On the last day of minicamp and the last practice, Alvin Kamara decided to leave early because he was dissatisfied with negotiations with restructuring his deal.
Kamara's current contract has a balloon note in the form of a $21 million cap hit in 2025, so it has been well known the Saints weren't going to live with that.
The impasse is over guaranteed money -so while Kamara has stated he wants to be a Saints for life, he also is looking for the kind of financial guarantees players such as Cam Jordan has received...while looking at what Christian McCaffery received from the 49ers as a ceiling.
But Kamara will be 30 next season, and while he still has plenty of tread left on the tires, once of the criticism Saints cap management has had is over paying 30 year old players instead of moving on.
Tonight, we weigh in on Kamara's contract, who has the leverage and what would possibly make both sides happy.
Join Bob Rose and Allen Ulrich tonight at a special time of 7:30
