@Jared Schmidt I don't have too many hours in the game, but most of my ~50 hours are in NPA servers. Never had a problem.

TIP - if the game commander isn’t spawning tanks, make sure to drive a truck or two off the HQ spawn point . The game will auto spawn a light or medium tank for you shortly thereafter . Too many vehicles on the HQ spawn won’t allow it to random spawn a tank for you

Amazing guide ! Coming from an hell let loose veteran. Especially talking about how important sound and tank mark are. There two advance tip I would like to add : 1 is to have your tank commander leave the tank in specific situation, windmills on kurks for example, to use his binocular to spot enemy tanks while yours is hiding. This create insanely easy tank v tank fights 2 if you get shot first don't panic. Fully stop the tank, place it in reverse gear, return fire. Then the very second before the enemy reload do a harsh 30 degree reverse turn. Most of the time they will either hit your tracks or turret, since no one readjust their aim, return fire and kill them. Sound absurd but I cannot count the amount of time this saved me.

#1 tip very important. Also very important that it’s your commander if your crew mates don’t have anything other than a pistol. Better chance of survival if your spotter has some firepower vs infantry.

That last comment about just having fun with the small battles is key I believe. So, I played in a tank crew for the first time last night and had an absolute blast. The tank commander was really kind and helped me out and encouraged me, I got three truck kills and killed a jumbo that flanked us and had gotten the first shot off. That was super satisfying to do an watch the big boi blow the hell up. I also turned alot of people into bits, god I love this game

Great guide; communication and people who know what their doing i think are the key elements, plus map reading, possitioning and patience, kill three guys with HE may not worth it if it calls out your possition to enemy tanks, in the same way that take a nap on the MG trigger it's a great way to spot tank possitions. Communication, crew and map reading it's my focus when i'm on a tank.

I absolutely love this game! I got it for the Xbox before it released, and most of my gameplay is utilizing tanks. Great stuff man, keep it up! I’m excited for the Eastern front to come to Xbox

I have almost 600hr on this game and havent tried tanking yet. I like the guides because eventually i will and knowing what the tank is thinking is helpful. Sorta seems like recon tank, heavy tank, and two infantry squads would be an ideal battlegroup. I think anyway, lot of gameplans there.

Thanks dude! Haven’t really seen anybody talking about this stuff on YT yet, and it’s the most common stuff I see people doing wrong in HLL.

One thing I recommend when catching a Tiger broadside is aiming for the ammo rack rather than the engine. That flat plate of armor between the skirt and turret ring towards the front is very easy to get an ammo detonation.

Of course you can 100% go for an engine shot if you have its fat ass.

There is no ammo detonation in this game. You should always be going for engine if possible. Worst case scenario is you just get hull damage. Best case scenario is you get hull and engine damage.

Clicked on a whim after watching a sniper video. Most this tips seemed obvious to me, but didn’t consider collapsing squads to view tank crews. Surprisingly I learned something new.

You mentioned 'nearly impossible to defuse.. satchel charges'. I've not played for nearly a month but have played update 10. How does one even try a defuse? Only a certain role or..? Cheers buddy and keep the vids coming. Great stuff.

You have to hold F on it for several seconds. So charges are usually set for 30 seconds… you have to leave the tank, fight the infantry waiting for you, find the satchel, then hope there’s enough time to defuse. In my hundreds of hours of tanking I’ve seen satchels be defused 3 times. I’ve only defused 1 ever.

You know what's funny? One time I got downed as infantry while next to a friendly tank. I tried to warn them that the enemy was near them, they didn't listen. And I used prox chat.

"Sometimes they forget to..." I believe it's more that they are very busy to check all the boxes of what everyone else wants at that moment. SLs might be trying to find a place to place a garry or where the enemy are pushing from, etc. Let's not forget a pet peeve I have and it's way to much useless chatter within the command chat. I don't care to have to listen how well someone did in that last attack. Save it to local chat. Then, everyone can get accurate and updated info from the whole team.

Another crucial advice is to learn all the objects : traversibles vs obsticles. Like, everyone should know that electricity posts on Kursk is not traversible with tanks, but is with trucks.

Tank commander should be ordering them on the command chat

How to be a good driver: Step 1: play war thunder (Literally just play that game, you'll understand the rule of how the tank works from terrain, angle, and depression) How to be a good gunner: Step 1: don't shoot randomly Step 2: tell the drive to stop moving when engaging the enemy (what's stabilizer? this is WW2 bruv) Step 3: take your time to aim the weak spot Step 4: goodluck have fun
