HEAVY RECOVERY : Truck loaded with fluid on its side (VOLVO FM) 🚛👷🏻

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

HEAVY RECOVERY - LELYSTAD - On the N307, Markerwaarddijk, a lorry was tilted from the sewer cleaning in a bend to the dike on Tuesday morning. The driver got off without a hitch. The way was closed in both directions because of the recovery of the truck. Bergnet has salvaged the truck in collaboration with Kraanbedrijf Stouwdam. At that time, the truck still had a full tank that had come loose from the truck's chassis. The recovery companies managed to keep the tank and the truck together.

    There seemed to me the truck had a lot of weight high up on the rear of the tanker.when loaded this must have been top heavy. i drove 44 ton trucks in the uk for 33 years. loaded tankers do not like bends at speed. lesson.take your time.do NOT rush. because your boss will not like that scene.nice video,

    why the crane? both wreckers should be enough to upright the truck. poor rigging, and the crane was working against you. if anything the crane should have rigged to the backside of the tank to help roll the truck. but you didnt do that. one wrecker should be rigged to pull down on the wheels and the other wrecker should have had its boom up and extended out to reach over the top,and with 2 lines over the top over of the tank and connected to the extra straps connected to the frame. the wrecker with extended boom would lift and roll the truck from the backside while the other wrecker pulling down on the wheels. i noticed that when you rig and pull on the wheels/axles that you are pulling sideways. you need to run the line from the wrecker to the lowest point on the wrecker an outrigger maybe and use a snatch block to redirect the line upward to the wheel/axle in order to pull down. other than that..you tow operators across the pond are great.

  • @martingardener90

    @martingardener90

    4 жыл бұрын

    I agree about the poor rigging, why go to the bother of fitting the hub lifting points and then rigging the wreckers to the axles - the hubs would have given a even steeper pull down. Also some of those chains looked like light load binders not decent recovery chains. As you say running lines over the top would have been a better idea especially as it say's the tank had broken loose. 10/10 for removing the prop before pulling it over.

  • @wolf310ii

    The crane is only to prevent the truck to flip over to the other side. If the truck comes over the tipping point, the would have no controll over the truck anymore only with the wrecker. And the wreckers are no mobile cranes, they cant lift and extend the boom so much to reach over the truck

    Nice to read a comment that shows you do the job and know how to do it properly, l used a 750 holmes for thirty years, sometimes l needed 2 trucks, some of my jobs were far worse than that, l am 65 years old now and still do the job most days, but with modern equipment, no safety cut outs on a 750 you just let the creaks and groans talk to you. Best wishes.

    @@wolf310ii but you had room the other side of the tanker, don't pull so bloody low, use your hub attachments properly for goodness sake, l use a big wooden block on top of the wheels and run a chain or strop around it and around the wheel,wish l had fancy gear,!!!!!!
