Heel & Toe Shifting Technique and Rev Matching Tutorial | YS Khong Driving
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here it is, folks - the mystery of heel & toe explained, and also a tutorial on how to easily master this technique. You can pause and rewind on any sections as necessary, and also enjoy the Renault Megane RS 280 Cup while you are at it.
Note: This video was recorded before the MCO. The cough I have is an ordinary cough from a sore throat, and I am better now, thank you.

stopped driving manual second day after getting license.. the instructor used to teach us to step on throttle by a little while releasing clutch.. now I know it's rev matching..
Uncle i watchted this video and it has actually improved my heel toe driving. - 2013 SC 86
Uncle does it smoother than a butter! Thanks uncle, looking forward to more video like this 🤗
When I was 16 my dad taught me how to drive manual. I remember the first time I tried heel toeing, if I wasn't wearing the seat belt I would've slammed my face into the wheel. Good memories😂

Well done, brilliant tutorial Mr Khong! Keep up the great work :))))
Thank you so much for this Uncle YS. Really wanted this video :) take care
Thank you and your wild kicks! The demonstration of practice drills helped a ton.
Great tutorial, Uncle Khong! Your videos are driving goals for enthusiasts 👏👌
This video makes me question why I don't have a manual car in my household 😂😂
Thanks uncle for the lessons can't wait for the video. For now better stay home and stay safe
Hands down the best and most simple tutorial on KZread 🔥
Such a useful video! I had been nervous to try this technique but now you have helped me to learn what to do, thank you!
Manual is fun when u don't encounter traffic jammed. Haha
Excellent video. Thanks. Added to favourites.
Awesome video Uncle Chong, hope I can drive like you :) Manual is the best and fun to drive
Free driving lesson from rally champ during MCO..syok!
Thanks YS. A professional definitely makes it looks easy, us amateurs will need LOTS of practice. Excellent advise about not resting left foot on clutch pedal and more importantly, the consequences of doing so. After all, most modern cars have a left foot rest anyway. Learnt a lot from this video and looking forward to your next lesson. Thumbs up!
You are the first professional driver I have seen on here teaching the right method. All of the others teach you to rev while your foot is still on the clutch after selecting the next gear. That will make for smoother shifts but does nothing to help select the next gear or protect the syncro's. Your way does both and makes for smoother shifts. Thank you. Now I just have to get my size 14 feet to cooperate and I'll be fine.
i like these kind of videos, teaching us driving rally champion styles and techniques
Hi YS, awesome guide and easy to understand, not forgetting the consistent advise on driving defensively! Many of your followers will be dying for MCO to be over in order to practice this! hehehe..salute!

Great! Welcome to our channel.
thank you sir..i have been using your tutorial to improve my manual skill
i didnt move straight to braking and blipping. I started with just blipping first, just to know how much (throttle) is enough and the timing to release the clutch. I practice it while on straights, ie. drop gear from 4 to 3 to overtake. Started with the basics, from same-slot/gate (4 to 3), then only cross gate from 3-2 (like in 3:27). Once I know the throttle and clutch timings, and executed it smoothly, then only added the braking element.

Excellent techniques. I've been driving manual transmission for 30+ years and now teaching my kid(s). I'll show my daughters this video. Again thanks for the technical explanation. Practice is definitely key. Was thinking of going to Auto trans in a Lexus until I found the IS350 avail in manual. Long live MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!! - Pank 05-Aug-21

Same thing. Clutch twice, and you blip the throttle when in neutral. That brings the gearbox up to speed also. Very useful for cars with busted synchros.
how can i miss this video. thank you for the useful lesson sir.

Beautiful practice and technique video.. thank U sir

Alhamdulillah terima kasih atas ilmunya 👍🏻
thanks uncle. great tutorial and you chose a car so worthy for it. been practising this for years with my uncle's wira. i drive a KE70 and the gas pedal is higher than brake pedal so I can do heel to toe thing. So usually I rev higher first before change gear or match the gear ratio to the speed so that the gearbox doesn't jerk. working so far.
@YSKhongDriving

Dis you know that you can bend the gas pedal a bit to lower the height of it is too high? Normally the gas pedal is below, and when brake is depressed near fully, the two are about the same level.
@robochitti

@@YSKhongDriving yes uncle i know. The gas pedal was made high to accomodate more space/length to depress it. 80s cars. I try to shorten it and see if its possible. Once again, thank you for this video.

I got another tip try putting your toe on the upper portion of the brake(recommended with your toe thumb) reason is LEVERAGE shorter distance from the pivot point of the brake pedal less force applied(less likely to accidentally brake too much ,more effort to brake

@@YSKhongDriving I am still learning on perfecting it. Even in normal driving from home to work etc. Or taking spirited drives and doing some canyon runs. Sometimes I miss the gas pedal to blip and it messes up my momentum .
Finally I know what the heel and toe is for!! I seen it 1st in initial D followed by a few racing documentaries but boy, this tutorial is simple and so well explained!! I should try it on my Axia!! Also wondering if the effects of this technique for front wheel, rear wheel and 4wd are the same...

Thanks. I made it simple and easy to learn. The idea of heel n toe is to save your gearbox and keep your car in balance, so ot does not matter if you are fwd, rwd or awd.
I asked uncle about it 2 nights ago and I'm glad you made a tutorial on it.. TQ uncle..

Practice in neutral gear, foot on brake. Use the ball of your foot on the brake pedal, run the engine so you can hear the blip clearly
