England played in 5th gear the first half. Spain played in 2nd. That’s all that was required to be on par with England’s best. Spain shifted to third in 2 periods of the game, and immediately dropped back to second when they scored. England second half couldn’t keep up the level. Poor as they have been most of the tournament

Always telling me about the spanish armada defeat....but never telling about they won that Battle but they lost the war as the treaty of London in 1604 signed peace was benefitial for Spain. I'm Indian and I have all the reasons to be against England as well, but I must say that some of you are terribly overreacting against England. English fans, however they may have been historically, did not show any excitement anywhere near as Euro 2020. Rory and others may have been stupid but if that is enough to drive people to hate the England team, the terrible behaviour of the Argentine players since the 2022 world cup to this day as you may have seen should similarly drive them to hate Argentina. I don't see that happening. This hypocrisy is not the way. Also England didn't need added time against the Dutch. Watkins scored at exactly 90. This is just petty.

I did think it was weird not seeing him covering that position considering how much he’s been asked to cover forward and back. Must of felt comfortable enough for Walker to deal with the threat on his own and he didn’t know whether to stay tight or push out wide he was lost. Wasn’t an easy situation to be in needed better instruction from the manager but tbh he’s experienced enough to deal with that.

No, they don't. Many of the Spanish players do not play at Barca or RM. Thus they are not surrounded by world class players. Take Danny Olmo for example plays for Leipzig, a decent club but not filled with stars by any means. Yet Olmo when he gets better plays around in the national team? Looks like one of the best player in Europe. Contrast that with Phil Foden. Looks like a world beater at Man City and TBF he had a great season. Yet...take away all those world class players like Rodri, Bernado Silva, Haarland etc and suddenly Foden doesn't look the same player.

If England had any sort of tactical competency with the level of talent they have paired with players who don’t consistently play worse at the international level (it’s insane considering how talented each player does for their club) then maybe they’d actually win something

Spain substituted their best player, Rodri, and then scored the two goals. Olmo, who was the substitute for Pedri before injury, has been contender for man of the tournament. How can anyone in good faith say that Southgate should stay on just because he's made the finals twice? Have you not been paying any attention? England have had the easiest possible path to the finals twice and they've barely scraped it there. He has an unbelievable squad and yet all he can make them do is play like Stoke from 2013. A better manager will offer this squad something more substantial than just ''vibes'' and should the FA be brave enough to get such an appointment, the contrasts will be clear for all to see. Exactly right! People who say Kyle Walker is good don't know ball. I've said it for years and people scoff at me. I am reminded of something Maldini used to say- he used to say if I have to make a slide tackle and leave my feet, it might look good for the high light reel and the camera but it's because I messed up my job as a defender and i had to last gasp save it. Kyle Walker to me has ALWAYS seemed to rely on his speed instead of being a good defender and positioning well. If his highlight reel is just running hard to recover it means he's constantly out of position and his speed is what hides his mistakes. It's awful!

I think your last sentence put it best why English fans are sometimes the most annoying fans. The amount of confidence for a team that hasn't won anything in 60 years is unbelievable. Other fans want their team to win, they may even hope to win. They may even be quite confident that their team will win. But English fans are ALWAYS certain that they are going to win. And they never do. What a misplaced sense of confidence.
