The fear comes from confusing backsliding with apostasy. Backsliding is falling into previous habits, but you still believe. Apostasy, or falling away, is willful defiance and rejection. People who are fallen away don't talk like, "Oh no, can I still be saved?" or "I was saved and I screwed up". On the contrary, they say things like, "I wasted my time with that nonsense" and "I don't believe that garbage anymore".

@@greganderson2239 You know what is amazing? Even backsliders, in a sense, are guilty of the same. God has demonstrated to me that the only real difference between myself and apostates, is that I obtained mercy. I may not have spoken blasphemies the way they do, but in my heart, I was still guilty of the same because I was denying Jesus Christ and living for myself. So ultimately, what it really comes down to, is not that backsliders are any better...what separated Peter from Judas is that Jesus prayed for Peter, that his faith fail not....Peter received mercy. That's it. That's the difference. God will have mercy on whom He will.

For so many years I thought I was saved until my foolishness got a hold of me… Christ then saved me, and I was changed. Completely changed me, my wife told me and it was all the power and greatness of God. I take no credit. Now on my journey I realize how wicked I can be, and that I need Christ more to overcome the temptations of the world, flesh and Satan. It’s all for His glory.

@@tinacampbell3941 - I went through years of absolute, indescribable torment over this issue. I know from experience that you do not exaggerate even one bit when you use the word "torment" to describe what it can be like to wrestle with these fearful passages of scripture as a Christian. -- When I was in that season I was convinced it would never end and that I could not possibly find freedom from it. I didn't know how to deal with several verses, like the ones mentioned in this video. But, I am very much free now. I feel like I discovered the meaning behind passages like this, and it made me see how wrongly I had been understanding them before. I love John Piper, and I believe he has a lot of good teachings, but I very much disagree with his interpretation of these verses and I think he misunderstands them. Here is a short video I did giving an explanation of Hebrews 6. Hopefully you will find it helpful, and ask any questions if you need to! kzread.info/dash/bejne/epubxsOOgKfSY7Q.html

Good thing salvation is a free gift that doesn't depend on laying down your lives How To Go To Heaven It is very simple to be saved and takes only a minute to explain. Please let me show you how to get to Heaven from the Bible, God's Word... Man is a Sinner in the Eyes of a Holy God. Isaiah 53:6, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” There is a Price For Our Sin―Burning in Hell Forever. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”2nd Thessalonians 1:8, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”Revelation 20:15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Jesus paid that price by dying on the cross and shedding His blood; Christ was buried and bodily rose again the third day! Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”1st Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ...”1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” This is the Gospel. By faith in Jesus Christ ALONE we are immediately saved.Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”John 11:25, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”John 6:40, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”1st Corinthians 3:11, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Salvation is NOT found in a religion or good works, but in a Person... The LORD JESUS CHRIST! Simply BELIEVE the Gospel and You Are Saved!

For all those like me who where broken by this sermon. Your fear of God is good. Why are you sobbing? If it's because you fear God and want to go to heaven but your neck is so stiff you still refuse to humble yourself to God, repent of your sin and follow Christ? Or is it because you truly love God and the thought of being apart from Him just ruins you and the weight of all your rebellion makes you beg for forgiveness from the bottom of your being? If you still can repent do so and you WILL BE SAVED FOREVER!!!

@@auxya7577 It would be equally cruel to offer false assurance so I'm going to try to not do that, however there is objective ways of knowing if your saved or not. Along with Salvation comes a regenerate heart. Do you have a new heart? Do you desire to obey God and put aside our beloved sins. A regenerate (born again) person will still stumble but the overall course of there life and the desires of the heart are aimed at Christ and honoring and obeying Him. Also what's the motivation coming from, is it simply that you want to be saved to avoid hell or do you want to be saved because you desire to be with the Lord because you love Him? These are questions no one but you and God has the answers to, no brother or even pastor can tell you if your saved or not. However Though His Word God has given us many verses that helps shine a light on our Faith to show if it's real or not. Here's a book I highly recommend that helped my friend who had a similar issue. He thought He wasn't saved because He didn't have a dramatic Salvation story however He realized that He was partially thanks to this book. "Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart: How to Know for Sure You Are Saved" This book goes over the topic of assurance in great detail and you'll most likely have a clear answer one way or another if you engage with it with an honest heart. It's a good thing to question your salvation if your not saved but if you are man is that a stumbling block. It really puts a road block in your Sanctification and every time you stumble or struggle you doubt and it's beyond brutal. Not trying to give you any false ideas but in my personal opinion your agonizing over this smells a lot more like fruit of the spirit then the rot of flesh. Depending on the heart motivation it could be evidence of the Holy spirit working in you which is something that only happens to saved people. I'll be praying for you man, I'm telling you man get that book!

@@auxya7577 I went through years of dealing with absolute torment, feeling like God had shut me out of salvation because of my "willful sin." I now realize how much damage my misunderstanding of verses like this was causing me. To put it simply, I love John Piper, but his interpretation of this verse is very wrong I believe. -- What I see now is that my torment in that season was very much self-inflicted. I was obsessed with finding some sort of evidence inside of myself of genuine repentance, sorrow, conviction, etc. I was desperately searching within myself for the right spiritual "feelings" that I used to feel but no longer did. Since I couldn't find any of those spiritual feelings inside of myself, I took that as clear evidence that I was doomed and God had given up on me. He taught me over the next few years how much focus I had put on myself. My torment was caused by my obsessive focus on my own self, and my own ability to produce spiritual feelings and fruit. My eyes and attention were being placed on ME rather than on HIM. THIS is what was causing my torment... It had nothing to do with God actually abandoning me. I believe that in that season I was doing a sort of self-condemning duo with the Devil, being hyper-sensitive to my own lack of "spiritual feelings" and connecting that to different periods of "willful sin" that I had been engaging in. I was convinced I couldn't find freedom, but I have. It mostly came from learning to listen to the quiet and gentle voice of God by his spirit. Learning to hear what HE was saying and to abandon MY own thoughts and feelings as being the determining factor of how I thought God felt about me. -- I believe taught me how to correctly view the different scriptures, like Hebrews 6, which were causing me so much turmoil and torment. I made a video here that explains my views of Hebrews 6 and why I believe it does not seal anyone out from hope who is desiring salvation. kzread.info/dash/bejne/epubxsOOgKfSY7Q.html I hope you will watch and I hope you will find it helpful. This is a subject that I feel very passionate about and very much want to help encourage other Christians who are experiencing the horrors of fearing hell and the unpardonable sin. I think a lot of Christians deal with this and they mostly feel isolated, alone and unable to find others who can truly understand the depths of the pain that their fears are causing them. If you have any questions after watching the video about this or other scriptures, please let me know! - Jordan

IF YOU ARE FELING DESPEARTE, HOPELESS OR DISCOURAGE AFTER LISTENING TO THIS, PLEASE READ: I like many teachings from John Piper and I agree on many things he says. However, when it comes to his conclusions with many of the statements in Hebrews I cannot agree with him. He also teaches about Hebrews 12 in regards to the example the author gives with Esau, selling his birthright, which I think relates very much to what is said in Hebrews 6:4 -8. Piper says that the author meant that Esau wanted to repent but he couldn't because he was hardened and although he tried to repent he couldn't. When I heard this from Piper I just fell into so much hopelessness, because I was struggling with sin and seemed like I couldn't win, so I just made the conclusion that I was just a lost case. But what was confusing to me is that Piper also teaches that it is God who grants repentance, so I just thought "God just don't want to restore me, He is not interested in me Being restored". But guess what? Today I enjoy a joyful life that comes from a close relationship with God, my heavenly father and are being restored. Do I struggle with sin, yes. However I understood that the struggle does not mean lack of repentance, but the lord want me to learn to fight! resist! But relying only on the power of his grace! Later on I meditate on that example of Esau in hebrews. I went and read the true story and I could see that in fact Esau repented! He repented of the fact that he gave no importance about the blessing from his father and is right as a firstborn son. He repented because he truly wanted the bless from his father, but that bless was already taken by Jacob. So how do we fit that example today for us, to avoid making the same mistake? We have the entire life the chance to repent, to let the word of God produce that fear that comes from these passages for that is their intent, to awake us and drive us to make a decision. But there will be a time when repentance won't be possible, when our life ends, cuz after that comes the judgment, and this is what I understand from the example of Esau, of someone that prefers his sin and the life they want more than God. Friend if you read these passages and you have this fear, act upon that but with courage and hope! Knowing that it is the spirit that is producing this fear on you to get you out of this place far from God and run to him! We now he will receive you with mercy! And don't think that your struggle with sin means you have not repented. Demonstrate you have repented by striving to fight that sin! First Relying on God by looking for him every day! Search for his presence spend time with him knowing how much you need him. If you fall in your sin again, Get up!!! and keep on fighting!! You need to understand that if you decide to make war against sin God is on your side! He is not arms-crossed looking at you waiting to see if you would be able to handle it. He knows we are weak he knows we are incapable, he is just waiting for us to realize that and run to him for grace. Be encourage my friend!! I would be really concern if someone reads the warnings in the bible without being moved in anyway, but if you felt uncomfortable, frighten and something moves in you that is your faith! you know what you're reading is real, you believe. God is trying to save you to free you through the truth of this word. Though they are really hard to read and hits you like a train, know that it is there because God loves you and want to awake you to run back to him, not just to let you know you're a lost case. Believe me my state was horrible! Claiming to be a Christian but involved in drugs, prostitutes, addictions, and many more things. I suffered the consequences but God still showed me mercy and restore me, he has glorify himself through my life, and he is willing to do the same with yours. If you want to repent, and we understand that true repentance is from God, we know for sure that the very desire to repent comes from God, so he is working in you by the very fear the warning produces in you. To say that some want to repent but can't is contradictory in this sense. the text says it is impossible to bring them back, not impossible for them to repent, so it is people that just don't want to repent, that have not intention to amend their ways, people that made the decision to take Jesus as a liar, as those who crucify him that the text is talking about. if you want to repent, if you want to come back to God, that is a wonderful work of the Spirit, in that I agree with Piper. But to say that repentance is from God but then say that some will have that desire to repent (from God) but can't is not what is shown here. As I state previously, Esau truly repented the fact that he rejected the birthright blessing from his father, but it could not be given to him cuz it had been given to Jacob already, so even if he wanted it, it had been taken already. If we expect to receive the amazing blessing that we are offered through Jesus after we lived a life of rejection towards Jesus, when we realized the opportunity has been lost at the day of judgment, we will repent, truly repent with tears, but the opportunity shall be ended. So if you are still alive, if you still reading these warnings and feal that fear, just as hebrews 3:15 says: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts. Today is the day you can comeback to God knowing that he is calling you to do so, if you accept know that you will be able to repent for it is He working in you that repentance.

Every child of God and follower of Jesus is a backsliding sinner, including John Piper. We couldn’t be righteous on our own for any amount of time. My wife was raised a pastor’s daughter and as perfect a woman as they come, but her naivety is no less than my blatant choice to sin. I battle choices all the time, always have. I struggled through being abused, abusing drugs and alcohol, pornography and sexual addictions, etc. I have returned to my own vomit time after time, struggling and praying for God to help me. While I do believe their is apostasy. My firm conviction is apostasy is accomplished when the battle is surrendered and we love the sin. I hate the things I do, say, feel, but I am not the same as I was. I am more righteous, more forgiven, more fruitful, more concerned, more cautious, more eager, more focused and more driven to God. But I am desperate, weak, and unworthy. I don’t want to change out of fear for my own life, but out of love for His. I am getting there, by the grace of God and His never ending mercies. AMEN!

@@qguhnics Yes, but it’s not as simple as making a statement. It’s a lot to unpack. Let’s start here; if you are struggling, you are still in the fight. Trust the Holy Spirit in you to lead you through sanctification. Let me stop here for a second: there are three segments of a child of God’s life that I want to define; justification, sanctification, & glorification. Justification is what happens when you accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Freedom from the penalty of Sin. You in the Past. This establishes our “position”. This is sealed! Only the King can open the seal at the day of redemption. No one can open a seal without authority to do so. Hold to this truth by faith, that regardless of all things, the King has all authority. Sanctification is the life we live here on earth, in the flesh, while the Spirit (new birth) is maturing. The spirit changes us inwardly. Freedom from the power of Sin. You in the Present. This establishes our “progression”. Your ups and downs. Flesh vs Spirit. Disagreement within yourself. Hating sin, but still sinning. Growing from a new creature (baby Christian) into the maturity of being righteous as He is righteous. Apostasy is in this segment. Glorification is in the the presence of God. All things completed. Freedom from the presence of Sin. Old things are passed away and the new has come. You in the Future. Glorified body. This establishes the “ultimate goal”. Now let’s look back at sanctification and our present life. This is where apostasy happens. We are two people if we are born again. The old man is flesh and the new man is spirit. The spirit and flesh do not agree. The Holy Spirit is changing us with this new nature, but we have to participate, not grieve the spirit, battle the flesh, stay in prayer, renew our mind by the Word of God, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us into ALL truth for our sanctity. This means we need to agree, but the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak. Without the spirit we cannot please God. Our apostasy occurs when we grieve the spirit, give up growing in the spirit, increase in flesh full lust, love worldliness and self over obedience and discipline (discipleship). We become apostate because we are not overcoming the flesh. We can only love one and hate the other. If we love our Sin, we are reprobate. 1 Corinthians 5:5 NASB1995 5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:20 NASB1995 20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme. I feel I am this person. A couple of months ago Jesus revealed to me he was real by healing me from a sickness I had for months and setting me free from suicidal thoughts addiction etc and I truly believed in him. The word of God was alive to me I felt I truly did have the Holy Spirit and that I truly believed and wanted to serve God but then sin crept in my life and my heart started to feel hardened now when I try to repent I can’t break free my heart feels hardened and hopeless.. I’ve become so desensitized and numb and I feel spiritually and emotionally dead. I don’t know what to do anymore I have a desire to be free but no ability to carry it out. My prayers aren’t getting answered anymore. I’m living in complete darkness and feel that the door to the kingdom is shut on me and that I’m just living to live at this point. I don’t know what to do I pushed away the conviction for a long time and now I’m empty. I feel that the Holy Spirit has left me. This all happened within 6 months.. I’m no longer bearing fruit I no longer feel connected to God or that he still wants me.. it makes me feel hopeless that no matter what I do nothings changing my heart. I know to some this might seem pathetic but I feel I really blew it and I’m very ashamed that I took something that was so beautiful and precious and lost it.. I’ll never find peace again apart from God and I’ll never live with happiness again. I’m losing my desire to seek God because part of me feels like I’m already gone.

"If you believe and continue to believe, you will be saved." If we are honest, we all know that we can block God out of our minds and give in to temptations, even cultivate it and entertain it (although the evidence is clear that we are born again), then afterwards feel horrible and disgusted and beg for forgiveness. This pattern can happen to born again Christians over and over again. If we are honest we would admit this to be true. Now, what I get from Hebrews 6 is a warning that if I/we don't cooperate with the Holy Spirit and put my flesh to death, I could end up in a very bad place. I went through years of dealing with absolute torment, feeling like God had shut me out of salvation because of my "willful sin." I now realize how much damage my misunderstanding of verses like this was causing me. - Jordan

To understand Hebrews 6:4-6 and surrounding context we need to expound the text properly and not read into it Calvinistic presuppositions. Certainly there is an Election of Grace (and not of man). But Scripture equally affirms that God works by means, namely His Word in the dual forms of Law and Gospel. And by these he works Contrition and Faith. It’s important to realise that the writer to the Hebrews draws HEAVILY from the Septuagint (The LXX) in His quotes and in his vocabulary. Moreover, this author also refers to Old Testament examples on occasion without explicit quotation, as he does in Hebrews 6:6. Two key Greek words govern exposition of Hebrews 6:4-6. The words “anakainizein” and “parapipto”. The second term, parapipto in particular is simply not a New Testament Word. But it occurs in the Book of Ezekiel repeatedly in the LXX. And Ezekiel 18:24 is the quintessential use of this word. The writer to the Hebrews most certainly is alluding to the theme of Ezekiel 18:24. Ezekiel 18:24 deals with the case of truly converted Christians who fall away AND ARE NO LONGER CHRISTIANS as a result. This is taught all through Scripture. But the “impossibility” is also relative. We see this in the use of the word “anakainizein”. Two derivatives of this are found in the LXX in two critical repentance passages. Psalm 51:10 and Lamentations 5:20. In the first case , David was renewed again after falling away and remaining in sin 9 months. In the second case Jeremiah prays for the people to be renewed in verse 20 and then laments That God had rejected the people. Jeremiah dealt with the judgment of the captivity of course, of which Zechariah 7 and 2 Chronicles 36 reports: - They made their hearts as hard as an Adamant Stone last they should repent and be converted - God sent his messengers the prophets and they mocked them and despised God’s Word TILL THERE WAS NO REMEDY. So we can see that it was “Impossible to renew them again to repentance”. And this impossibility was relative and not absolute. In fact a very small number of these very people who were “beyond remedy” actually were reconverted later. God answered Jeremiah’s prayer of Lam. 5:20. For we read in Ezekiel 33 the people despairing of salvation, and they quote Leviticus. “If we pine away in our sins, how shall we live ?” (“Live” as in eternal life versus “die” as in eternal death). Here life and death in the sight of God are dealt with. But precisely because the Law Of God had finally entered their hearts and worked Contrition, for this reason the Gospel was applied to them “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11 And it is precisely this oath to which Paul appeals in 2 Timothy 2:13 where he reminds that even if we fall into complete unbelief, God can not deny himself (his oath) wherein he has promised to receive all contrite sinners. Moreover, the Greek grammar is clear in Hebrews 6:4-6. The past enlightenment and partaking of the Holy Spirit is Real and past tense (from the aorist indicatives used ). These were real Christians. But their falling away is also in past tense. It’s incorrect to translate “if they shall fall away”. It reads “And they have fallen away”. But the “renew again” and the “crucifying to themselves” is present (ongoing in Greek grammar) tense. They are impossible to reconvert because they refuse Gods Word. Their hearts are like an adamant stone. But the impossibility is relative. Certainly with God all things are possible. James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall SAVE A SOUL FROM DEATH, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” The passage is intended as a warning to admonish us. We ought to take heed

Piper certainly has not expounded this passage rightly. He has mixed an amalgam of Zwinglian reasoning with Scripture to create a private interpretation. Certainly the emphasis on guarding the Christian life is right. This aspect is often lacking in most attempts to expound this passage. But Piper’s handling of the passage is woeful and heavily biased by his Calvinism, rather than by a Biblical exposition of the text consistent with the Analogy Of Faith (Romans 12:6).

I struggled with HEB 6:4-8 for years... If we love anything more than Christ, we need to see if we are truly in the faith, or was our "Salvation prayer " just an emotional moment where we didn't understand the full committment of turning from everything of the world to follow after Christ. I was deceived in the Church for over 50 years thinking I was a believer, when I absolutely was not. All of the Pastors I was taught by only tickled our ears. I used to think that satan was the one trying to get me to doubt my salvation, but why would he ever want to make us seek harder after Christ? It's the Holy Spirit that was trying to get me onto the very NARROW PATH where true life is found. It should have been obvious that I was not saved, by the fact that I was having to say the Sinner's Prayer every single week. God was never impressed with any of my many many Religious Acts. Matt 7:22... Lord, Lord, didn't I put all my faith in Jesus Christ who died for my sins, I said The Sinner's Prayer, I got Baptized, I went to Church 1-2-3 times a week, I Fasted, I Read my Bible Devotional, I tried to Obey it, I Prayed, I Care for the Widows, the Homeless, and those in Prison, I Tithed, I Fought for the Unborn, I did an overseas Mission trip, I Observed the Sabbath, I Disciplined New Believers, I Evangelized on the street, I even toured Israel, etc, etc. Yes, I should have be doing all of those great things, but not because I Had To out of a Religious Obligation, or trying to impress people in the church with how holy I was being, when in fact in private I was quite the Opposite! I LIED to everyone and myself; but nobody wants to believe REV 21:8 All LIARS will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” In Mark 4 Jesus talks about how 3 of the 4 Soils were not saved, but thought that they were. I needed to Examine myself to see if I was truly in the faith, because God will even judge my Thoughts as well as my actions, motives, etc. My Religious works meant nothing, because I never had an intimate Relationship with Christ...not even a casual one. I never died to my flesh. I Wanted to serve Jesus through a Fully Surrendered heart, but that was impossible as long as I was being a Total HYPOCRITE, Willfully Sinning every single day for most of my life..in both subtle and blatant ways. I almost committed suicide 4 years ago, because I had been tormented by Demonic voices from age of 6-50. I had multiple personalities after being kidnapped for sex trafficking as a runaway teenager. God shows no favoritism, it was never okay for me to sin even once simply because SO MANY people sinned against me. I found out that IT ONLY TAKES " 1 " DAY TO LISTEN TO THE N.T. BIBLE. The Truth set me Free when I came across a Single verse that Scared the HELL right out of me, and I suddenly knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that I was going straight to Hell. My victim mentality finally died on Aug 10, 2017. 1ST JOHN 3:9-10 says: 9. NO one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them, they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10. This is how we KNOW who the children of God are and who the children of the Devil are!!! Why is this verses and hundreds of others never taught in the church?? This was just 1 of the Many verses where God Warns us stop to sinning (I have a list of 182 NT verses). I suddenly realized that if I don't want to live soley for Jesus Christ Now, why would God ever let me live with Jesus Forever? I finally surrendered my entire heart, mind, soul and strength to the Lord. Now I can't think of a single sin that's worth going to Hell for. Every temptation is finally gone, because I know that in order for me to be found as a Wise Virgin without spot or wrinkle when Jesus comes for His Bride very SOON!💘 I removed every temptation in my life, and through total obedience Jesus 100% Free from ALL: anger, depressions, drinking, drugs, fear, greed, insecurity, porn, rebellion, rejection, sex, suicide, unforgiveness, worldly entertainment, worry, yoga, etc. God, who is The Great Physician has physically healed me within a matter of 1-2 days after gut wrenching prayer..Refusing to let go of the edge of His garment until I was healed (Matt 9:21-22). Once I threw out all of my medications and had refuse to ever return to the doctors, He instantly cured me of: breast cancer, osteoporosis, acid reflux, plantars fasciitis, STDs, acne, multiple personality disorders, severe-severe rheumatoid arthritis, and many others. I knew I had to quit my job 4 years ago, cut off 95% of my relationships, etc, so that I can just read my Bible all day, pray and evangelize to the Lukewarm Church. 2 Peter 2:20-21 is what's keeps me focused: 20. If they have escaped the corruption of the World by Knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again Entangled in it and overcome, they are WORSE off at the end then they were at the beginning. 21. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and the to TURN their back on the sacred command that was passed on to them. When we slip up in thought or deed, instantly repent; 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from All unrighteousness. James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall SAVE A SOUL FROM DEATH, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”

It was almost always accompanied by some form of sin (IE lust or pride). If I were you I’d pray an in depth prayer to God to reveal what it is you need to do. Repentance = greek word for metanoia which means to change your mind, in the context of true salvific biblical repentance what it is saying is change your MIND from UNBELIEF in Christ alone as your savior (aka trusting in yourself, trusting in your law keeping, trusting in your "turning from sins") and BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christs finished redemptive work on the cross for remission of your sins. The gospel is the same today as it was 2000 years ago and it will never change, we are justified by GRACE alone through FAITH alone in CHRIST alone.

Hi Ihave a question. It's sorta a story. I am a Christian. I love God. With everything I really do. I am 18 and was raised in a Christian household. I have had a pretty messed up life. I grew up spoiled. I grew up a liar. I grew up teaching myself how to lie and getting away with what I want. I once faked my death. No joke. People mourned over me. I felt sorry, and I told them the truth. Anyways that was a few years ago. It's been a bit and I found God since then. I got baptized. It was great. I was happy. I felt the holy spirit with me. It was like chills. But then I... Messed around with myself in a particularly inappropriate way if you know what I mean. This is something I promised God I wouldn't do mind you. I felt sorry. I told God so and that I repented. Then I did it again. Not even a week later I don't think. I didn't feel sorry as much as I was tired. And now I don't feel the holy spirit at all. I mean sometimes I think I do but its light, not like full on chills like I used to, and it's winter so it might be cold but I don't think so, maybe I am just wishful thinking but I gotta hold onto hope. And I feel a light feeling in my forehead when I pray sometimes. But I am mostly just sad and sorry and depressed. I feel weak. I keep trying to hold onto faith. It seems hopeless. I not only sinned after receiving the holy spirit, I did it twice. And it was a promise to God. So I lied to God and sinned twice after my one and only baptism. and now I am feeling hopeless. Like I'm guaranteed a spot in hell. And I've been reading hebrews. Hebrews 10:26 -27 and Hebrews 6:4 is what I am feeling like is happening to me. Is it? I will follow God no matter what. I am still just tired and sad and weak. I feel I am without hope. Does this mean I'm beyond redemption? I've screwed up my whole life I was hoping God would fix me. But if this is what God wants I cannot stop it. Please be honest, I need to know. I am so hopeless. I've always been happy. This feels like I'm just empty

Every possible sin is inappropriate in God’s eyes. Unforgivable sin is only blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, according to Scripture. So ... confess your sins to the Lord and sin no more. I don't know you, nor will I probably ever meet you in this life ... but I feel love for you, and compassion and hope. Nothing is lost as your heart is turning to Jesus daily. The same One who once called us, will also perfect us on our imperfect path.

Amber Preston First of all John Piper is not a very good teacher. As for you, I completely understand why you go through what you do. First thing I suggest is you read what God's word says about salvation, and the Holy Spirit. The bible is very clear once you are saved, sealed by the Spirit you cannot lose it or be unborn again. Read in John 6 that Jesus says those the Father gives Him NONE will He lose. Your feeling condemnation and fear because you are not CERTAIN about what Jesus has already done for you. The sin nature is IN the FLESH. Our flesh does not change after we are made new. But we have a new heart with new desires to seek God, to please Him etc. Satan knows you very well, and knows how to cause fear , worry and condemnation. The moment you became born again, ALL your sins, past present and future were cleansed from you BY the blood of Christ.. Until you fully understand the complete work of the cross you arent ready to understand Hebrews because it will confuse you. I suggest reading these books and verses in the bible PRAYERFULLY. And remember , we walk and live by faith. not but how we FEEL. In Jesus' name I love you and He loves you and wants you to ENJOY your relationship with Him, and find rest IN Him. Seek God, read Jeremiah 33:3 and ask for wisdom and understand to grow and mature.. Please read these below John 3, all of it.. Notice 4 times Jesus says believers have eternal life and never perish John 6, John 10. 1 Peter 1 and read also 1 John 3:8-9

Thank you for your heartfelt description. It’s actually a very common experience that many people to pass through. But you need to listen carefully now: I would like to draw your attention to something VERY CRITICAL. In your description the DOMINANT theme that recurs in your words is “FEELING” I counted around 10 times and “Various Perceptions” at least 10 times. The Bible nowhere says that we live by “feelings” or by any natural “perceptions”. IT SAYS THE VERY OPPOSITE: “We walk by FAITH not by SIGHT “ 2 Corinthians 5:7, and ... “By FAITH you STAND” 2 Corinthians 1:24. The reason you struggle now is because your faith is not grounded in Christ. I am not saying you never knew Him, although that is possible. I am saying that The Word of God is the SWORD of The SPIRIT. Christ takes his Sword in hand and defeats our enemies for us (Joshua 5:13, 14). And he deals with us by: LAW and GOSPEL ... (His WORD) By Law he certainly reveals our lost sinful condition. He reveals our weakness, our failings. Our utter ruin and wretchedness ... and yes, we FEEL that sorely! But the LAW has no power to save. It shows us our duty, yes. But it only condemns and stands accusing us. Remember when Cain killed his brother? The blood of Abel cried for vengeance. That was because THE LAW states that no murderer has eternal life and that death is the wages of sin. But now an altogether different doctrine of the Bible enters in ... THE GOSPEL. The Gospel speaks to us softly and calmly and quietly of Jesus. It tells of his suffering to satisfy the WRATH of GOD that we well deserved. The Gospel tells of the blood of Jesus “that speaks better things than the blood of Abel” (Hebrews 12:24) . Abel’s blood cried for justice but Jesus blood cries for forgiveness before a Holy God! ... Not because we deserve it, but because He satisfies God’s wrath completely. And when we let go of “feelings” which come and go, and when we lay hold of Jesus, as Crucified for us, our FAITH stands firm. And yes, we experience moments of great feeling and joy and periods of dryness also. But we learn NOT to pay any heed to transient emotions. As for past sins you described. Our sin nature is VERY REAL and VERY DANGEROUS. It perplexes the soul of every true Christian how we can fall so terribly , yet we know it by experience and we know it from the words of the Apostle in Romans 7. And also from Hebrews 12:1. We know it from Psalm 119:1-5 also and we know it from Micah 7:1 and from Hosea 14:1 and Lamentations chapter 3. Jesus uses the Greek present tense in his opening words of the sermon on the mount in Matthew chapter 5 “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:3-4) The Greek present tense is the tense of ongoing action in Greek. It is not ‘ “blessed are those that have mourned [over their sins].” It is “Blessed are those who DO MOURN” and “Blessed ARE those who are BEING Poor in Spirit (Contrite - Isaiah 66:2, Psalm 34). So we see that the Christian life is not without struggle. Sometimes the struggle is mind boggling. And we must learn to remove temptations (Matt. 5:29, 30) by “plucking them out and removing them”. We are never masters over this, but if we know our sin in true Contrition let us make every effort to live one day at a time for Jesus. Jesus teaches us to pray for all that we need in the Lord’s prayer. “Give us THIS DAY our daily bread AND FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES....”

If you feel conviction and a desire to come back to Christ you are being drawn by the father, apostasy is a permanent position but when the prodigal son asked for his entire inheritance and left he was still a son and the father was waiting for his return and welcomed him back with a robe sandals and a ring and they feasted in celebration of his son's return! If you desire to come back to Christ that desire is from God not yourself. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. John 6:37 If you want to return to Christ you are indeed being drawn by the Father and the Father would never draw someone who couldn't be saved. Return to Christ brother, your father is waiting to greet you will sandals for your feet a robe for your back a ring for your hand and a celebration. Peace be with you God bless.

I’m glad to help. I have seen and know from personal experience what happens when a Christian has denied his or her Saviour, Jesus. It’s a very great and serious thing. But let us know that not everyone ends up the same way. We should always remember that David denied Christ by his works (Titus 1:16). He committed great sins. His soul was weighed heavily by them. And so did Peter also. He denied his Saviour with an oath and with cursing (Matthew 26: 34, 75). But JESUS PRAYED for them both and they were both converted again. We know of course that Jesus prayed for Peter , because he said so (Luke 22:31, 32). But we also realise that The Son Of God prayed for David, otherwise he had remained in his sin and the prophet Nathan had not been sent to bring him to Contrition again and renewal of Faith through the Law and Gospel (rightly divided) preached to him. Consider this, before Nathan preached, David remained in sin and unbelief. But after the Word of God, David was a changed man. Please consider that God sends you help also, even though it be through the least of Christians. Whenever you are sent the pure Word of the Gospel. Whenever you are sent the pure Word of God, receive it as from Jesus. This is a great blessing for every one of us. Recall why the rich man in hell could not be converted , nor his brothers ? “They have Moses (Law) and the Prophets (Gospel), let them hear them. IF THEY HEAR NOT MOSES and THE PROPHETS, neither will they hear if one should rise from the dead” So God deals with us by Law and Gospel. Not feelings. Not by efforts. Purely according to His Word. If a man refuses the Word he cannot be brought to repentance, (unless God elects to intervene. We have examples like Jonah and Manasseh and David. But it is dangerous to put God to the test). Christ’s Word is efficacious. It has real power! The power is in His Word to convert us, especially in the Gospel (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 1:18) For this reason Hebrews writes for Christians who fall, of Christ as our great high priest: “Wherefore HE IS ABLE also to SAVE them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Heb. 7:25

If it's true that God draws a line, then that makes Him cruel, sadistic and abusive. This mess has truly ruined my life. This has happened to me. I resent the use of the word "really" in terms of salvation.I was truly born again . He either "really" saved me ( to the uttermost those that come to him) or He "really" doesn't. Which makes salvation cheaper than a two dollar bill and a traumatic abusive mess if my life . He either keeps us from falling or his word is a contradictory lie and cant be trusted. Its always, always our fault. He either keeps us from falling or he doesn't. All of this small print and play on words is psychological terrorism. Either we're sealed until the day of redemption once we receive Christ or again it's a traumatic contradiction. Either he'll complete the work he began or these are all lies. Either he won't "lose any that the father gave, or its a lie. Im sick of the trope that its always our fault. Which is it? True, false, or contradictory? Or a complete and total mindf$#@! that I'll never recover from. He should have left me alone from the beginning..

Please consider the story of Elijah from 1 Kings 19 "But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.” And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Arise and eat.” And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And he ate and drank and lay down again. And the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.” And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God. There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.” And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.” And the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria... Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.” 1 Kings 19:4‭-‬15‭, ‬18 ESV bible.com/bible/59/1ki.19.4-18.ESV

Salvation is a free gift. Repentance only means change of mind (metanoia in greek) you change your mind for unbelif to belif. Trusting Jesus to save you, instead of trusting yourself. That's it. That's all there is to salvation. Read the scriptures How To Go To Heaven It is very simple to be saved and takes only a minute to explain. Please let me show you how to get to Heaven from the Bible, God's Word... Man is a Sinner in the Eyes of a Holy God. Isaiah 53:6 , “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”Romans 3:19 , “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”John 3:3 , “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Romans 3:10 , “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”Romans 3:23 , “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” There is a Price For Our Sin―Burning in Hell Forever. Romans 6:23 , “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 5:12 , “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”2nd Thessalonians 1:8 , “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”Revelation 20:15 , "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”Revelation 21:8 , “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Jesus paid that price by dying on the cross and shedding His blood; Christ was buried and bodily rose again the third day! Romans 5:8 , “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”John 3:16 , “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”1st Timothy 1:15 , “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”1st Peter 1:18 -19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ...”1st Corinthians 15:1 -4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” This is the Gospel. By faith in Jesus Christ ALONE we are immediately saved.Galatians 3:26 , “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”John 11:25 , “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”John 6:28 -29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”Ephesians 2:8 -9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”John 14:6 , “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”John 6:40 , “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”Mark 1:15 , “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”Acts 26:18 , “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”Romans 10:13 , “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”1st Corinthians 3:11 , "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”Galatians 3:26 , “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Salvation is NOT found in a religion or good works, but in a Person... The LORD JESUS CHRIST! Simply BELIEVE the Gospel and You Are Saved!

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and believe he died on the cross for our sins by shedding his blood, then was resurrected from the dead, we are accepting full payment for our sinful nature. Good works follow salvation, in an attempt to live holy lives. Nothing we do can apply to our salvation only the finished work Jesus did for us. Having become sensitive to sin we can now strive to stop sinning and live a life based on Jesus' teachings. Jesus died for us so we can live for him. Repentance is not a work, it is necessary to stop sinning, to change our minds and realize that what we are doing is not edifying others. When we stumble or backslide we have the cross to go back to, ask God for forgiveness in the name of Jesus, and he will cleanse us from all unrighteousness, God's mercy is more abound than our sin. Good works are to honor Christ, not to make us "good enough" nobody is good enough, that's why Jesus had to die, somebody had to pay the price for the world's sin, so God himself came to earth and paid it with his life. We may have assurance of salvation by staying in the faith, repenting from known sin, and striving not to sin in the future. Good works are something to do out of love to help others, entertain the poor, share the gospel, or whatever lifts others up, not to be saved, Jesus paid for that.

This scripture was written to "babes" in Christ. I dont know why people argue about this. Its spelled out plainly in Ch. 5:11 -14, and again in 6:9 -12. The warning is to press on to maturity and not to continue as babes. Why? Because the lack of maturity puts them in danger of falling away. Only Christians fall away. This passage is only difficult to understand when Calvinism muddies the water.

James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall SAVE A SOUL FROM DEATH, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”

Hi Laura, John Piper did not go into the fullness of the passage, but a big portion is right at the beginning. Heb. 6:1-3 Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits. Isn't it odd that we would want to leave the doctrine of Christ? These verses reveal this about the audience. doctrine of Christ ( Doctrine of the *coming* Messiah) Foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God( Works to satisfy GOD rather than THE work of Christ) washings, the laying on of hands (Ceremonial Washings and sacrificing animals for their sins) the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment (Prophesy and what is to come) **These people lived in the Old Covenant (Old Testament) rather than maturing to know that the New Covenant, that they have been reading about in the Old Testament, has now come. IT IS FINISHED. So even though they know what God has done by sacrificing His Son, they choose to live in a way that is sacrificing Christ over and over, not understanding that it was done once and for all. Do not be tied to the old covenant, but be renewed through the everlasting Blood of the Lamb. John 10:28-30 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. Repentance means to *Turn* from your sin. This can only be done through the power of Christ. Confess your sins to Him, turn from your sins, and live out this newfound life in Him with the understanding that NO ONE can snatch you from the Father's Hand, not even you.

@@laurakitteridge2150 After reading your response I have some serious questions for you. 1. What is Salvation dependent on? 2. Can Salvation be snatched? 3. Is Salvation Temporary? I ask these questions because I found myself questioning God's forgiveness. But I realized that the deceiver is crafty, he will use what started out as a good intention to keep us from our Lord. Year after year I said/thought statements like this. "I keep turning to my sin, there is no way He will forgive me this time" "Truly, I have shown my allegiance to my flesh, since I know its wrong yet I keep thirsting for my sin." God, who is Merciful and so mighty was revealing to me something so important. Something grievous that I had been partaking in year after year. 1. My center, my focus, was me. 2. By saying and believing things like "He cannot forgive me." I was actually blaspheming His name every time. I was putting my trust in falsehood and esteeming a lie to my Lord. Summary: I was actively breaking the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th commandment. It was not a sin in my past that was filling me with so much grief, but that I was actively saying. "Not what you say Lord, but my will be done" The remedy? Speak His truth, there is nothing special about us, but what God has done in us. Our dependence, should be on Him and Him alone. Not in our perfection, not in our good deeds, not in our bad deeds, (*NOT IN ME*) because our eyes should be on HIS DEED. Recognize this grievance and ask Him to forgive you for even this. Ask Him to give you the desire to rejoice in this Truth, no matter if "I don't feel like it" because HE has said "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Rom 8:28) This life is for Him, not for our satisfaction. Ask Him to use your life for HIS Glory alone. He is so gracious, He will even fill you with joy as the focus on us is moved to the focus on HIM. I am praying for you Laura, my heart hurts for you, because God has so much more for you then what you know. I only know this by what He has revealed through His Word. I encourage you to look through His Word and find His promises. Hold them up as Unmovable Truths, everything must and will bend to these Truths.

I respect pastor Piper, but by his very logic, no man can truly know they are saved. God’s Spirit can work in them, enlightened them, penetrate him, move in them, convict them, be moved in them mightily under the influence of the word of God, and still the believer can never be assured of Christ’s saving grace. The Spirit of God does not tease. He is received by faith (Eph. 1:13 ), but He could be lost by continual sin (Psalm 51:11 ). Please be careful calling God a “liar” based off your interpretation of the text. In the case that you are wrong, this is a very scary statement, pastor. Do not forget that the entire New Testament warns the believer about deceptions, falling away, false teachers, love of the world, etc. if there were no threat, there would be no warning. First Corinthians 15:1 -4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. The second we believe that gospel we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13 -14. and Ephesians 4:30 . Our guarantee of eternal life. It is so simple. John 6:47 Jesus said, Verily, verily , I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTIING LIFE. Present tense. If you have everlasting life today, then you will have everlasting life forever because it is eternal. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the POWER of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. You can not earn it, and you can not lose it. It is the GIFT of God. Romans 6:23 .

Galatians 1:6-9 If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I again. If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us. let him be accursed. John Piper is preaching a false gospel according to the bible. Romans 4:5-8 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justitieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for HIS righteousness. We have to be as righteous as God to go to heaven. And no one is. We are all sinners. First John 1:8. Jesus paid the penalty for all sin to who ever would believe on Him alone. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth righteousness APART FROM WORKS. Blessed is the man whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. I am a sinner and so are you. But Jesus paid the penalty for all sin so we do not have to go to hell to pay for them John 3:16-18. For God so loves you, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, that WHOSOEVER, believeth in Him, should not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE. Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it. John 3:18 Once you believe it you are saved forever. Not till you sin again tomorrow, but for ever. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall SAVE A SOUL FROM DEATH, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” We don’t build doctrine upon human reason. The life is eternal life. It is from God, and those who “hear” Jesus voice and “believe” on him (Both present ongoing tense verbs) have eternal life (present tense) and are passed from death to life (perfect tense). The verb “hears “ (my voice) is the Greek word “to hearken/ obey”. It is the identical word used in the Septuagint when Samuel rebuked Saul who had stopped hearkening to God. Saul lost the Holy Spirit after and died in his sins, a suicide. John 5:24 contains 7 verbs. The verbs referring to the one who “hears” and “believes” are CONDITIONAL. And the Greek present tense is ongoing. It is only those who continue to hear and continue to believe that continue to have eternal life and are passed from death to life. The perfect tense (“are passed from death to life”) is the tense used to describe STATE. And state verbs can change. When Paul says “he that eats not of faith is damned”, he uses perfect tense. The man is condemned but can change if he repents. As for the state of having passed from death to life, this is reversible (in this world). Ezekiel clearly spells this out: Ezekiel 18:24 “But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.”

Your idea of sealing is not in accord with Greek grammar or lexical meaning. The seal “sphragion” was a Signet ring. It was an imprint made in wax. Paul says that Christians are sealed with the Holy Ghost “Of promise” FOR (eis) the day of redemption. The Greek preposition “eis” is the second most commonly used preposition in the New Testament. It has a locative meaning of “in, and into and unto” and it has an instrumental meaning for. The typical use of “eis” when used instrumentally is to designate “intent and purpose”. For example, “This is the blood of the new covenant given and shed FOR remission of sins” Eis (unto) IS NOT A PREPOSITION OF TIME. It does not mean “UNTIL”. “Unto” does not equal “until” But in this passage, even the translation “unto” is incorrect. Considering the purpose for the imprint of the Holy Ghost, it has the typical Greek meaning of purpose. “Imprinted by the Holy Spirit FOR the day of redemption” The people in Hebrews 6:4 also were sealed with the Spirit for the day of redemption after they first trusted. This is made ABUNDANTLY CLEAR in the text for we read “They were MADE PARTAKERS of the Holy Ghost”. The passive verb is used to show that God did the work. God made them partakers. Hapax “ONCE” is used to show these were DEFINITE EVENTS. They were truly enlightened (also passive in the Greek) and truly converted Christians who truly fell away. Exactly as Jesus described in Luke’s account of the parable of the sower. They had no root in themselves but they certainly believed according to Jesus (in Luke’s account of the sower) and they were therefore sealed after they first trusted according to Paul in Ephesians. And they certainly fell away after having received the Holy Ghost according to Hebrews. To deny this is to put man’s words in place of Gods words

jim kraft jim kraft It's good that a man stand by faith in the Gospel alone. I take no exception to that. This is not the issue here. But when you quoted David in Psalm 32 "Blessed is the man to whom God imputes righteousness" apart from works, which every true Christian must agree with ... did you not consider what David ALSO wrote in Psalm 51? "CAST ME NOT AWAY FROM THY PRESENCE AND TAKE NOT THY HOLY SPIRIT FROM ME" Did you not consider that he who spoke of justification by grace through faith alone spoke also of losing the Holy Spirit and being cast away ? We must stand and the promises of God AND HEED the WARNINGS of God also. To teach the sweet promises of God (only) while denying the Warnings of God is to create a false doctrine of the promises. It is to lie in God's name. It sounds so Spiritual doesn't it? And We feel so righteous to say we are standing on God's promises. But when we distort the Word of God by teaching only the comfort passages while denying the truth of the warnings in scripture we really falsify the Bible also. It is possible to use passages in such a way as to make a false doctrine out of them . I have seen in this generation an addiction to the false doctrine of semi Calvinism : the delusion that a believer cannot fall away. But this is precisely the very thing that Hebrews 6:4-6 describes ... If Scripture has any meaning and authority for us at all. Tell me something: Why do men believe John 3:16 and deny Hebrews 6:4-6? Both are true. The Lord uses The subjunctive mood of the verb here, in John 3:16 He says NOT: "God so loved the world that whosoever believes in him WILL not perish" BUT RATHER "God so loved the world that whosoever believes in him SHOULD not perish" The subjunctive mood describes what is possible. God sent his Son that whosoever believes in him SHOULD not perish" ( μὴ ἀπόληται ) Yes , it is certain that those who continue in faith will be saved (Colossians 1:22, 23) "She shall be saved .... if they continue in FAITH and charity and HOLINESS with sobriety." 1 Timothy 1:15 Paul certainly doesn't state that child bearing saves anyone. He rather points out under this example that in our various callings we SHALL BE SAVED ... IF we continue in FAITH, which implies continuing in Holiness etc also. Paul makes it clear that we cannot be saved by our works and he makes it equally clear that we must continue in the faith. In this he agrees with Jesus. "He that continues to the end, the same shall be saved"

Christ did it once and will not do it again . Once we are saved , we are forgiven forever. These passages cannot be any clearer than they are about eternal security. We believe by faith Christ died for us once and no matter how many times we ask for forgiveness or repentance we are not resting in the total forgiveness and sanctification that Christ provided on the cross and calling him a liar and putting him once again to open shame by our short accounts of sin and disobedience. My God! where is the mercy and grace found in this guys message"?. He is preaching bondage and religion not the forgiveness that Christ provided for us ONCE and for all." Christ died so we could have life"!. rest in that by faith and be encouraged by the letter to the Hebrews as assurance of our salvation and not "Salvation IF"i do" type of theology.

Read Ephesians chapter 1 the whole thing and tell me :who is the purchase possession in verse 14? What was that possession bought with? Then go to verse 13-> talks about does that are born again What were you sealed with after you were born again? Does your unfaithfulness make the faithfulness of God void? Absolutely not thank God that he is not like us. Meditate on this passages Also recommend that you read John chapter 10. Someone who claims that they can Loose their salvation does not understand the Gospel and measure their right standing with God according to how much faith, works or fruits they have. I struggled with HEB 6:4 -8 for years... If we love anything more than Christ, we need to see if we are truly in the faith, or was our "Salvation prayer " just an emotional moment where we didn't understand the full committment of turning from everything of the world to follow after Christ alone. I was deceived in the Church for over 50 years thinking I was a believer, when I absolutely was not. All of the Pastors that I was taught by only tickled our ears. Matt 7:22 ... Lord, Lord, didn't I put all my faith in Jesus Christ who died for my sins, I said The Sinner's Prayer, I got Baptized, I went to Church 1-2-3 times a week, I sang in the Choir, I Fasted, I Read my Bible Devotional, I tried to Obey it, I Prayed, I Care for the Widows, the Homeless, and those in Prison, I Tithed, I Fought for the Unborn, I did an overseas Mission trip, I Observed the Sabbath, I Disciplined New Believers, I Evangelized on the street, I even toured Israel, etc, etc. My victim mentality finally died on Aug 10, 2017. 1ST JOHN 3:9 -10 says: 9. NO one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them, they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10. This is how we KNOW who the children of God are and who the children of the Devil are!!! Why is this verses and hundreds of others never taught in the church?? God, who is The Great Physician has physically healed me within a matter of 1-2 days after gut wrenching prayer..Refusing to let go of the edge of His garment until I was healed (Matt 9:21 -22). 2 Peter 2:20 -21 is what's keeps me focused: 20. When we slip up in thought or deed, instantly repent before God hardens us. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from All unrighteousness. James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall SAVE A SOUL FROM DEATH, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”

@@1844JC I want to write to you a proper reply . But it's late for me here and I need Time to think clearly . In short , consider this: - You are still alive are you not? - God has not struck you down yet as you we all deserve for our sins , right ? - Has not God sworn with an oath in Ezekiel 33, by His very existence that he wills not the death of the wicked (that is you), but rather He wills that YOU turn and live ? - Has not the Apostle reminded us that while we may have fallen into unbelief , and been unfaithful, nevertheless "He remains faithful , He cannot Deny himself" (2 Timothy) - Didn't Christ the Lamb of God take away the SINS OF THE WORLD (that's your sins) - Doesn't grace much more abound where sin abounds ? He described this already in Isaiah 45:8 'Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it." - He knows your backskidings and heals you from them precisely by means of the Gospel for he says ... " I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.". Hosea 14:4 In other words, it is precisely because Christ has turned away God's anger from YOU , on the cross, that God can : Love you freely , Heal your backsliding ... So yes, while our legalistic minds say "God must be against me, He has to be!" God is in fact already reconciled to the world by the cross and has given us this message of reconciliation. It is good news friend . "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation". 2 Corinthians 5:19 And he can truly say to you now ... As if Jesus were standing next to you ... "I am pacified toward thee FOR ALL THAT THOU HAST DONE, saith the Lord GOD."
