Playing the original Helldivers on the NES was some of the best years of my life.

I love how the one guy in the pixel art is just getting yeeted by a stratagem (I get the feeling it wasn’t particularly accidental)

Really glad they had a little tidbit of this on the stratagem hero game in the ship that you can play. I always wanted to hear more of the soundtrack of the game in 8-bit this is awesome!

A Helldiver could work well in Broforce. Press special button and do Stratagem input and you have four different you can use each once. Similar to DoubleBro Steven. 500kg EAT OPS Gatling Sentry Perhaps

the original HD theme is in 5/4 (most musical pieces are in 4/4) and maybe the artist didn't catch it?

@@p0dski oh yah for sure it's in 5/4. You can hear that even in the other covers of the theme. This one though, the tempo of certain sections goes off beat from other sections in the same point in time. I think you're right about the ai part. That, or this sounds like a really rough draft. I hope the artist releases it again though when it's better. Would love to add this to my hd2 Playlist!

Hey, thx for the comment! I was aware of the 5/4 and it feeled weird for me as it was the first time for me working with it haha. I agree with you on some part beiing off beat. I recreate the song by ear ear with limited time :p Maybe that is why some part are off :) I was listening to both song at the same time to make sure it was on beat hahaha

Damn, this really reminds me of playing Star Wars: Dark Forces.

This is somehow nostalgic.

It’s a little busy. I feel like you need to simplify this for retro style. You don’t need to add every layer from the orchestral version. Retro game music was beautiful in its simplicity and melodies. This song has a great main melody but when you do all the other layers underneath in the same type of sounds it all muddles together and sounds a bit messy in my opinion. But still a way cool idea to try and translate this to retro!
