Tom was never really a top bodybuilder , no balance , disproportionate and genetically not as gifted as he claims. Moreover his squats were more sadistic and showboating as he would dangerously squat past 90 degrees . Rage is not the answer in BB.

@@TheCrusader1000 that was the 82 olympia. the 81 was controversial because franco columbo won despite having terrible gyno, undeveloped legs and just generally being smaller than the other competitors. When Platz was announced third the audience started booing and when franco won they started booing even louder and threw things on stage which is why many of the celebratory picture's were taken back stage. Platz was one of the only competitors who congratulated franco

To all my iron brothers and sisters, I think we all can relate to having setbacks or our heart broken in one way or another. In the gym we know how to turn that pain into power. If you're going through something right now, keep fn going. ''Anything negative that happened to me turned out to be an opportunity in disguise, it's hard to understand it at that time, but I ALWAYS found out later it was the best thing that happened to me.'' 💯 -Platz

Out of all the sports one can take to, bodybuilding is the one with the longest game. It has hundreds of rounds, each round lasting anywhere between 1 hour and 4, the sport of bodybuilding isn't played out on stage, the score is tallied on stage, the game itself is played out everytime a competitor goes to the gym, everytime they choose to stick to a structured diet, everytime they go to sleep the game is being played out. You see this in the mentality of the guys that do it, it's truly inspiring to see that these guys, like Tom Platz, are just absolute glutton for punishment. Few other sports out there requires you to hurt yourself first and foremost, that too only bodybuilding and a few other weight related sports require, pain isn't just a means to an end, it's the only thing in the endless waltz of bodily improvement that matters. Truly some of the most inspiring, high level athletes out there

For me, it was the other way around. I stopped training altogether. She cheated on me.I was preparing to compete , and I just fell into a black hole. That was over 25 years ago. Once I hit 50, I started training again. Its been close to 4 years of consistant hardcore old school training. I now squat up to 7 plates and have 22 nch arms. I'm bigger and better now and most important is that i'm back ! Bodubuilding for LIFE

Gear doesn't do the work for you and doesn't turn you into a Bodybuilder. Consistent training, discipline, diet and supplements do that. Try it sometime i stead of hating on other men from behind your screen. Its fruity and weird.

I was a 6-8 rep squatter basically since I started as a kid. When I heard the guy with the best legs ever did high rep, I thought "why not?". If you can squat 400lbs, I recommend trying 200 for 20, and I mean perfect form squats too. I have never experienced a pump in my entire leg like that. High reps with higher weight is something I'm looking forward to.
