Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond, We Were Wrong the Whole Time!?

Ойын-сауық

A long time ago in a hut not too far away we originally reviewed Heaven Hill BiB and hated it! We then recently had it in a blight flight and actually really enjoyed it. So, we had to go find a new bottle and give it another chance.

I grabbed a bottle of it instead of more Eagle Rare or Blanton’s from the grocery store’s last allocated shipment. Paid $49, no regrets. It’s absolutely delicious!

I see it right around $49 when I see it these days, and it’s pretty damn great. One of my favorite bottles I have right now, and one of the few that I have a backup bottle for in case I can’t find it for a while

I actually picked up a bottle of this yesterday and my thoughts were exactly the same. I bought a bottle when this bottle first came out and did not like it much, this years bottling is WAY BETTER. I am a fan of Heaven Hill and similar Jim Beam profile so I am very happy that they have made this better.

I am glad you guys like it. I did the Connoisseur tasting at the Heaven Hill Experience in Bardstown. We were given ECBP C922, EC Toasted, HH BiB, McKenna 10, and Parker Heritage 2018 (Orange Curacao Finish). When trying to pick my favorite - I had to throw out the PH 2018 because it was such a different flavor profile and in the super rare category that I didn't think it fair to include. With the other 4 - HH BiB was my clear favorite and I was very surprised. In Louisville, you can find these for around $55. I will usually buy one so that I always have 3 bottles in the house. One for the bunker, one to drink when I want to, and one to keep around in case a good friend shows up and I want to crack open a good bottle.

@@sitori2509 Totally agree because even with ECBP going up in price slightly and varying the age statements a bit, 10+ year bourbon for $80 in this day and age is a great value. Even a weaker batch is great for anyone that want to experience older bourbon for what is a reasonable price in today’s market. I just got a Penelope 9 year for $75, similar situation in my mind, but even once Penelope puts out something with an age statement equal to what ECBP is doing, it’s gonna be more expensive

I think some good options against the 7yr BiB blind would be either of the Bardstown Origin bourbons, Four Roses Single Barrel, and Rare Breed. Yes, they're not direct comparisons, but they're great bottles for the price. FYI, in California I can find this bottle for $55 at a grocery store and occasionally for $40 at Costco or Total Wine. So $60-70 seems like overpaying from my perspective.

It’s always been good, came off allocation in Illinois this summer. Picked it up for 42$. For that, it’s fantastic is bourbon coming back to earth?

I just bought a bottle of Heaven Hill BiB and some Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C923 so I am happy to see I got a decent unknown for me . I'll taste it in a couple days but for now this E C C923 is 'well now!'

Are there any batch numbers on these? I bought a bottle online back in April and I wasn't the biggest fan of it. Still have it sitting on my shelf. I am sure I got one of the early bottles and it drank young and nutty as you guys described. I am tempted to go pick up another bottle (now that it's available on the shelves in NJ) and do a comparison as I assume the bottles available here are the next "better" batches but just want to makes sure I was buying new versus old...

Michigan is clearly much cheaper than here in Washington... Just picked this up a few weeks back, at Costco! Was 68 bucks out the door!
