    When making pot pies I use gravy instead of cream of whatever soup. The gravy freezes well and doesn't separate. Gravy also compliments the chicken, beef , hamburger or whatever protein is used much better than cream of soups.

    Not sure if you know about the Souper cubes or not. They are silicone molds that you can freeze soup or anything in then remove and put individual squares of soup (2 cups) worth into your freezer bag. Wash and repeat! I love them. Plus they also sell a ramekin that fits the frozen cube perfectly for the oven!

    Sharla, you're safe. Typical ice cream that you buy in the grocery store does not have eggs. Custard-based ice cream does have eggs, but the eggs are cooked in the custard before it's run through the ice cream machine.

    Cream of potato soup works great as well if you don't like or can't have cream of celery or cream of mushroom. One of my kids hate mushrooms and also hates the taste of cream of celery, so I would substitute using the cream of potato.

    I use the boxed mashed potatoes to thicken my freezer pot pies or if I don’t have any potato I make the base freezer it in a container then pull it out and thicken it the day of cooking. Cook your filling I use 4 celery stalks, 4-5 big carrots, 1 onion, 3-4 potatoes, 1-2 garlic cloves and 1 cup peas then any cooked meat (I have used 1 pound ground beef, left over pulled pork, chicken or turkey) I add salt, pepper, tyme, garlic & onion powder to your taste. If meet needs cooking I cook it first then add veggies in a pot until soft add broth & cook (I use 2 bullion & hot water as stated on package it’s cheaper) cook until everything soft. Then add potato flakes from instant mashed until desired thickness. This usually makes me 3-4 pies.

    Another reason to have a toaster oven: If you can't bend to get into below counter height surfaces it works great. Dear Ol Ma has osteoporosis and between that and recovery boughts from broken bones we had to rearrange her kitchen for waist height use (a real undertaking). But she could still be independent with a freezer full of meals and a toaster oven to pop them in.

    A little tip: Kale freezes wonderfully so if you buy a large bag of pre washed/chopped kale, throw a handful in every meal. It doesn't have the flavor of spinach so melds well. Is very heart healthy and adds fiber and greens to your plate. You can just put the whole bag from the store in the freezer or add it on top of whatever you are planning to freeze. Mixed into soups it will loose its vitality so I generally recommend to add it last or include it once the soup is ready to freeze.

I don’t think we have any cookies in the States that has maple syrup in the ingredients. The rollups were great. Every Thanksgiving one of our Apps was turkey, ham and something else rollups or pinwheels. They were frozen and sold near the Holidays. Haven’t seen them in years and everyone loved them. They were the only non-homemade food on the table. I can now bring your rollups along with my stuffing for Thanksgiving. Thank you guys.

    After we had a couple of slices, we could make room on the pie plate and separate the slices. Then I put the lid back on and then into the freezer. They seemed to thaw ok to me. I didn't even wrap them. They didn't last super long because of frost, but it was a way to preserve it for a little while longer without tossing it or eating too much pie at once. Is Paneer the same as or similar to Poutine?

  • @FreezerMeals101

    @FreezerMeals101

    9 ай бұрын

    Paneer is a whey product that has the texture of tofu. It's generally used in Indian cuisine. It's sold in block form near the cheese in the grocery store. It can be ground or cubed and fried. It's a source of protein and is considered vegetarian. Poutine, if you're not familiar, is a dish originating in Montreal. It's French fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. Now there are many ways to try poutine as it is quite mainstream in Canada. I haven't ever seen paneer on poutine but there is a pizza place near me that offers it on their pizza! They have a lot of pizzas that feature Indian cuisine, so that is probably why. I've tried it and it's pretty good.
