Only one small thing that sounds different to my ear. I hear "you'd hear me ring that bell" so 'you'd' future tense, not 'you' present tense.

same! I heard about them about 3 years ago and I'm so happy they've blown up even more since then. They're some of the greatest lyricists I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

"Begged her please, as she raised her fist before she spoke." honestly didn't know that was the line in the song. I always though it was ",as he raised his pistol pouring smoke." which honestly hits harder

I admit, I was skeptical about how much I'd enjoy this version, but you gave me chills, madam! Your voice has just the right grit and "gravel," so to speak to really make this rendition work. I'd almost even go so far as to say you have a better voice for this type of song than the creators of it.

Between this and the Anna cover, this is by far my favorite. There's a soulfulness in the vocals that really nails that outlaw country folk vibe. It's exactly the sort of thing I'd expect to hear played live in some smoky dive outside of Tallahassee.

This was this first I heard this song. It kept getting recommended in other videos, but this was the first I clicked on it (though on my TV).
