three years they haven't spoken to each other. My point being there are people who take a grudge no matter how small or stupid it may be an hold on to it. This is more of pride issue tbh. Best would be to go to a professional.

If there is one thing this show has taught me it is that family's need to talk to each other. People need to talk to each other and openly express their feelings if something is making you unhappy. There's no point to collect years being unhappy when you could talk it out and change your life. A lot of people I know just lock themselves in their room because we've forgotten how to properly talk to each other face to face. Cell phones and the internet have done that. We have to balance out the scale of our online communication with in person interactions.

Okay, the husband wasn't right to neglect his family in the beginning, but that's no excuse for the wife to treat him like that when he's changed. I get that she had a really hard time, and I would side with her if the husband hadn't changed his ways after seeing how bad things were. Her attitude is toxic, it's not even her aloofness -it's her mistreating him and dominating him. He shouldn't let her do that either, like firmly say "No we can't just move the family to a small island for you to open up a small restaurant -we need to discuss this." Like what if their daughter turns out to just expect other people to be the same? No one's going to run around and get water for her and wait until she's done drinking it to put it back in the sink. Marriages are complicated AF, and you need compromising on BOTH sides -not just one. That's just unfair.

She's doing it on purpose. I understand her feelings but if she is not careful she will chase him aways. Marriage is about forgiveness and compromise. If you can't do either then why continue in a marriage. I think that now that she has voiced her feelings, it will get better. She should do that from now on.

I hope that boy can quickly realized that kind of friends won't take care of him when he's sick or misfortunate, people who love him will do that. But I also don't really agree with his father too, he turned down his son's dreaming. Human is not always be a child, they will grown up into adult, which they have to be responsible for themself. I too have a friend who his father thinks like that. He was in despair because he know he can do well at certain things, but his father didn't let him be. Fortunately my friend can see a small chance for himself, try to work harder on that while doing his father's favour. Now he's success and motivated people to not let go of their dream. :-) Being a good parent is not easy I know... with that dad's occupation, maybe he's just simply want his son live well.

Like you can't be this oblivious in the year 2017. Other people have come out on shows to talk about this multiple times. Like open your eyes people the world is fucked up.

I’m late but hitting your children should not be done over school or small stuff/ things we have little to no control over. That’s the stuff that stays with us and effects us emotionally. Hitting your child should only be considered for discipline if they hurt someone.

Also some of the stuff they are saying to the boy who looks foreign is really irritating. Someone can love themselves and the way they look and still have people hate on their looks. They just don’t want to address the bigger issues ingrained in their culture.
