I can truly appreciate all that was said here. The circumstance we deal with is that both of our daughters are married to men who aren’t Christians. They tend to use bad language from time to time. My tactic has always been to ignore the language and find ways to encourage them and let them know I love them, even though the cursing drives me crazy. Is there something non threatening I can say about it, or should I stick with my current tactic?

Thank you for your comment and your question. Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide counseling by email, text messaging, or through social media channels. We’ve found that writing or texting isn’t an effective way of offering advice when complex or serious life issues are involved. As an alternative, we encourage you to speak about your situation with one of our counselors (at no cost to you). Just contact us at 1-855-771-HELP (4357) weekdays from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (MT). The Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone will arrange for a counselor to call you back. One of them will be in touch just as soon as they’re able. You may also request a callback by visiting our Counseling Consultation & Referrals page - bit.ly/3olAU3N. We hope this is helpful.

I think you should let them know that cursing around you won't be tolerated. In my opinion, that's just basic respect as their mother in law. I wouldn't dare use bad language in the presence of my mom or dad, so I wouldn't do it with my in laws. Your daughters should address them as well and maybe you should address your daughters for allowing such disrespectful behavior. The nerve!!
