This song is actually about a friend of theirs that was dying of cancer. It describes the dreams she was having, which served as ike a respite from the pain and suffering she was going through during her waking moments.

I am a black woman and I love this song. It's from the 80s. You should listen to it at least 2 more times after reading the lyrics, because you will have a better understanding of the song. That's why you seem a little baffle at what you're listening to. The song was a really big hit for the Heart sisters. And the song had a mystique kind of mystery to it. like a love song with symbolic images that's in this woman's dreams, it had a mystical feel to it about a woman singing about her mystical dreams of a prince and her broken heart.etc👸 💔🤴 🎆🌬️🌌✨☁️🛌🧜☁️🎆

LOL..." a good song" this song was HUGE !!! Heart's first Number one song.....first of over 20 and Hall of Fame career. Nancy Wilson sings lead on this masterpiece....but normally Ann Wilson sings lead. Heart is arguable the greatest Female lead Rock Band of all time...........very, very deeo treasure trove of songs dating back to the Mid 1970s. Research them..............and fall in LOVE with them ! (Like the rest of the universe has)

I’m sorry that this song missed the mark for you. I happen to love it for a couple of reasons. First of all it’s having Nancy Wilson on lead vocals. I’ve always loved Nancy from the first time I saw Heart live in the 70’s. She’s an amazing guitarist and her backing vocals to her astoundingly talented sister Annie are superb, but here she has the spotlight. Secondly, I love the message that your dreams can take you anywhere. “Every second of the night, I live another life”. To have a life is a blessing unto itself, but to experience a whole different life while you sleep is an even greater gift. Love what you do. Keep on rocking. ♥️ ✌🏼😎

Written by Martin Page + Bernie Taupin. Produced by Ron Nevison. Engineered by Mike Clink. All-stars for writing + recording! 😃😃😃😃 Recorded at The Record Plant in Saucelito. North of San Francisco, birthplace of Nancy + ex drummer Denny Carmassi. 🌁 Nancy sings. 1 of her best singing efforts. 👩‍🎤 Suggested next song: Will You Be Tgere in the Morning. RIP Sharon Hess. Nancy dedicated this song to her.

This is a sign of the times. The inability or unwillingness of people to communicate honestly. You had an honest reaction to a song you didn't like, but felt badly expressing that genuine opinion. This is the main reason I don't pay much attention to these 'reaction' videos anymore. EVERYONE LIKES EVERYTHING, and I would hope we all know that it doesn't work that way. I would never have come to this video since I don't like it, or alot of the sappy stuff they, and unfortunately, many other bands released later in their catalogue, but I saw you react to 'Barracuda' and your shock that this was the same group. Lol. It is hard to believe, isn't it. Kudos to you and your honesty, and while you may not have as many subscribers as some of the others, you will have more credibility. Thank you.

The fact that this one didn't stir you just validates the genuineness of your reactions. I love Heart, but this is not one of my favorites. It has a good sound but its message escapes me. I like songs with a good sound and a meaning that resonates. Try "Alone" but make sure you get the video version. Ann Wilson pours her heart out vocally in that one, and Nancy Wilson jams with some crazy good guitar riffs.

Angela - Those beautiful eyes!! Yes, yours!! Okay the song. I am not sure rock songs are meant to be taken literally. Mark Lindsay told me once that he would only record songs that sold money. So, I guess the meaning of songs would come secondary or even none at all. I give you kudos just for listening to songs before your time in music. Don't be so hard on yourself. Don't be at all concerned that you weren't feeling this one. Heart is great band but this is not the best introduction to their work... as soon as I saw this video was released I thought "Oh no, Angela's fallen into the trap of listening to '80s Heart before hearing '70s Heart!" This song is very representative of pop/glam '80s music in general and was a huge hit but the roots of Heart are in bangin' rock and roll. I'm so glad that you went on to listen to Barracuda, and I highly recommend other Heart work from that era including Crazy On You, Magic Man, Love Alive and Heartless. P.S. Same ladies, different hair. P.P.S. After listening to more '70s Heart definitely check out their Stairway to Heaven cover at Kennedy Center, it's amazing! P.P.P.S. Love your reactions, just subscribed to your channel!

70's Heart vs 80's Heart is definitely two completely different things. Much the same as 70's Chicago vs 80's Chicago. I like them both in their own ways. But definitely don't evaluate either band only on what they did in the 80's. You'll miss a huge part of both.

It's hard to review music from era's that you were not around for and you really cannot connect to as either a slow song or up tempo song. The 80's was the era of the power ballads and theses songs talked about life, love, death and just about anything. This song is being sung by the Wilson sisters from Heart which is a rock band that sang a power ballad song about the dreams they're having for the loss of a friend and how they're looking for going through that loss by the dreams they're having. Your reviews are very good 👍 and it's okay if you don't understand a song because music always changes.

I admit I was wondering what would happen if you came across a song that either didn't move you much or that you just didn't like. You're being honest about what the song did or didn't do for you, and that's okay. It's good to see that you didn't fake it and talk about how good you thought the song was or go into histrionics over it. "Fake" wouldn't become you; it doesn't fit who you are; and I don't think you could be fake if you tried. The reality of who you are is what makes this channel. I've said it before: keep up the good work.

"Alone" is much better representation of the best Heart from the 80's. They were just beginning to transfer their sound to what their studio desired for the 80's. You get to hear why Ann Wilson(dark hair) is considered one of the best female rock voices ever. The place they shine is in the 70's rock music, which was more them and less studio influence. This is a nice song, what it does is allow Nancy, (blonde,) to sing lead.

The dark haired lady is Ann Wilson, the normal lead singer and one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. She is also in the Song Writer's Hall Of Fame. The blonde singing lead on this particular song and playing guitar is her younger sister Nancy Wilson. Incidentally Nancy was selected by Gibson as the 8th greatest female guitar player of all time! Don't apologize because you didn't really like this song. I watch your reactions in large part because I appreciate your honesty. Heart has a very deep rabbit hole, I would recommend checking out their cover of "Stairway to Heaven " at the Kennedy Center honoring Led Zepplin. Funny seeing those hair-metal visuals, while hearing a very polished production ballad. :^) This is quite a sophisticated song for a pop ballad - or at least, the verse part has some pretty slick chord voicings & progressions. The vocals are terrific - clear and perfectly in tune, but with that rock 'edge' to them. I'm a fan.

Heart is not "hair metal." This was their '80s power ballad era, in which they did more pop than usual, but they are a straight-up rock band based on their early breakout songs from the '70s. (If you want to hear some great female '80s hair metal, check out Lita Ford's 'Kiss Me Deadly," which rocks in a hair metal way, though she has more of a quasi-punk rock background with the Runaways in the '70s with Joan Jett.) As others noted, Ann Wilson is definitely one of the greatest female rock vocalists ever. It would be a neck-and-neck race between her and Grace Slick, but I'd give Ann the edge. Nancy did fine with the vocals here, but her guitar skills are where she kills it.

You want to get more emotion and depth. Not a problem, go with "Magic Man". Want to rock out? Go with "Barracuda".

A pleasant and enjoyable song, but probably the least representative of who Heart really were/are and the corniest video they ever produced.

Don't feel bad. Ann hated this song as well. All the hair spray and glam stuff not their cup o tea.

Not true. She liked this song but thought it suited Nancy’s voice better.

Nancy Wilson is singing lead which is rare. Ann Wilson the dark haired sister is the best rock singer in history. Listen to Alone, What About Love, Never, Dog and Butterfly, Barracuda, Crazy On You, etc.

saw/heard this song many times back in the 80's. they have great voices and it's a nice song, but the video sucked, with all this fake rocking and hair throws. i still like the song but laugh my ass off at the video. but hey, since it's Angela doing the reaction, i will watch. i am just not looking at the song's video feed. there is something else just as lovely to look at here.😘
