Heaven Is A Beautiful Place, Grandpa John.

After fighting blood cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, and liver cancer, Grandpa John has passed away. These are a few of my favorite memories of Grandpa. Thank you for your prayers.

He’s still farming now, Cole. There are no weeds, no markets, no pests, just love and more beauty in the sunsets than we could ever comprehend here. Thanks, Grandpa John. And all our love to Grandma Judy.

So sorry that you all are suffering because of Grandpa John's homecoming. It is so hard to say See You Later but we have that assurance from God. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116, 15. While we mourn, God and Jesus are welcoming Grandpa John to his eternal home. May God's Peace and Comfort cover each one of you.

Grandpa John was 23 days older than I am. So we shared the same memories including the weather, sports teams, crazy high school girls, and cars. I grew up in southern MN in corn country but we raised sweep corn in them parts and when the tractor pulled corn wagons brought the corn to our local cannery, my friends and I would jump the last wagon and grab a few ears of this just picked corn and have my friends grandmother cook it for us. Eating fresh corn in the hot summer afternoon for a 12 year old was as good as it got back then. I bet your grandpa John had some tails like these that he shared with you, right? Sorry for your family’s loss Cole.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Cole, you lead in a way that brings us all great joy, as I am sure as the sun comes up the following day - your grandpa did too. My grandpa died early... one I only ever spent 8 hours with. But when I carried his casket, with my cousins to his grave, and watched it be lowered into the ground, with the green strapped clicky thingy, it killed me inside... I cannot tell you how I held myself together in that church, the old catholic choir singing the old "mine eyes have seen the glory" hymn. But looking at the cross, imagining Jesus' suffering to give us all restorative peace... That's what grandpa would have wanted us to not be sad about but rejoice as a family, community, and one cohesive unit. Loss is just that. Loss. We all owe one... We need to keep that in mind and not waste our precious time on this giant spinning ball. Make every moment count. DO the best we can, be the best person and best partner to our families. In the end, it's not between you and them. It's between us and God.

Grandpa John sounds like he lived life well and long and was well loved, you can't ask for much more than that. He will be missed and my prayers and thoughts go out to all his loved ones during this difficult time.

I'm so very sorry for you and your families loss. Judy you'll see him again and what a joyous reunion it will be in the presence of the Lord our God. You're right he is in a better place now and it sounds like he has some stories to tell all his brother, new friends as well as old ones he is now reunited with... God Bless...
