When that happens to me, it usually means I'm surrounded and need to fall back and respawn closer to HQ, or my squad has underestimated the number of enemies at a location and it's time to die. There's only so much cover to take when you've been flanked. For every awesome wall or hedge to shoot from, there are usually 2 to 3 exposed flanks that you can't watch 100% of the time while advancing. Keeping an eye on the map to know where squads are covering is crucial. Walls, hedges and cover are really only the most basic part of this game.

You'll almost never know where the shots come from if you're reacting unless it's a surprise 1 on 1. You gotta know where they *might* be before you're there. Slow it down and think "where would I cross/hide/shoot if I was the other guy." Watch the flanks, don't sprint if you're close (unless you've been spotted), and look everywhere on your screen.

  • @DrMacabre

When you hear bullets flying, you are getting shot at 😁 look at the blood location on your screen when you are getting shot, it tells you a pretty good information about where the shot came from. Also pay attention to who’s being shot around you, you can easily guess where ennemies are just by looking at other team members behavior. Trust your ears too, move your head around can help you locate where the ennemies are firing from.

This is somewhat correct. Yes, some squads need to flank. However, some squads need go attack the front. This will create a front with the enemy team while your teammates flank. If everyone flanks, then that side is now the front.

  • @53strat55

    @53strat55

The problem is some squads need to attack the front. If everyone happens to flank what happens in some games, they will adjust their line. That is the problem with the game. You should not define a good player by how much he dies although it can be a good indication of general skill. People also get steamrolled in games so it does not matter how skilled you are. Its a game played as a collective, the guy is wrong with calling it a verry hardcore individual shooter. Only in city maps you can have more of a influence as a individual, most maps are open so you are verry limited. Short analogy of the game.

    - Use crouch running less in open areas. I learned that in RO2. Unless your sprint speed is the same as your crouch running speed or if you have concealment when moving from cover to cover, moving slowly in an open or at least a wide sight line can fuck you up. - Take the long route when trying to flank or even trying to push an enemy. Being a combat engi main in SQUAD, its surprisingly effective when you waste 5 extra minutes not engaging with the enemy HAB to find and disable their radio and causing the enemy team to pull back at the last second when taking a point, compared to having several tickets and time wasted trying to push the HAB head on with the entirety of the friendly team. - Take your time. Seriously, the game isnt tarkov, relax a little, most of the mistakes many players, including myself, make is about rushing in without planning or surveying the area ahead. This can cause a push or defence to fail very hard. And i mean VERY hard.

Yeah one thing this game could *sorely* benefit from and *needs* is a tutorial rather than just some half-assed pop ups. Trying to read that shit when you’re in an intense situation is such a ridiculous expectation for a blueberry who literally just dropped into their first game. I guess the point is for your fellow players to teach how things go to a finer extent, which is fine, except I find that 75% of the time nobody has time for that shit when arty is raining down and they need that garry/node/at gun/etc up NOW not 30 seconds from now. As a relatively new player with ~70 hours I’ve had genuinely helpful and understanding people, and then I’ve had the opposite. Although interestingly I find that armor and recon units tend to have more easy going teachers rather than the infantry units which I find intriguing. Regardless, this game *needs* a tutorial system. Squad has one, and while it does just bombard you with information at least you have some semblance of an idea of what’s going on after you go through it rather than HLLs method of “Here’s a rifle, figure it out yourself.”

The beginning tips about stopping and scanning seems like such an obvious thing, but you would be surprised at how you, as a gamer, can forget that tip. Especially if you play other FPS games that are fast paced. Taking your time, slowing it down, using your eyes and cover - its a must. I forget from time to time because I'm just wanting to rush in (despite the games can go on for 1hr30m, not need to rush at all times). Whether because I'm frustrated or I been getting a lot of kills. I find myself coming back to this video fairly often before I start playing for the day, just to remind me of the tips to be successful. And it always works. Pretty good advice the rule of "Stop; Look and Listen" has been drilled into infantry for generations. One other tip I can give that Is that you should stand off from a window by 1-2 feet and not stick your muzzle out of it, the amount of people I have seen that blow their position by sticking their gun out the window is staggering. Unless its a MG that needs to be on a bipod then you should really give yourself an extra foot of space not only will you not announce your position to anyone looking down the road but you will add additional concealment by being in the darker shadows of the unlit room.

In my experience sprinting is *not* what gets me killed most of the time in HLL - it is being prone in what I think is cover (vegetation) and getting picked off by someone I didn't even know was there, following closely by tanks or artillery explosions. In more arcadey games like Battlefield then yes, sprinting is a good way to get killed because you can't react quickly enough when you run into an enemy, but the situations in HLL where you run into an enemy and it comes down to being able to get the shot off first are few and far between.

Good video, I will saybi have 1 disagreement. Crouch running might make you smaller but also slower. So I only use it when it provides a real cover advantage, like next to a wall or hill. Otherwise I'm running or sprinting.

Standing still makes it really hard for players to see you. Brush and foliage can be used to hide your silhouette. If you hold an angle try not to move. If you are peeking try to do so in short bits ie peek and keep still for .5 seconds to give your eyes time to find silhouettes or movement than hide behind cover. You can also peek and strafe which might draw attention but than quickly duck down. There are many different ways to peek and use them to your advantage. Dont be afraid to hip fire in close range. Most guns are pretty accurate being hipfired and close engagment typically means first person to shoot wins. Also if you get shot you typically can prone right away and they'll think you're down. Learn how to use map to predict where enemies are likely to be, where safe areas are and where flanks will likely come from. Typically other players will form 'walls' or lines facing towards enemy locations. If players push to far into a flank its likely the enemy is flanking around a different way. Also flanks are 400 meters typically.

I Average about 17-20 Kills a game with 1 or 2 deaths. (As a rifleman), and this video just put in to words what I was thinking, my 2 cents, treat the game like reality, don't play in like Cod, battlefield, etc. Play it how you would actually act/move/shoot in real life. (I am always 100-200m away from objective) I take my time with shots, only shoot when I know it's going to hit, (accuracy is +- 60%), I move slow, cover to cover, wait for teammates to cross fields/open areas first to see if they get shot at to know if it is safe. again, I am playing it like me in a war scenario, and not as a gamer. again just my 2 cents.

My main problem with this game is that flanks take forever to complete and still some random dude can kill you with no warning. And if you stick to your squad they WILL give away your position by firing at everything.... :-(

By no means am I good at this game, but I usually try go machine gunner, spraying down on the position of your enemies will maybe get you a kill, but guess what, you'll never know, that's what I love about this game, its realism is on another level. I also love to use this tactic to suppress the enemy position as best as I can to allow my team to push forward. If you're machine gunner then do this, dont just run around expecting to run and gun, set yourself up and suppress your enemy.

I've been playing in pavlov VR and all of these weapons seem so chill in comparison. The Thomson doesn't have much recoil and has much better iron sights than in pavlov and the mp 40 has very high recoil that it takes a learning curve to get. My very first life in the game I got 3 kills with the ppsh. I've noticed though it's teamwork and communication that leads to a lot of deaths of done wrong. Sometimes i am set up with a squad in a defensive position and watch tbe score rise, other time we are being pushed hard or pushing and spawn points are in a bad location or to far away to get Into a good position.

Possibly be buying this in the next few days. Not played many fps pc games, mainly H&G and Verdun. And only been pc gaming for just over a year. I did join a battle during the last free weekend they held, but I was all over the shop, didn't know my ar*e from my elbow, and ended up just quitting after about 10-15 mins.... So I'd just like to say while I'm here, if by chance I end up on anybody in here's team in the near future, I sincerely, sincerely, apologise.

It's a very frustrating game for the first while. You'll want to quit. You'll be tired of running forever only to get headshot by an unseen enemy. I know, that was me, too. Stick with it. Watch a lot of HLL videos, they help. Now, it's easily one of the funnest games I've ever played and I look forward to it like no other game.

The biggest problem with this game is the graphics are superb except when it comes to troops. It’s ridiculously hard to see people. Not too mention every single weapon is iron sights which is incredibly unrealistic. Yes people I know it’s a WWII game but they still had optics back then.

Soldiers didn't have optics on there weapons in ww2 because they were bulky many other weapon like anti air guns that did and sniper rifles meant for long range which are in the game.
