As part of the 'Wisdom Working for the Earth-Buddhism & Environmental Action Forum' in Lerab Ling, Helena Norberg-Hodge will give an online talk on the topic of "Local Futures: A Call for Systemic Change Toward Localization".
This forum will take place in Lerab Ling, from 4-6 June 2022, 1h north of Montpellier, France.
Most of the talks, round tables and workshops will be in French however, 5 speakers will give their talks in English:
-Ringu Tulku Rinpoche (only ONSITE), Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje (recorded message shared only onsite)
-Helena Norberg-Hodge, Jigmi Y. Thinley and Dekila Chungyalpa (ONLINE). **These 3 talks will be live streamed in English only, here on Lerab Ling’s KZread channel.**
This forum aims to bring together environmental action and Buddhist wisdom, to open a dialogue that will serve a great number of people.
Conferences, round tables, workshops and meetings with local associations will make up the programme around the theme of interdependence. It will also be an opportunity to meet the many local players who have responded to our invitation, in order to forge links and learn from each other's practices. We wish to join forces to draw together a sustainable future in common projects.

BIOGRAPHY OF HELENA NORBERG-HODGE-Environmental activist, author and film-maker.
Linguist, author and filmmaker, Helena Norberg-Hodge is the founder and director of the international non-profit organisation, Local Futures, which raises awareness about the power of going local to restore ecological and human wellbeing. On top of having co-founded the International Forum on Globalization and the Global Ecovillage Network, she is the convenor of World Localization Day. This day (June 20th) explores the power of localization and honours the many efforts and initiatives that foster ecological economies, thriving communities and healthy local food systems. Helena is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Right Livelihood Award (aka the “Alternative Nobel Prize”), which she received in 1992 on behalf of the Ladakh Ecological Development Group for preserving the culture and traditional values of Ladakh against the onslaught of tourism and development. Besides helping to initiate localization movements, she has authored several books, such as Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh and produced the award-winning documentary ‘The Economics of Happiness’.
