I main the laser build as well! I find that starting the cannon from hip fire, then zooming in allows me to line up the head much more easy. Once you get the hang of it I can reliably take out multiple rocket devastators from tens of meters away. Another big tip is for whatever reason, the automaton weak point head seems to have most of the hitbox on the forehead portion of the head. (You'll notice that automatons lean forward when you stun them, exposing more of the top side) One way I superbly increased my efficiency with the laser weapons is to get any kind of high ground and crouch/prone. It makes you a smaller target for rockets, makes the lasers even more precise, and strangely it makes popping the heads much faster when shooting from above. my laser automaton loadout: scythe, grenade pistol, stun nades - laser cannon, shield pack, eagle airstrike, precision strike terminid loadout: scythe, revolver, incendiary impact - laser cannon, rover, EAT, 500kg (clipping mobs with incendiary makes em melt so quick. Hipfire is king vs bugs, I almost never sight in unless im fighting bile spewers. hip fire, strafe away, and keep lining up your laser to the heads and watch them melt. Revolver is exclusively for stalkers.

I think no death was confusing people who kept asking why I included it when teammates died, so I've been leaving it ambiguous for the most recent ones. Spoiler-free :P

It's fun to use the Lascannon against bots in cold planets occasionally. I get a kick out of melting automaton mortars and AA Guns with it on all sides, which reminds me that since it has the same armor penetration as the AMR and AC, those two weapons should be able to destroy them as well if your orbitals/eagles don't get them all.

They do indeed. AC takes about 3 shots, AMR takes about 5. Give or take a shot depending on damage from other sources.

man the hulks on this one. so many hulks and the flanks made by the bots too, but you and your team kept it together like professionals. good job

​@@newspiked7385 AMR has higher DPS, longer effective range, is subjectively easier use to use with it's magnified scope, and as long as your team is cohesive, you can get a full resupply every 3 or so minutes - but if you're spread out, often seperated, or otherwise struggle to get consistent resupplies, the nigh-infinite ammo of the laser cannon can really make the difference. tl;dr guns are fun :)

I used to play a lot with the Laser Cannon. Great weapon but now that they fixed the scopes I find myself preferring the AMR. It's basically the same thing but it trades unlimited ammo for easier aiming. Actually the Eruptor nerf probably played a bigger role, I used the LC as a primary weapon against everything except the things that deserved an Eruptor shot. Besides, remember the cryptic patch notes that said something like "reduced the damage from Laser Cannon to massive enemies"? It used to take about 3 seconds of laser into the belly of the Factory Strider to kill it. It takes longer now. Still, there's no better weapon than the LC when it comes to bringing down enemy gunships.

Things like the butts of the bile spewers and charger butts take less damage from direct fire and more from shrapnel/explosive. Explosive does "structural damage". This is why you can mag dump an entire ICE pack from a sickle into one but destroy it and it's buddy with a single grenade.

The only downside of beam weapons in this game is the atrotious sights. Like, the beam have literally infinite range. Why not put a real sniper scope?

Yeah, that's what I don't like so much about them. They're precision weapons, but both the beam itself and the sights aren't easy to aim with.

That and also the overheating being shown by that tiny heatsink icon, like why isnt there a more obvious one on the gun itself as if the actual ingame helldiver doesnt need to know about it at all lol

@@meinnase Exactly, and this is even a more annoying problem on super wide monitors; I have to turn my head to see that little icon far off in the corner. First world problems for sure, but annoying and unnecessary nonetheless.

Anything that pews pews or gives big booms is very good.

Ah yes.. the powerpointer.. holding the presentation even vs the strongest of automatons. But every time i use it i wish i had either the Anti Material or Recoilless rifle, autocannon - quaasar cannon or even the spear.

Imo Laser cannon is v good on bots for handling all situations but excels at gunships and heavies like tanks, turrets, and hulks. I personally don't like that even tho the beam is so wide it seems the actual hitbox is a lot more precise, like aiming for hulk eye. On planets like this as well, there's so much micro-variance in the ground that it doesn't really affect running/using other weapons but for laser cannon it's constantly throwing aim off by just enough to miss the head. Definitely a dope weapon to bring on a team mission but I wouldn't run it solo. Imo AMR + grenade pistol is still king, and AC is quite good as well.

Pretty much how I feel about it too. Keeping the laser on target can be weirdly difficult, and feeling like I need the shield just to stay in the open long enough is a little annoying. Still a fun option though and has its place!

I'm so happy I revisited the Laser Cannon because it is sooo versatile, it may not kill quickly, but the variety of things it can put down reliably without needing to spend ammo is sweet.

Yeah, that is definitely the biggest draw for me. Not having to worry about ammo for the most part is what initially drew me to the Sickle for the longest time. I used that gun for most of my playtime, having recently switched over to the Dominator for those satisfying one-shots on Raiders, Devastators, and Berserkers. Lately I've been alternating between the AC, AMR and LC depending on my mood and team composition. If I'm with my buds I'll run the AC and three attack strategems of the orbital/eagle variety because I know they aren't greedy with the ammo. If it's randos that seem friendly, I'll run the AMR with the Supply Pack so I can support them effectively or be able to resupply myself if they get greedy. And I run the LC and Shield Pack if they are supremely greedy randos and I just fend for myself with unlimited ammo.

@@toddsilverwolfe I love running supply pack in general, Reminds me of the good days I spent in the past as support in BF1, just helping out my team by helping them stay in the fight. It gives me that same fuzzy feeling.

Gawd I wish the Scythe was better. I remember someone breaking down the dps and the Sickle had a full 1/3 more dps. If the Scythe and Laser Cannon damage pulse was 1sec faster, the things would be amazing. The LC just feels so gimped when you're trying to burn down a chicken walker and the Autocannon chad just 2 taps the thing with ease or the Sickle is acting like a Stalwart. Why does the LC sway so much? Is it a laser or a super soaker with that kind of fire hose recoil?

Apparently they fixed the pulse frequency, or so I heard? I like the Sickle for bugs but for bots the windup kinda annoys me. Still prefer a DMR over either tbh

I know in my heart the laser cannon slaps on bots, but I'm an AC fiend and the laser just doesn't give that dopamine hit I get blasting off AC rounds into devastators.

💯. AC and AMR just feel too good. Really grown to like the Diligence CS too for Devastators and Troopers, it's amazing now.

Any tips for fighting berserkers? Sometimes i mag dump AMR and they are still alive

With the AMR, a single headshot should do it, or you can instead aim for the midsection which has more health but is also a weakpoint. I spam as well sometimes but it's not really the most efficient kill.

Your voice sounds a bit tired, did you do many tries before this one? Or too many videos, if second maybe you need some rest from making the videos?

Thanks for asking, actually the last video, this one, and the one after next (bug video tomorrow first) are all from the same operation, so it was pretty smooth to have 3 upload-worthy runs in one op. It's more that when it's late at night I have to keep my voice down :P. I get a little more tense as well as I'm trying to minimise voice but there's so many callouts I want to make, lel. Need myself a man-cave!
