Your grandfather and his band made a lot of people happy then and still do to this day with their wonderful music. I was 11 years old in 1978 when this song came out and remember the first time I heard it and where i was. Great songs are a time machine and this one always takes me back to my youth and first love. May you be blessed as your grandfather was and how many millions he blessed with their timeless songs like this! All the best to you, young lady

Johnnie's accident was tragic, but the remainder of his life was NOT A TRAGEDY. He wouldn't allow it to be. He never lost that beautiful voice; he continued to sing, write and record - including for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he taught and guided young people; he produced music in the studio for other people; he never lost that megawatt smile and positive outlook; and he encouraged others that they too could make it after a similar setback, including Teddy Pendergrass who turned to Johnnie at his lowest moment - and they became good friends. Johnnie lived an additional 27 years after his injury and was a BLESSING to many. He literally ran his race and WON!

Rod Temperton was the keyboardist and main songwriter for Heatwave, writing songs including "Star of a Story", "Always and Forever", "Boogie Nights", and "The Groove Line". After he was recruited by record producer Quincy Jones, he wrote several successful singles for Michael Jackson, including "Thriller", "Off the Wall", and "Rock with You". He also wrote songs for George Benson, including "Give Me the Night" and "Love X Love", along with Patti Austin and James Ingram's United States number-one single "Baby, Come to Me", among many others. Temperton wrote the soundtrack for the 1986 film Running Scared and won a Grammy Award in 1990 for his work on Birdland, from Quincy Jones's album Back on the Block.
