I'm just curious if you knew that Helen Keller had other teachers before the women that "taught" her. They were all fired by Helen's rich parents because they said she was un teachable. She lost sight and hearing at 19 months. Her cognitive functions would not be like ours. Her reality was not like ours. This is an inspirational story. But its all more than likely a lie a women told so a rich family would pay her money.

@@lynnbaker2336 should have said "cognitive thought" but, sadly no. Ask anyone in a field that deals with mentally developed delayed children. There's so much learning that goes on in children before the age of 3. You remove the top 2 ways that we process information and so many fundamental concepts are going to be missed. Look into feral children if your interested. Its somewhat on the same topic. Kids with all the senses but nobody to provide the stimulus. Not sure how all cases go but the few I've read about the kids never learn to speak even after being removed of whatever horrible situation they were in. Its interesting but depressing stuff.

@@lynnbaker2336 there are a few videos of her "talking" with her aid. The transcription is done a lot faster than whats done with modern sign language. Its like the person doing it knew what she was going to say before she said it.

A more real and humanistic speech I have never heard. Some people are eloquent. Some others are powerful. But not hold a candle to Helen Keller and what she endured to make this speech. This is a true victory of humanity.

I was introduced to helen keller by the movie called "the miracle worker ". At first I didn't believe that she's real character but when I discovered about her I was truly inspired by her. She is truly an inspiration. ❤

Both blind and deaf. There are people who are isolated through childhood with neither deafness nor blindness that can't figure out how to speak at a second grade level but here she is giving a speech yet alone knowing talking has sound to it and tounge movements involved. Crazy how smart she is!.......

However there is a video that exists of the real Helen Keller attempting speech (she unfortunately never sounded as clear as this despite her desperate wish)

I can just imagine Anne working with Helen going over the different tones, vibrations and words, signing "yes/no" for the correct sounds. amazing, heartbreaking, and inspiring

Reading "The story of my life " melted me .

It was learning about Helen that excited me to work with special needs children. When I was 16, my mom gave birth to a beautiful brother with Down's Syndrome. I became a teacher for these children with down's, cerebral palsy, autism and many other disability's. I am so thankful for the many things these kids have taught me, which include patience, love, caring, kindness and hope.

She’s such an inspiration. She didn’t let her limitations and obstacles define her and she proved to everyone that if you want something and you work hard for it you will eventually get it.

A wonderful reenactment by a very talented speaker. I am a professional actor and I deeply admire my fellow actor's work. Thank you for bringing alive the speech of one of my life's greatest teachers. Brava!

Keep in mind that Helen Keller's true speech was much, much messier than this. It wasn't illegible as people still understood her, but she often needed to repeat phrases and hired multiple speakers to talk for her throughout her life.

I’ve opened the subtitles while she was speaking. The subtitles were there, transcribing what she said. WHAT A HERO

Remarkable, moving, and so full of tender mercies. God bless you, Helen and you, Annie. I hope to meet you one day.

Her speech is so inspiring. If she could meet her goals. Then why shouldn't anyone else? Her strength makes me feel I have no excuse to ever feel sorry for myself. She is proof that if you have one person that truly believes in you. That anything can be accomplished. All I can say is Thank You for showing everyone. Especially young woman that even if some people say you will never. We can respond watch me. Thank you Helen Keller.

As a future teacher i can feel the emotions and joy of hallen's teacher , both student and teacher are inspiration for all of us . ❤️

@@nintendoROX121 Helen Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, died in 1836. Hellen Keller did not stop giving speeches or writing books until 1854.

Touching Speech! Miss Sulivan's love and work in Helen Keller life is miraculous! 💟 Praise God!

What a bright and amazingly strong Helen was! She was desperate to communicate with everyone. She was amazing and world need more teachers like she had.

***** If you know the story, they were at a water pump, and even thought Annie had tried it several times, she kept spelling water in Helen's hands, and it was a miracle she understood it because that was the start of her knowledge.

These two ladies are fierce as hell. Lots of hard work and commitment to conquer what everyone else thought were "limits" that no one could possibly get past.

Ms.Sullivans gave her a loving embrace and kiss on the cheek at the end of Helens speech moved me to tears.

I AM WATCHING THIS, SEPTEMPER 2020 ANYONE?

She is an inspiration. I believe God blinded her from the evil, immorality and harshness of this world.

Today I am finally watching the re enactment of her speech and I am about to give a speech on Helen Keller and her teacher mrs Anne sulivan in December so thank you and God bless us everyone I am too sight impaired and hearing im parodied and I too have a really good teacher Anna Harmen I'm not deaf but almost it's called hard of hearing and I am blind in the center of my right eye

How surprised that i could see Helen keller and her dedicated teacher who build a blind and deaf person like as to speak out....it shows that nothing is impossible.

This woman, Helen together with her teacher Sulivan, has been inspirational to the world at large.

I just offer so much respect for her bravery and effort to learn language with desire,passion and will-power. Truly Inspirational individual she is.Hats Off..
