One of the best covers I've ever heard! This is absolutely amazing version of an already fantastic song. Didn't think anyone could do it better and with more feeling than the original, but here she succeeds.

Hope you've followed up by perusing the rest of her work. She's among the most under-appreciated artists ever; so many truly brilliant tracks -- both originals and covers -- just waiting for you to find them & fall in love.

This is just and AMAZING cover of a damn great song!

Words can't express how beautiful this cover is. Gives me shivers and made me cry. Your voice is absolutly christal clear and you put a lot of pure, bare naked emotion to it. Thank you so much for posting this, Heather!

I heard a version of this song by her and Natalie Merchant years ago. It's still on my iPod but I can't find the song anywhere else. Probably one of the best female duo/cover I've ever heard!

Thanks for listening. A fantastic rendition of a great song. I'm always amazed by how female vocals seem to suit singing some songs by The Boss almost better than his own voice.

@Skyddish: Yeah, my greatest criticism is when someone covers a song they don't 'get'. She GETS it. And she -delivers-. Wow. Just perfect. I prefer it to be slower, honestly. It reveals this powerful, dark, deeper meaning to it. A real desperation not present in the original.

@CollarboneOfAHare Almost indeed ;-) It's a REALLY great cover, don't get me wrong! But I have the feeling it takes the soul out of the song a little bit or twists it's to another end... (I'm not the 'disliker' by the way! I like this!)

I had no idea HN covered this -- one of my favorite songs ever. Of course she does it brilliantly... AND she's pretty much the only one that gets the lyrics right. (It's "Does s/he do to you the things I DON'T do." Everyone else -- even Johnny Cash! -- turns it into "the things that I do," which makes no sense at all. Totally ruins it.)

I like Heather's cover of Peter Gabriel's "I Have The Touch". It's not better but it's good. However, "I'm On Fire" does _not_ lend itself to female folk music. Does not sound good at all. Some songs shouldn't be touched and the original is one of them.

Uninspired, brooding, dull, poor breathing technique, lack of vocal range, who want to see an artist who is so bored
