I'm from Zamboanga, I'm a tausug and majority here is for Duterte! It doesn't matter if he's from a different ethnic tribe, we want change in government, that's what we are after, we want a decisive & strongman with a heart for the poor, not those oligarchs feeding themselves with corruption. Despite all accusations/allegations, we are still for him, because for all we know those who were left behind in pre-election survey keeps dragging him down and throwing issues as May 9 nears.

Duterte employs "pragmatic governance" here in Davao. You conform with the law and you live in peace. You commit a wrong and you expect the essence of the "will" of the authorities here in Davao to go after you. It is like there is this shadow of "Duterte" in your everyday activities. So people in Davao, many of them, are disciplined. I hope this Duterte's governance will be shared to the whole country.

Matagal na kaming frustrated sa mga namumuno dyan sa malacanang. Lack of opportunity para sa lahat,very poor governance and rampant corruption. Eh yang mga kasabayan nya ( except Defensor ) unang bukas pa lang ng bibig alam mo ng namumulitika as in nangbobola tulad ng mga nauna. Banat ng banat di naman kaya...pag sobra yaman na sasabayan na ng alis or lipat ng pwesto. Samantalang kaming mga mhihirap na nagsusumikap lumalaban ng parehas, mas lalong naghihirap...anak ng kamatis kayo!

+jb la There is no phenomenon. Duterte was just using an old communist strategy. Public mind conditioning. Two years in the making starting from "ayoko tumakbo" stage, and then "Pagbagao" stage. When people always see their supposed leader every day or every week in a positive light, their mind gets conditioned. they will accept everything about him and the set backs that happens to him like reckless use of words etc. are overcome by the mental state of acceptance. That is why the likes of Mao Chedong who torture his enemies managed to stay in his position and his people would still be willing to die for him.

To create fear is better than to be loved for love requires an unending obligation for it not to end. But fear will serve as a deterrent for people who do not follow their leader. Should hold good virtues (in action not in words and failed promises); 4. Should never turn to outside auxiliary or mercenary units, but always rely on his (or her) own arms; and 5. Should be intelligent (wittiness and unpredictable but cunning). These principles were written by Nicolo Machiavelli and it still hold true today.
