Hedgehogs *_don't_* sleep balled up like this! They sleep laying down like any other animal. They only roll into a ball defensively. This video *_isn't_* a hedgehog waking up, it's a hedgehog going from tense to relaxed. So not,"where's breakfast?"; more like "is it safe to come out?"

So cute, I remember this young hedgehog our family rescued, his little leg was broken & so he dragged it along the floor. We had him for a few days before passing him on to a retired vet with an animal sanctuary, who fixed him up and got him healthy again. I love hedgehogs to death man 😭

Yeah, hedgehogs can be cuddled. It'd probably be uncomfortable, but their quills aren't deadly. They can be painful if they're on defense, but it won't kill you. When not on defense, their quills would still be uncomfortable, bc it's nothing like fur. They're prickly and annoying. One of my neighbors has one.

And boy can hedgehogs run if they feel their sharp pointy 'fur' isn't going to protect them anymore. Got them in front of my bicycle a few times both on vacation and even here in my city. As soon as the light from my bicycle would hit them they would make a run for it... and so fast I would probably have a hard time keeping up with them if I would run along. Once found the hiding place of a wild hedgehog right next to the bungalow I was having my vacation. Kept an eye on it and found out there actually was a hedgehog living there. Waited with a camera and right around sunset, I suddenly heard leaves crackling and saw the hedgehog emerge from hiding. The funniest part was seeing him opening his mouth like he was yawning, scratching himself a few times, to than look around and turn around, to go straight back inside his shelter, to only emerge an hour later, just like he wanted to snooze a while before really waking up ;) . Eventually, in darkness, he or she nearly walked over the ground spreader of the tripod I was using. If you stay quiet and don't move they come incredibly close to you.

I like how their nose can sink into their face alittle, they're like a stuffed animal, so CUUUUUUUUUUUTE

Dont want to ruin anything for ya, but they usually stick their nose into their anal. It ensures that as little heat as possible gets out of body. They create circular site where heat gets preserved

When I was a kid, a young hedgehog had an injured leg, so I picked it up & he was in a ball. Until I scratched his sides, he unrolled & snuggled with me. We kept it & fed it for two days & it was able to walk normally again. Such precious animals. ❤

He is so well camouflaged and protected in his armored sleeping bag, and is surprisingly very cute!
