Back in January, I purchased the h190. At the time, I had it paired with KEF LS50 Metas and a pair of REL subs. As the KEFs didn't have the sound I was looking for, I returned them in favor of B&W 805 D3s. While the h190 did a decent job with those, I decided to return it and move up to the h390. My findings are that the h390 is a big step up from the h190 (likely the biggest step up between models in the Hegel lineup). This is the system I have had for a number of months now...and I no longer think about "what if I had bought that other amp or set of speakers". I would be surprised if you didn't notice a big difference, with your 700 series B&Ws, on the h390 vs the h190.

I'm looking to buy a system and I like the NAD M33, but I'm not sure the sound is quite there. I'm looking to build around the B&W 803 D4 speakers. Hi Sir great video once more, i am using Wharfedale Lintons with an atoll in50se and pc sound card dac and i am a bit disappointed with the strength of the bass response. It's only 50 watts into 8ohms and i was wondering if an overkill 250 watts of the h390 would increase the bass strength and punch. The speakers are 6 to 4.6ish ohms and 90db efficiency but i saw in a review they measured at 85 db ( so wharfedale lies? No idea ). From reviews i went through the lintons are reported to have strong bass but dunno...Do you think i would just be wasting my money and i should go to tower speakers or grab subwoofers? ( though i must say i dont like subwoofers and i prefer bookshelves to semi towers like the lintons ). On another hand i would like the idea of having a good foundation of amp/dac and maybe upgrade the speakers later. What do you think? Can i make my speakers bass ballsier or would another amplifier suit that best? I was also looking at rotel michi integrateds or the primaluna evo 300/400 tube integrateds but fear the primalunas will lack the driving capabillity and maybe the ballsy bass. Thanks and sorry for the long read.

The Hegel 590 is really impressive. I had to chose between the Hegel or Gryphon Diablo 120. It was a close race but the Diablo 120 was just a little bit better but at a higher price

There's a reason Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani or the Wilson audio, simaudio, Octave Audio have zero videos like these ones. There's a reason bose hegel, sounbars vizios have these kinds of videos all over the internet. Is Hegel good yes but not in the same league as brands that have zero videos on KZread

Yes, of course the quality of an amp is all measured on the types of videos made on youtube. Good thing we have enlightened people like yourself helping us quantify what makes a good amplifier!

Hegel handles digital noise very poorly, but saves their skin and our ears with their “soundengine” noise cancellation method. I love how Hegel calms down a too sharp B&W, but that noisy digital stage is a dealbreaker to me.

Hegal is a brand that is overhyped, overpriced, and not a better design than a very good designed amplifier. They do not measure or sound better than a quality designed amplifier. The more inner parts count and long signal path and bigger size of the amplifier = worse distortion and sound quality full stop. Sorry but hegal is all overhyped crap. Don't believe reviews and reviewers. Use your ears, and learn what to listen for in music recordings. Have a Listen to some high quality active electronic crossover powered studio monitors like the class A/AB mosfet powerd two way and 3 way ATC SCM ASL studio monitors as a bench mark for sound quality sound, because there are many crap and overpriced hifi manufacturers and audio systems out there, and especially do not believe all the hype, the reviews, and reviewers.

Somebody may have already said this but, the damping factor is extremely high, NOT low. People should get the true specs.
