HEALTHY MILLET UPPUMAV//ഹെൽത്തി മിലറ്റ് ഉപ്പുമാവ്

MILLET UPPUMAVU
Ingredients
1. Millets(either 1 millet or mixed ) 1 cup
2. Ginger chopped 1 piece
3. Green chilli chopped 4 -5
4. Big onion chopped 1 - 1 ½ cup
5. Grated coconut 1 cup
6. Salt to taste
7. Boiling water 2 -2 ¼ cup
SEASONING
1. Oil 2-3 tbsp
2. Blackgram dal 2 tsp
3. Channa dal (opt) 2 tsp
4. Curry leaves plenty
PREPARATION
1. Heat oil , season with the ingredients , sauté 2-4 followed by the washed drained millets, till really hot
2. Add the boiling water, salt and half of the grated coconut, stir and cook till done. If using pressure cooker (2 whistles)
3. Open, stir adding the remaining coconut , garnish with plenty of squeezed curry leaves.

    Very much available in TN.. we made idli, dosa, koozh, biscuits, cookies etc.. we use varagu aval too. All sorts of millets aval are there... that is also available here.. it's bought from organic farmer.. we make puttu using aval

    we use this for making paysam, since red rice is a luxury. cooked millets in milk/curd makes a great breakfast or dinner or a carry on lunch. wheat is over marketed and the gluten is 50% , when it is GMO *local grains are a great for our health* oats is commercialized and overmarketed, so is chia seeds which is advertised like crazy. Great for weight loss, after eating all that roti at night ! !

    @@cookingwithsumateacher7665 My guju homeopath introduced me to Jowar and bajra roti. They eat jowar for summer and bajra duing winter. That's their Dinner .Seldom do people know about these millets in Kerala because it is the diet of the landless people . Corn ( GMO ) corn is destroying peoples health so is enriched rice . *We appreciate your voice* I enquired this in the stores of Kottayam and surrounding town - many have not heard this !! The tamil shopkeepers said that they could get it from Tamil Nadu . Can you recommend any ? it would be helpful. Thankyou
