I've only ever had 1 Green Oval badged disaster experience in all my years messing with cars and it was with a 54 reg Freeloader TD4 HSE. My girlfriend had one when I met her, someone recommended them to her as a good car!! To try and impress her, I took the thing to work and said I'd give it a once over. Total turd as I expected, 1 working window, intermittent parking sensors, fuel tank was hanging on for dear life, offside rear quarter panel leaked water into the boot and after cleaning up some oil leaks the engine thought overrunning was a good idea. I bought her a V70 D5, flogged the turd on Marketface and never looked back. Just checked MOT history, it failed every one big time after we sold it and the new owner gave up last year. V70 is still going strong and has only had an advisory for an exhaust hanger since I bought it 4 years ago.

I'm liking the CDI Merc, but the Freeloader should be returned to the hedge - thank goodness you negotiated a minimal fee!

Ten years ago a friend bought a 50k mile facelift 1.8 Freelander for £500 in Kent and took it over to France (where they were twice the price) did all sorts of Countryside shenanigans(Carrying logs, Goats etc) in it for a good few years until it broke. Good value!

I wandered past with the dogs this morning and saw this and thought what a nice looking car.

Al, I bought a td4 Freelander for £350 3 years ago as a sort of project/needed to tow. I did throw some money at it mainly a decent valet clutch service window regs x 2, but it had done 170 thou, same age as yours cleaned up nice ran well parts are cheap such as the tank brackets calipers etc. I drove it a year and sold it to a colleague. He still has it now, and it's done 220 thou, just needing service tyres brakes. There's people out therethatlove them. Nice to see the prop on too. I think it would clean up nice

You can have a sh*t day at work.....but within 5 mins of watching this pair its all forgotten........👍

I was reminiscing on back in the 90's when I had my MK1 Transit hook converted out of a twin wheel LWB van which I converted into a crew cab and used a section of shipping container to make a rear panel and sliced off the rest of the van sides to about a foot above the wheel line to keep the light fittings, welded a ton of supports and hammered over the sharp edges. It had slidey doors both sides and a Yorkie diesel up for'ard nothing better than both doors slid back and smoking about south London fetching and hooking the auld fashioned way, often got hired at banger race meets and often over at Arena Essex slagging down the Wet Spam lot me being a Millwall lad hehe I remember one day spotted an old bill car on its side down an embankment so offered to right him up and pull him onto the A20, he was happy then bloody nicked me for no tax in the window grr grr I kicked myself for letting it go some months after I sold it, a contact offered me his son's abandoned E type for £50, I could not find anyone with a trailer as it was missing its wire wheels. Think the worst miss I had was an XJS for 50p... yes 50p, this was a bloke who shagged about, the XJS he put in his missus name and she found out about his extra knockings so she bonfired all his designer clothing, put his watch collection into the microwave, put his XJS in south London's News Shopper for 50p and lawyered him into oblivion, I did console myself when it was revealed why etc by picking up a pair of Mini 1275GT's for £80 that week but not quite in the same league as a pure white bodykitted labour of love Jag XJS :S

That's a Freelander 1 facelift. It is one of the better ones and has a BMW diesel engine. I would think twice about scrapping it.

I would have a careful look at the chassis , I heard rumours of a "recall" being pulled due to cost , it involved the new vehicles being collected and the paint replaced on the chassis , Hammerite ( Hunting ) were involved providing the refinish system , was late 90s probably all rotted away by now

Loved my ML first series , great truck.....loved my Freelander 1 too , the freelander isn't too bad if you buy a 2006 model in 2012 , then sell it again by 2014

22:51 - La crem de la merde... Had a very last of the Wanklander 1s, also HSE on an 06 plate before the council yoinked it away because it farted its gearbox all over the pavement and I reckoned walking was less traumatic.

just a quick one boss,weve just aquired a 57plate ford ranger 2'5 with a blown head gasket,,we're either going to put new head on ,had it tested and its dead,would you either pu new head on it or change engine,rest of its spot on good solid truck.was bought at right price.£600.

Top quality ML I've been looking at a newer ML 2010 onwards 3.0 V6, which has taken my fancy. Are they any good AL ? But that Horrid Landy is well...scrap lol
