Heavenly Pink Lake in South Australia | Point Sinclair Pink Lake (Lake MacDonnell)

Lake Sinclar, often referred to as the "Pink Lake" in South Australia, gets its distinctive rosy hue from high concentrations of salt loving algae called dunaliella salina and a bacteria called halobacteria that secrete carotenoid red pigments. The lake's captivating pink coloration varies in intensity depending on different environmental conditions and water levels. Therefore, the lake is not always as pink as shown in the pictures.
It is also best viewed from above (like most pink lakes) so we do recommend flying the drone here if you have one!
