This video is a detailed instruction of heat fixing of painted garment.
When the painting is done, let it air dry for at least 24 hours. Later, without turning your garment inside out, place a cotton sheet on top of the painting and heat fix it by ironing (without steam) for around 5 minutes (setting: Cotton).
Almost everything you want to know about fabric paints and how to use them is in the open Course. There's also a Students' chat where we discuss and share everything related to clothes customization, problems that beginners face and other art materials. Join this community.

If you use fabric paint and follow these steps, will it be okay in a washer, not dryer but just washer?

Yes, sure. I do show in many of my paint reviews how painted fabric looks like after a machine wash. But to make sure that laundry cycle doesn't damage your design, there are a few things also to keep in mind in terms of painting technology (it matters how you apply paint, how you let it set and how many days the finished design has been resting after ironing,as it is not recommended to wash it as soon as it's been heat set). Hope you'll find these helpful. Good luck

Ironing doesn't turn acrylic paint into fabric paint. This method is to ensure permanence of textile paint on clothes. Regular Acrylic paint will behave on fabric in a usual way whether it's been ironed or not

@@FabricPaintingCoachwhen you say, 'acrylic paint will behave on a fabric in usual way', do you mean it will ripp off or get off?? Coz I have used acrylic paint on denim fabric (without iron press), and I have gifted some of them to business relations. Now I am concerned about it! 😟😮

@@ShivAadesh It will crack or peel. Mixing a fabric medium with the paint is how you get it to heat set properly.

Hi, listen, don't worry that much Yes, there is a chance that painting made with acrylics might perform the way I showed in video (cracking, or minor color fading) but that is mostly the result of laundry. Type of denim (regular cotton, or the stretchy kind) is an important factor here. Also, my design has cracked because it was on skinny jeans, and they were stretching on thighs when wearing - so it became visible. It's less likely to get that obvious issues if you painted let's say on a denim jacket or a hat. I hope your artwork will stay put and beautiful for a long time. All in all, acrylics ARE a reliable type of paint, just not as soft and flexible as the fabric paint.
