Hello, September!
Spend a day with me cooking breakfast in a cozy English cottage, picking apples from an orchard, making apple pie and having a picnic under the golden setting sun.
Autumn aesthetic but make it realistic - without much home decor, staying on a budget this autumn, but also immersing yourself in fall aesthetic with seasonal activities.

Easy Apple Pie recipe:
150g cold butter
280g plain white flour
pinch of salt (if using salted butter then skip salt)
2 tbsp of sugar (about 40g)
1 egg
1-2 tbsp of cold water
Chop your butter into cubes & put into freezer for 10 minutes while prepping all other ingredients.
Combine flour with cold cubed butter by rubbing it between your palms. Add sugar and rub a bit more until you have a fine crumb.
Roughly whisk 1 egg and pour into the dough. Add a splash of water and mix by hand until you form a ball. It will still be a bit crumbly, but will stick together well.
Place the dough into the fridge for at least 20 minutes.
In the meantime peel your apples and chop into small cubes. Put them into a pan, add sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice to taste. I had about 5 tbsp of brown coconut sugar and 1 heaped tbsp of cinnamon + 1/2 of lemon. You can also add a splash of rum to add another layer of flavour. :)
Add a splash of water and simmer until apples are soft and the juice thickens.
Preheat the oven to 180C / 356F, roll out your dough to about 1/2 cm thick and transfer into a baking dish (mine was about 6" or 15cm with removable bottom). Pour apple filling inside and you can decorate the pie with the remaining dough however you like. Sprinkle some sugar on the top layer.
Bake for about 30 minutes until the pie looks lightly browned.
Enjoy hot or cold with ice cream! :)

This was another lovely video! Thunderstorms rolled through here today, finally breaking the heat wave and now I'm truly ready for all the autumn foods, colors, sweaters, books, scenery, etc... A favorite fall movie of mine is Arsenic and Old Lace with Cary Grant, a comedy set over Halloween from the 1940's. Another favorite is Dead Poets' Society. Blessings from Lisa in the U.S.
Summer is great for about a month and I stay in the house because I don't like the heat and humidity ,then there's the bugs. Spring and especially FALL!! are my favorite seasons. Fall colors and cozy evenings are the best in my opinion. Being born in October makes it even better.

I decorate sparsely but meaningfully, with cosy textiles, woodland motifs, candles and natural finds (pine scones, oak tree leaves and acorns...) and later, my mostly handmade little pumpkins and critters for All Hallows Eve 😉). Oh how I loved this🤎🍁🤎. Autumn is the season that touches my soul. I love everything about it, the cool, crisp days, the gorgeous maple trees, apple picking, pumpkins, gourds, cozy quilts and candles, baking and shorter days. Though it is September and still very hot and humid here in upstate New York, I have faith that Autumn is near and once again that cozy, warm, relaxing season that I await all year will be here. Aah thank you so much! It’s unusually hot in England today as well, but a lot of trees already look autumnal, leaves turned golden and you can feel autumn coming despite the heat! ☺️ I saw some photos of New York (both the city and some other areas) in autumn and I must say it looked spectacular! It will come your way full swing very soon 🍂

Yet another beautiful video. I have such a deep connection with Autumn and love it so much that I changed my middle name to Autumn. 🍁❤ I'm so glad that summer is finally ending and the air is getting crisp and colder. I love the shorter days and find so much inspiration in them. I better start to work on my own Autumn video for my channel!

The summer flew by and now already here is autumn again, though I can't say I'm so sad about it. You're so lucky to have a community orchard, we used to live in the home of Johnny Appleseed - the legend who spread apples across America by planting orchards - and the apples in Massachusetts are everywhere and delicious, but here in New York there are few orchards and not so beautiful, sadly. Yes those mice were a cute surprise! (Though luckily not the real ones 😅) Pies are the best! My other favourite is cherry pie, but that’s more summer than autumn.. And pecan pie.. and pumpkin pie.. I’m getting hungry now! 😄

I love this particular video. LOL. I am the same way, I dread not being able to decorate with a flare. I so agree that as I live on my own....well, my cat and I are the only dwellers here. :) I use to decorate seasonally when I lived in the country an dhad more space and I entertained a lot. But I mainly did it for me. And that is your point, right? Do it because it makes you feel good - finding that happy place. But you are so spot on that money should not define how I choose to 'decorate' to celebrate the seasons. That all said, apologies I am long winded - the air here has gotten colder and it is finally sweater weather here in Northern California. I live on the coastline - it is 45 mins away. And yet I can feel autumn. I was just in England and I marveled at the apple orchards! I am going to make your pie. As, give my home an autumnal facelift. Thank you for your thoughts and visuals. That book 'A Country diary of an Edwardian Lady' must be an absolute treasure for you, Missus Daria. The book is an escape, in a way, to a somewhat gentler era in outlook. The folk were more in harmony with Nature than their descendants of today. I suppose they were less frenetic in daily activity, hence the value of your 'slow living' philosophy.
The apple theme is so cosy. I love your baking videos; the finished pie is beautiful (that mushroom! 🍄) but watching baking and cooking processes are infinitely satisfying and relaxing ❤

I love autumn, but spring and summer are my favorite time of year. However, I manage to enjoy each new season, delighting in the uniqueness of each one and finding joy in what each has to offer. I have begun adding autumn touches here and there. I intend to be light-handed with decorating this season. Maybe it's because I'm unwilling to let go of summer just now. I love the sunshine and long days! I don't want to rush into a new season, but let them gently overlap one another as they do here in California.

Hello Daria, I have always loved Autumn the most out of all the seasons since I was a child. The colors, the cooler weather and perhaps the proximity to the holidays has something to do with it as well. It's still quite hot here in the States (very hot) and I long for Summer to be over. We have also had very few rainy days, another thing I love. 🥰

Ooh it’s my favourite way to cook them! I also add some dried herbs and garlic and then roast or put them under a grill, and they release all the sweet juices & taste sooo good!
