Truck drivers are essential workers that often transport much needed supplies and commodities over many days on the road, yet little is known about the challenges they face along the way. For the first time, CNA tracks three long-haul drivers across China and India as they take on treacherous terrain and high-altitude mountain passes to deliver essential goods.
In Xinjiang, Guo Quan embarks on a trucking journey to his dream destination, Khunjerab Pass through the ancient Silk Road, with his wife in tow. Throughout the high-altitude journey, they take care of each other. However, tempers flare in the truck cabin between husband and wife when the going gets rough. In Bhopal, Yogita is a rare female truck driver who plys the long-haul routes of India. At the peak of summer, she endures high temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius while delivering wheat flour to one of the hottest towns in Central India.

An insight to how two nationalities in the same profession face problems and overcome them. The infrastructure development in China including the machinery used and the poverty, lack of road safety and bad roads. The societal views about the trucking profession from each country. I wish all of them the very best especially the lady driver.
Don't scream at your wife like that, they are doing their best to support and be with us, you know its silly matter to get angry, its not worth, appreciate our wife when they want to go along the journey that we fo through in building the future together, I never get angry or raising my voice at my wife, she's worth more than anything I'm doing

Loved this series. Wish the captions were larger (for phones) and slower (easier to read). The lady driver: wow; survival gives unexpected strength; I hope her son can help his mom carry the family’s business. The Asian guy: sir, your wife is more than a robot; she is a human; she was not put on this earth for your demands and your demands only; your wife does not drive with you as a companion, instead, you demand her to live her life for YOU! I am now curious, is she representing a cultural norm that other ladies face? If so, I suggest you question love ladies, seriously. Does he want YOU or what you can (and must) do for HIM???😢

Place shown where lady driver visited is actually very close by my in laws place. Its sad reality that every year many farmers do sucide in the region due to harsh weather and losses in farming.Weather is really harsh during summer time , you cant go outside after 8.30am till 5pm. This lady driver is something else,driving truck without AC. Although she is not from my place she speaks my languade,I am amazed.Hattsoff to her and her hard work.Inspiring

Do you need something like a tsl number to be a trucker or p endorsement to be a taxi driver in China or India? As in New Zealand you need a stupid tsl number to run a truck and a stupid p endorsement to run a taxi, and I have learning difficulties which makes it impossible to learn what the hell are they on about with all there flipping rules and regulations, pages and pages and pages of information and documents to get a stupid tsl number and a p endorsement, I couldn’t get either!

I'm not sure when this documentary was made however India has really long way to go to evenly match its infrastructure with China. Do they even know that "trailer less" trucks exists ? if you use those then you dont have to wait for your truck to be "loaded with goods" ?

Indian laws do not allow changing trailers and moreover roads are very narrow in the Himalayas it would be stupid to take large tractor trailer there.

Most ' commenters' here DON'T know about the realities of long distance truck driving, '74- '84, Indian in truck driver in Saudi, then '89- to present in Australia, 13,000,000 kms. no accidents but ' minor' bone fractures, from loading- unloading, massive stress from bosses, consignees, cops, now 72, have haemorrhoids, colon cancer from hiway junk food, cataracts, .... BUT best JOB in the world. Some times women partners, and rarely wife...both pains. Yogita is an exception.

Lmao, u cant use tractor config trucks in himalayan, that truck is 19 ton. Ppl use >50 ton truck in India depends on roads and loads.

The chinese trucks are modern and updated, while indian trucks are built using wood which is deemed archaic and unsafe in other regions of the world. The hand painted motifs on india trucks is eye sore tbh

The woman truck driver is fake. I asked around in Bhopal. She doesn't exist. Someone else drives the that truck.
