Healing With Honey - The Honey Wrap

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This week the Bow Tie Vet Guy heals a kitten with honey. Dr. Mike explains the ancient healing power of honey and sugar with a kitten that suffered from owners trying to DIY treatment. Honey wraps have been around for thousands of years. He also explains why honey is used over stitching a wound, especially in places where skin is already tight.
Do not attempt at home. This kitten is an example of a DIY treatment by pet owners gone wrong. Don't do it! Open wounds should be treated medically. This is for information purposes only. Dr. Mike McClenahan is a medical professional and this kitten was treated with honey as well as antibiotics and pain management under the watchful care of medical professionals. Honey wraps and sugar wraps are also used to start the process of closing wounds in preparation for surgery. Again, do not attempt at home.

I used coconut oil on my dog's wound from a burst abscess, and, it was amazing how quickly it healed. I kept the wound clean, and applied coconut oil (letting it melt in my hand) to the edge of the wound. I use honey as well, for both myself, my family and my pets.

This is why I love honey. I have it in my tea in place of sugar. I apply it as a facepack. And have 2 teaspoons of it everyday for immunity. And only pure honey works. It's important to preserve bees 🐝 not only for honey but for our food as well

That poor little kitty. My cat had a nasty wound like that and as much as it sucked paying $600 for stitches having him be in pain and die from infection would have been a million times worse. Nice work Doc!

I used iodine and sugar paste for my mother's bedsore years ago and her Dr was amazed at how well it healed it..come to find out that in the 60's & 70's nursing homes would make up tubs of this concoction for patient's bed sores... not soo much now days but it worked for my mother..Now...my 15 year old kitty Tigger has a bad wound on his neck, not like this kitten in the video but an open bloody but not more than superficial wound..not a hole like in video..I have wondered about honey on it..Now I feel better about honey..I won't use sugar and iodine like on mom's bed sore..I fear that would send Tigger into shock!!

You can't beat the ability of sugar to feast on bacteria in a wound that won't heal, we've used sugar mixed with betadyne for a long time on our farm for both animal & human, it does a wonder

Honey is amazing! I’ve been doing Marine mammal (seal/sea lion) rescue up in Northern California for a decade and it’s our main standard in wound care. That and some second skin water proof bandages and especially the young ones heal well.

We were able to heal a wound on my elderly mother with honey colloid! She was diabetic and under direct physician supervision! It is a natural remedy that is very overlooked❤️ I love that you all were able to show this on a rather large wound on that adorable kitten❤️ You and your whole staff are fabulous, Bow Tie Vet Guy👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️💕💕😻😽😽

Hi there, I'm a student in Singapore currently taking Diploma in Optometry. I'm extremely passionate and determined to be a vet however there are no vet schools in my country and I'm unsure of the process/requirements to enter overseas university. What advice would you give me? 😊 Thanks in advance!!

So the risk of C. botulinum in honey is just in cases of ingestion? Probably not as much of a environment to grow topically?

Kitterz I know I’m my practice we use medical grade Manuka Honey from New Zealand. The bees feed of teatree bushes and the NZ government has a uMF factor. For example a UMF 15 or more kills MRSA. The US VA has studied and and found it true.
