A proper home for my shop headphones.
Made out of Walnut, Sapele and Copper Tubing. I turned the shape of the base on the lathe before splitting it apart and cutting out the drawer on the bandsaw. The paper spacers glued in between the layers hold extremely well but can be pryed apart when needed. I removed the glue and paper with a little lacquer thinner and a razor blade.
The copper tubing was hammered to get it a more interesting texture and glued into the base and headphone support with 2 part epoxy. The entire thing, including the copper tube, was coated with Briwax.
The drawer was coated in Suede Flock. First you the parts with a special black paint adhesive, then you dust on very fine suede fibers and let it dry. It hides all the cut lines from the bandsaw and gives it a very professional look.

Dustin Penner it looks like really nice👍 you make nice videos. I'm a liddle KZreadr of steel working and my videos are not so good. What can I do that my videos are famer than now?
Great project and cool editing! Love the contrast in wood and the copper accents. Really nice build!
I am a high school Industrial Arts Teacher. One of my students saw this and is now making his own. All the best
Very stylish, I love it. I was thinking you were going to run the charger up the tube. Probably for the best that you didn't.
Loved how you made the ambient sound louder when you took your earmuffs off, it was a really nice touch!

haha! thanks! I was on the fence about how loud to go. I didnt want to blow anyone's ear drums out!
I've made this stand twice now, and it is a lot harder than he makes it look - great job , this stand is a great item
I love the combination of split turning technique using the paper with the bandsaw box type drawer. Very nicely done.

Wow. Just, wow. If I weren't so prideful, I would articulate my veneration for not only your skill as a carpenter and woodworker, but the creativity and humor you put into these videos as well. But I am prideful, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

Awesome build and cool music.
Awesome result! And man that's a great trick to use a paper divider so you could separate the pieces after you turned them to identical size--and the piece of tape as an index mark was clever too!

That stuff gives it a pro look!
Dustin, fantastic work as always. I loved the build, but I ESPECIALLY loved the editing on the video. I thought the paper in between the layers looked really neat, makes me want to try it on some segmented pieces for a super thin crisp high contrast line. maybe find some way to make the paper zig-zag up a pen or something. Keep up the fantastic work!
impressed with this build, Dustin. I love the design. great job dude.

You're not the only one! I was tempted, but the bandsaw box is bad way to keep secrets. The cuts aren't clean enough from a bandsaw.
Hi Dustin! Would be cool to see some products in copperas! Maybe a old fashioned clock? Or a radio 😁thanks for a good show!

very nice.
Amazing video! When you said the headphone stand had storage I wasn't sure if it meant PC storage, like a hard drive, haha. I spend too much time on the computer.
If I end up copying some of your style of videos, take it as a compliment! I love the style you did in this video. Especially the music transition. Well done sir, and I like the stand too :P
