My Uncle was a Priest at St. Helena's Cathedral and Carroll College for 39 years before he passed. Father People. The people's Priest. I lived a block away from the church.
Grew up in Helena, and my folks still live here. Although I haven't' actually resided in Helena in 30 years, I still call it my hometown. It probably will be my hometown forever!
This town is nice and clean
When you look at front of church. The building on the left is old Cathedral High School. I have a class ring from the 50's, It's so cool, the church is on it.
I have watched a lot of your Montana videos. I don't feel the need to drive from my area of Montana so much after watching a drive through of the other parts. I retired out of southern Indiana to Cut Bank for good reasons. Helena may well be the most beautiful city, but, it is still a city to me and thanks for the tour. Now, back to fishing.
I live in helena right now. Moved here from Texas. I moved here in November 2019. I've been in the Capitol building. I love helena.
That was the cathedral of Saint Helena. Beautiful.

Yes it is. I've been there too.
Perfect land, a beautiful place!
I drove the length of Montana, from West to east, in 1976. About 80 mph, as fast as my little Chevette Scooter would go. No speed limit. It seemed like Montana went on forever. Big sky. Big land.

cvross1 : unfortunately, you never see the best parts of any state when you take the interstates, as they usually were routed through the flattest and most blah, areas.
Helena is a very pretty little town. Loved the church. Gorgeous. I can’t wait for the capitol video!! Especially since it’s so old. Nice video, Russ. 🐾❤️🐾
Helena added to my bucket list!
I'm from San Antonio Antonio Texas and Helena Montana is my home now and has been for 1 year as of today.
Excellent footage. thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm from Bonners Ferry, ID but also grew up in Townsend, MT so been to Helena A LOT and always enjoyed it ! Minus the winters, that's why I live in Spokane Valley, WA, actually 4 seasons hahah but Helena is such a pretty area
Good tour. One of the nicest-looking capital cities in the country. What a difference from, say, Trenton, NJ.
Thanks for the video; brings back some memories. One more thing: Go Bengals!
My daughter lived in one of the houses in Readers alley. Awesome Russ.follow Rvtv...
Nice pleasant, relaxing drive with you. Thank you.

Gold Digger yes, I currently live in Helena and the winters are awful. Since I’ve lived here for so long I don’t mind them too much anymore. Tons of snow and tons of cold.
Thank you for the beautiful tour...
I love your videos, thanks for the ride!
What a great town and you captured it beautifully! Safe travels!
Your video quality is virtually like being there, excellent!
What a lovely town! Thank you for sharing such a great video!
Real nice video Russ! Thanks for sharing.
Sure looked like a beautiful day in Helena, thanks for showing us around...
That was a nice drive, enjoyed it... I had traveled through there years ago with a band and we played near that dome building as well as stayed with the Webers from Weber Mandolins, beautiful place...
Thanks ! I love your video of Last Chance Gulch- Old Town.
That's amazingly beautiful old architecture. Those winters are way too brutal for me, lol. Good you can visit with your friend. 😊👍
Wow, I took a pic in front of the Capitol, many many moons ago and we stayed for a few days at Carroll College.....what a good memories of that place.....thanks
Love riding through places like this and seeing the different structures of buildings. Looked to be a fairly clean place apposed to other cities I 'v seen. What an in creditable Church and I bet it's that way inside also. Thank you.
Hey Russ! Pretty town, beautiful architecture. -30, -40 No thanks! Did that for years Enough! Late for work because the vehicle is frozen to the ground! Reeder's Alley is one of my favs from your last trip. Thanks for the ride!🙋♀️🌻
Thank you, your videos are beautiful. Best wishes from France.
Seems like a nice town with beautiful views! I would love to live there for sometime!
You get around quick one minute your here the next over there. Way to go it's cool 😎😊
My home town! Moved to Montana from MN 15 years ago. Love it here.
Hey Russ!! Great job as always sir!! Stay safe out there!!
Thanks for the video. My son got a job in Helena. I was so worried about the place but now I saw the place, I feel a lot better. Thanks so much.
What a lovely town.
Hi there. I'd like to make a few corrections to your video! What you are referring to as "old town" (Last Chance Gulch) is actually Downtown Helena. Additionally, what you referred to as "downtown" is just Prospect Avenue. Just one of the few main stretches with stores and whatnot. Just from a local Helenan! Thanks for visiting our little city!
I live in helena just east of town. Yes, the winters are not much fun. Plowing snow on an atv at 0 degrees is a little cold.

welcome to my hometown!
Great job 💥keep going 💥
Two years ago I visited Helena City. St.. Helena Catedral it's beautiful but before you go there please read the story about St. Helena so you will understand that art better. Also please hike in the near by park so you gonna have the view on the city and the mountains on the other side
Second Beautiful country Russ.Thanks
You have to like winter to live here last 3 winters have had a ton of snow and very cold temps.
I've never been to Montana. One of these days I will get away. I like your videos.
Good video, I would know, I live in Helena! 73 Ed
I live in Northern Virginia and just came across this video. The farther west I have ever been has been Estes Park, Colo. where I spent the summer working with the park service. Makes me want to go back. How far is Helena from Custer's battlefield. Thats another place I want to visit. Enjoyed the video.
I might have to take a drive to Helena, when I travel, I go to local chocolate shops and The Parrot on Last Chance Gulch is my favorite! They ship in winter.
My kind of town, to many years in Phoenix Arizona (35 yrs) :(
new subscriber just today, I am SO glad it rolled up in my suggested! I love it, I have Montana on my bucket list ..i'm waving bk to you lol safe travels ☉

I went to visit a Glacier national park year ago, it's beautiful. Camping there is another experience, unforgetable.
Great videoing
yes it's way too cold. I used to walk to work in the Montana winter. But sucked it up and got myself a car.
Looks like Helena is RV friendly as there were many RV's parked along the streets.
Where was the Coast Guard recruiters office at remember signing up in Nov 1987 there but snowy then.
I've been in the cathedral too
I have both driven through the entire state east to west on I- 90 and then met up at the I- 25 to go to my final destination of Denver CO. That drive was a lot more economically efficient than the flight to Helena from Phoenix AZ when I lived in Glendale AZ. It seemed like a flight into Montana was twice as long as any drive I would have due to that entire area basically being all regional airports. 7 1/2 flight because my layover was in Salt City Utah (A International Airport) to Helena Montana (A Regional Airport) ! I would take the 2 day drive from AZ to MT over the 7 1/2 hour flight.
🙋. Hello Russ! That is a beautiful place your staying at. I loved the drone footage looking out over the valley. I love how the clouds shadow across the land. I love old Churches. By any chance , is this the Cathedral of Helena? History dates back to 1908. The architect was from Washington, D.C., this was interesting, as this architect was sent abroad, because of his extensive knowledge of Cathedrals of Europe he presented designs in Romanesque & Gothic. Gothic was chosen. The sight also offers a virtual tour. Have a Wonderful Day!
Church looked like it was modeled from the Votiv Kirche in Vienna Austria.
Looks like a nice place to visit in the summer. DUH If I lived there in the winter, I'd go to bed at Thanksgiving and stay there till Easter. It gets cold enough here in Iowa. You can have the -30* temps all you want. BURR, my feet are cold just thinking about it. Happy trails.

After last winter's polar vortex, I can't go through another brutal winter like that for a few more years or I'll go totally nuts. Twice a decade is enough.

@@golddigger9326 .....Global warming, imo, should be renamed "increased weather extremes" or "intensified weather fluctuations"---something that won't lock down a specific description such as warming.
We went to a friends wedding in Helena over 20 years ago. It was acute town then. We then went to Glacier National Park since we were so close. My wife and I want to do some traveling/site seeing and maybe a day or two camping in campgrounds with some facilities. I have reviewed all that is out there. I have narrowed it down to a “roadtreck” type vehicle or a van like yours or a conversion van. I want a daily driver and it would replace my 4x4 truck that I hardly use.
Great video! I wish 'The Sleeping Giant' was featured also.
Hey Russ, Just Perfect, V MAN
Great vid of Helena Russ. But camp outside the city, and how far?
I’ve lived here all my 40 years
What's going on Russ Loved seeing Helena Haven't seen it sense 96 lots have changed
WHAT KIND OF VIDEO EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE AND THE MOUNT THAT YOU HAVE FOR YOUR TRUCK GOOD STUFF TOO
Hey Russ i found your channel a few years ago from the canyon ferry video. Are you planning on doing another video at the lake? Take care.
That must be your buddy's place. Nice spread.
Russ, you gotta try the DQ grill and let us know how it is.
Which scenic tour is " not today"? Inquiring minds want to know.
Now i know why they call it the Big Sky state.
👋😊

You shouldmention thaat the Veteranshospitalis just at the edge of town off Williams st.
I don't see where to buy your coffe mug.
Except for the mountains, you could be in Long Island.
I don’t how Far East you are going but the Sturgis motorcycle rally is August 2-11 this year.

Was that the Dead Mall that was demolished? This member of the Ozzie Posse has noticed alot of new housing going up between the show grounds heading towards the military base. We've got family off Birdseye and have visited several times. Helena was where I learnt to drive in America (you drive on the other side of the road to us). Yes, we've been through the Capitol Building, museum and Old Governor's Mansion. I do love the Farmers market and the library, and having a snoop in at the Golden Girls (and Copper the guard cat) Trivia for you - Montana has 2/3 population of South Australia but South Australia is 3 times larger.
I live in Helena but it gets boring sometimes but otherwise it is great history
Beautiful. Does your friend want to rent a tiny house spot to a cute family who is helpful and respectful! Thank you for a great video- we are looking to move to Montana- near there somewhere we hope. Tiny house or RV or house will remain to be seen but definately wish to relocate- "Meet me underneath them big Montana Skies..."
You drove past my house lol
The area going by Walmart is not downtown downtown is down broadway to park avenue and around that area
And that funny looking church is simply called "The Cathedral" There's no special name for it!
It's too bad we dont have good enough jobs to sustain younger people ima have to move outta western mt and come back when I'm older.
Also we built over a river full of gold
I BEGING IN HAITI WITH US IN FASHION DONT GOES OUT IS MARKET WITH US ,JUST GOES CHURCH AND SCHOOL..THAT ALL...
