Heavy Weight Ducati. 749 project part 7. Rear shock, wheel and exhaust go back on the super bike

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

There's some heavy lifting in store for Dave as he gets more bits of the 749 project back together. The exhaust pipe and rear wheel are especially weighty lumps. Also time to fit the newly refreshed rear shock!

Nothing like a full Anglo/ Irish breakfast while watching Dave work on a Ducati.

Great video as usual, thank you Dave. Servicing my R1100S last week I followed your practice of turning over the engine without spark until the oil pressure light went out. Connected up plug leads and it started with an explosion that nearly blew the garage door off and made me check my underwear!!! Hurry up with the next episode. Can’t wait.

Just discovered your channel today Dave. Binge watched the 749 series, brilliant pal, thankyou. P.s don't forget to change the fuji nuts and spring washers on the belt tensioners in future 😆.

Great stuff Dave! Looking great & smart! I can’t remember if the panels need redoing? The Termi muffler letterbox look much better with a carbon shroud in my opinion. A little out of the price range but worth looking in to.the mid pipe was hydro formed in shape to narrow past the box swingarm & rearsets. A very interesting piece of exhaust. Nearly there!🇮🇹

Yah I notice your twisted inuendoes fingering it in, etc. Your just maybe slightly deprived sexually. What would you say is a good replacement for the heavy wheels?

Hey thanks for showing as much as you do with the 749 can you do a front wheel replacement with the torq specs and order the tightening goes please 🥺

"... that's the adjustable tie-rod they always tell you not to adjust." Then they sell you a special tool so you can set the right height by adjusting the tie-rod 😂

Watching this is a real tonic, it makes me appreciate that while working on my MV F4 is frustrating, the 749 is worse. Thanks for the uplifting feeling 👍🏻 The F4 4 pipe end can is also ridiculously heavy, but easier to fit. I think like MV, Ducati contracted Cagiva, some design and production, hence the elephant.

For this reason I consider the 749 a step back from the 748, which is quite easy to work on IMO and seems like it was designed logically for ease of maintenance.

It's true, the previous generation bikes were easier to take apart, having worked on newer bikes, Inc many jap bikes, nobody is making life easier for the mechanic!!

@@obsession_engineering a tip RE "easier".. that rear exh pipe would bug the sh!t outta me.. I etch clean oxide soaking it with phosphoric acid.. food grade via commercial food suppliers or.. commercial cleaning supplies.. I keep the acid in place on the affected areas by soak toilet tissue on the acid in place.. wet the area then dab the tissue on it, it sticks & sits there as a sponge.. phosphoric acid is the active agent in rustkill BUT rustkill is 8% concentrate.. I use 25% concentrate mmwa 👌.. may take a few hrs but you get mint silver stainless that's all but invisible.. I'm looking at an st4s fitting up as a Monster s4r & a s4r swing arm.. $2500nz a great buy indeed.. loving all yer videos. P.S. phosphoric acid is used in drycleaning too to remove metallic oxide stains.. it doesn't harm your skin or clothes.. big bonuses all round.. touchup that annoying rust in frame corners & cracked & chipped paint

I always liked the look of the 749 , the later swingarm looks great. Dave can you suggest where I can get the tech specs for the supertwin cat IOM I asked you about R7 and you said it’s a bit strangled by 38mm where as 660/patons are 48 , have the rules changed? I think Mr Rutter is going to run an R7 just hoping they’ve allowed the R7 to make some more power . Top job on the 749 really enjoying the progress.

#99 and #49 bikes are great but generally a bit of a pig to work on compared to the older #48, #96 and #98 bikes.
