Heart Ann Wilson BBC Interview 1982
Музыка
This was a rough era for Heart. A change in line up and a big change in musical direction left fans confused, and Heart experienced a big drop in album sales. Either before or during the tour to support Private Audition, Steve Fossen & Michael Derosier left the band, and Marc Andes (from Canned Heat, Spirit & Firefall) and Denny Carmassi (from Montrose) stepped in.

The third Wilson sister, “Sue?” Ya mean Lynn. 🙄 Sylvie Simmons wrote an article on Heart circa 1980, with quotes later reused for a 1987 Creem article on Heart. Thanks for uploading this!

Good catch! I listened to this at least 20 times while editing, and I still missed that! I heard her say "Sue" but I pictured "Lynn." My brain is so weird! 😆It does that subconscious correction thing.

@@tiedyearmy I get you! Sylvie was confusing co-writer and honorary sister Sue Ennis.
I actually truly love this Album. Very creative, new and refreshing. In 1982 it was really out of its element.

That's nice to hear! It was such a departure for them at the time, and they took such a lot of bad criticism for it, but who can deny how beautiful Angels and One Word are? :) I think it's underappreciated, for sure!
Wow, this is awesome! I’m from New Orleans and the heat is brutal in the summer. I loved hearing that.❤
I saw this tour in September 1982 in St Louis and Marc and Denny were already on tour with them. Great show!
Lynn Wilson is the big sister, Sue is Sue Ennis , just a very good friend of the sisters.
Interesting interview. "Magazine ", "Ouch"!

I know, right? When people ask me what my favorite albums are, I say, "Well, the first four Heart albums. All of them, in no order, because I love them equally!" It's different being the artist, though. Ann's hearing it all with a whole different perspective. I thought it was funny that they played Kick It Out right after Ann talked about how much she hated that song and didn't want people to hear it! 🤣

@Tie Dye Army , I'm a push over for all of them. I can immediately answer with a favorite song or two from each one. Dog & Butterfly still reigns as a top contender for favorite of all time. Magazine has several good songs on it.

@@tiedyearmy And in the wake of Taylor Hawkins death, we rewatch Foo Fighters and Ann and Nancy doing “Kick It Out” on Letterman in 2014!

@@manxuberglider8 We watched that recently as well. It was a kickin' version!
Mark Andes is one of the greatest bassists of rock.
It's interesting how after they voted Roger Fisher, out of the band, their album sales took a nose dive. Bebe Le Strange barely made gold and Private Audition & Passionworks completely bombed. Thank goodness 1985 saw them make a MASSIVE comeback!
What rock “hour’? Too short

It's the interview without the songs. :)
Roger Fisher played a huge part in Heart's success.

Have you heard Roger Fisher's first solo album? I have that on my channel.
I think private audition should have been more successful. Perfect stranger should have been big.

I thought for a while there it was going to do something. This Man Is Mine almost took off, and I always thought that was a cool song. But, yeah, Perfect Stranger is a beautiful song. Always one of my favorites off that album.

@@tiedyearmy also, this album, and passionworks have continued to sell over the years.
Long time fan here. This is undoubtedly Hearts worst album. You here Ann basically admitting it’s not a great album.

I think it’s a great album. I’d say it’s better than Bebe Le Strange.
the album didn't sell because half of the songs were not what a HEART fan woudn't wait from the band, and there was a poor work done by their record company. THERE ARE GREAT TRACKS on it but there were also very weak tunes too, probably the worst of their entire history.
