The story referenced here was a Norwegian folktale known as "Tatterhood" and was collected by Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe Norwegian contemporaries of the Brothers Grimm whose collections also included stories such as "Three Billy Goats Gruff", "King Grizzlebeard", "The Heartless Giant", and "The City Mouse and The Country Mouse".

@@HellboyBr11 I love both this short film and the Guillermo Del Toro films and the only thing I wanna forget even that I haven't seen it is the 2019 reboot.

TBH, there's spin-off potential for the troll sister. Call me crazy, but a badass trollhunting troll lady with the world's most powerful spoon and a goat as her steed sounds like good times to me.

This is a surprisingly faithful adaptation of the short comic.

Just a friendly story told by one monster who hates monsters to a kindred spirit.

This is one of my fave hellboy stories and you handled it so, so well. Good tone, animation, voice acting, and art. Thanks for such a treat!

I really like the video, the Troll Witch is one of my fav Hellboy stories, so seeing it in motion was a great treat. The voice acting is great, love the witch voice but also how Hellboy sounds when he said the "and then she married some prince or something" because it really fits my personal headcanon/interpretation. thanks for making and sharing this!

Amazing video! Perfect atmosphere and animation. Hellboy jumped right out of the comic book pages!

How does this not have a million views???!! This is amazing. The artwork is so well done. For some reason it reminds me of the opening scene of The Golden Army when Broom’s telling HB that bedtime story.

Amazing work and perfect voice acting. Hellboy is a perfect story background for this. I like it.

2:55 I think Hellboy has been watching too many Disney Movies, because That sounds like how They would have ended the story.

Yeah, this was fantastic. As an actor, I would happily offer to work on any future productions you do in this vein (HUGE Hellboy fan). You nailed the tone, sound effects, voice work, just well done all around.

We need a Hellboy animated movie that goes to the theaters.

An animated Hellboy sounds so obvious that I'd assume it already existed. The comic art style is so unique, its literally like 90% of what makes the comic so iconic, and you can enhance that iconic look by adding motion and sound to it! After Spider-Verse, you'd think that more comic book adaptations in animation would follow but what else can you expect from the worst timeline?

I remember reading this out of a Trade Paper back. Just as badass here as it is in the book.

Well, definitely worth watching. Really good short story. Especially the way you say so much without actually spelling it out.

I love that story, but I’m working on some other animations currently. If I come back to hellboy this would be the next I do, if not The Corpse!
