This presentation is a project overview of the challenges wildland firefighters and health and safety specialists with Aviation Forest Fire Emergency Services (AFFES) face in monitoring and preventing heat illness in Northern Ontario. The presentation reviews the challenges with the current monitoring system and strategies used in this project to understand the constraints of system.
Kira is student in the Kinesiology program at Laurentian University. She is an undergraduate student member of CROSH and this research was conducted in collaboration with Aviation Forest Fire Emergency Services with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for her fourth-year thesis.
