Healing Soul and Body | Luke 5 | Gary Hamrick

8/15/2021
Life can take a toll on a person’s soul and body. Such was the case of a man in the Bible who desperately needed help. He had four friends who cared about him enough to bring him to Jesus. The encounter the man had with Jesus would dramatically change his life-both spiritually and physically. We can experience the same today when we have a personal encounter with Jesus too. He is still actively healing people, soul and body.
00:00 - Welcome
00:43 - Introduction
13:29 - 1) God is always more interested in the eternal healing of your soul than in the temporary healing of your body.
16:06 - 2) God alone can forgive sins; thus Jesus forgives sins because Jesus is God
21:15 - 3)God still heals people today but not always the way we want (Miraculously • Medically • Eternally)
27:42 - 4) Friends help friends find Jesus

My favorite miracle in the new testament! First time I read it I couldn’t stop laughing crying and I thought that the sick man had real good friends, that they probably grow up together kind of thing, it is a beautiful uplifting recounting of the wonderful miracles that Jesus did

I can remember at the age of twelve being in our Religious Education lesson, and after hearing this story, drew an illustration of this event. I got an A-grade. I was over the moon, it was my first A grade. So I love hearing this story....

Cheryl, I've been at the place where my strength gave out. I couldn't take one more thing. That's the place where God takes over in miraculous ways we can't understand. Claim His Word in His Scripture. Psalm 27:1 The Lord is the stronghold of my life Psalm 86:17 You Lord have helped me and comforted me. Psalm 119:76 May Your unfailing love be my comfort. Matthew 11:27 Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest . Hebrews 5:8 Jesus was the Son of God but He still suffered and through His suffering, He learned to obey whatever God says. These are some of the verses I found to help me. I read them over and over. Search for those that speak to you and claim them for your life. I will pray for you.

John 5:1-17 there is not one word written that Jesus jumped over, walked by those who were sick ignoring others to get to the one. NO ONE! The words describe the pool and the people around it nothing on how Jesus picked. In this particular passage, this is the only place in the Gospels where Jesus ASKS one if he wanted healing. The only place. And with everything that has been modeled for us in all the other Gospels, do you honestly believe if someone else raised his hand for healing, that Jesus would have turned His back to walk away. “oh stay in your sickness it better for you???? “ The reason Jesus asks is because the man did not know who He was. Probably most around the pool did not Know. You are adding assumption to this passage to fit your belief on healing by adding the words jump over. Myself I believe this is in line with Mark and His teaching in Nazereth where He could not heal due to lack of belief. But in no way with compassion of God, did Jesus just simply leave the others….Think the word going forth if He had ignored all the others? You believe that there would have been no damage to His ministry? Oh He left the others sick as they cried out to Him. May be in our modern belief of jesus we can; but i do not. Please do not add words to Scripture. I read the NASB and then the NKJ for clarity if needed. Neither say jump, walk over. And Yet, you do not mention that the man was only person Jesus asked if they wanted healing… Breaks my heart because I have been listening to you recently and love your teaching…now if I continue, I will have to check your quoting of Scripture if it is not on the screen where I can read.
