Great video but there is at least one error. Don't know what game it was but the one listed as Helicopter Rescue on Odyssey 2 is wrong , it's some other game

O and one missing from the list: the arcade laserdisc version of Cobra Command! Would have been 84 or 85 ish.

I appreciate the effort. Mainly 2 points: 1. Pure shoot em up with helicopter shaped player, I would have left out from the list 2. There are some notable mistakes along the line. Other than that, nice video!

1982 to 1985/86 was a huge step up in graphics, as much as we might laugh at it now. Cheers for the memories!

I feel like Desert Combat should get a mention here. Sure it's a mod but the Battlefield devs didn't even think it was possible to do helicopters on the engine until the modders did it and it lead the way to Battlefield Vietnam.

0:30 Choplifter was originally published by Broderbund in 1982 for the Apple II, Commodore 64, IBM and other personal computers. However, the Sega arcade version, as depicted in the video, was not released until 1985.

The Strike series was just too much fun Desert,Jungle,Urban those 3 are gems I know there was Soviet and nuclear strike but wasn’t too into those.I wish all were packaged together and released to buy on Xbox or PS

Thunder Blade was stunning at the time. Sega had a special cabinet that spun. Very short game though.

Quick comment on Apache 3 - That game was an INCREDIBLE looking arcade machine, witth extremely fast scaler graphics and a hell of a lot of stuff being thrown around the screen. Unfortunately MAME has never been able to get it working properly so the ground is invisible and the horizon keeps flying up and down, making it look like reality is collapsing at the sight of your mighty helicopter. If you want to see how it really looks, I found a few auctions listings for the arcade cab that have some filmed footage. Technically interesting is that the arcade machine has three CPUS - a V30 (8086 clone), a 68000 and a Z80. Talk about having your 80s hardware cake and eating it!

For a helicopter that was a massive failure and scrapped after only two were built, the comanche got a shitload of video games 😅

i was here looking for something like heliborne, but after that was made they just kinda stopped making helicopter games didnt they? they only seem to have them in triple aaa titles as kind of side shows now...

Apache 3 seemed bugged, as if the ground was missing. In theory it could've been over water, but trees rarely grow on water...

I don't know if it's sold outside of Japan, but the reason I became interested in helicopter video games was the arcade game Air Inferno released by Taito.

@@mikelightowler5220 The Amiga is a 16bit Machine from the late 80s/early 90s. The Amstrad an 8bit machine from the 80s, similar to the C64.
