Heading up to one of the biggest iron ore mines in the world with the CAT V8
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Headed up to the iron ore mines in the Pilbara, North-West Western Australia with 2 trailers of sleepers from a factory near Melbourne.
You'll see some big trucks and trains.

As a railfan who shares an interest in big diesels in general, that railway footage was the icing on the cake. 2:53 - BHP 4340 and other are EMD SD70ACe/LCs powered by an EMD 16-710G3 16cyl 2-stroke engines. 3:20 - Rio Tinto 9121 and other are GE ES44ACis powered by 12cyl 4-stroke GE Evolution Series diesels (GEvo) which is why we call them "Gevos" here in the States. You will notice "AC" in the model numbers for both. The diesels spin big alternators, which power AC motors "in the wheels" using inverters. Great video, thank you for uploading!
From a old retired lorry driver in England I have got to give it to you men,all the best.
Good to see you back Chris, the old girl sounds as sweet as it was 20 years ago. That air start gets em every time.
You Australian drivers are awesome. So many levels above my skills of 38 years. I salute you all 🫡
Australia is really a hardworking country ,,,enjoying this deep in the heart of Africa
Great video mate, from the U.S.A. A very scenic tour of the outback. Many of the old time drivers miss the cab overs in the states.
Tough place to work in,, need reliable vehicles in extreme conditions everything is big, trucks,, trains what an environment,, big respect from Northern Ireland ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
you really do that country justice with that drone bud, well done. Its hard to conceptualise a 170km long straight piece of tarmac. Mind boggling.
Thanks for the footage mate. I’m from America, but have ties to Australia. It’s interesting to see videos of the places people like Slim Dusty sang about. The Old Nullah Road, and Marble Bar and all the rest. Nice sounding CAT motor.
Good to see you posting again
Amazing those huge and long and heavy trucks in Australia. And the country is so vast. Thank you. I am from Austria.

Great to see the K100 is still going strong - love these videos. Lost count how many times I have watched '3 mins of V8 Cat'
Great to see you back again! Australia has fascinated me for years, and you give some of the most ground level perspectives of it. Thank you!
Great video as allways and big plus for music choice! Sallute from a European trucker. U have a Big Big Big respect from this part of the world.
I have massive respect here in America for truck drivers, and most of their trucks are often around 37 metric tons gross, though we have those that go over regularly. But you guys pulling 70+ metric tons gross, for often WAY further than we do in America, you guys rock. Also, y'all have some down right gorgeous trucks too, and that CAT V8 sounds glorious. We don't have many of those in trucks, the two 3408 engines I have seen in person were mobile generator sets.

I've driven across America several times...now I have a true test drive the loop around Australia. Really enjoy that air start bud.
Epic 👌🏼 Sat here at 2am 🇬🇧 Your wagons sounds so good compared to the shite that’s on our roads nowadays. Even v8’s sound like hair dryers

the soundtrack (drone) is most awesome!
Otherwordly and fascinating. Truly cool trucks, too. Cheers from Canada.
Hey buddy, thank you for posting this awesome video. I love the outback and the wonderful scenery. 😀😀👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
G'day Chris, thanks for posting another great video. I drove a K100 for Bruce Jahnke back in the early 2000's for a while, doing refrigerated into Brisbane 6 days/nights a week. It had a six cylinder Cat fitted, I don't rightly recall what designation it was but we nicknamed it 'Chainsaw'. The turbo was so freakin' loud in that thing you could hardly hear the UHF, hence the nickname.
great to see a video from you again, interesting to see how trucking works in AUS, you should make more videos, greetings from the Netherlands

Awesome Rig and Awesome sounding v8!!! The rail renewals crew I work for is at BHP Yandi, I recognise the park bay at the front gate in the video. The sleepers you have are for the last upgrades of the MAC Railway Line which has been a 2 year project for the Renewals crew with periodic Shut-downs of reconditioning works, new sleepers, new ballast, new rail at times. Where I took the video of the BHP train was about 80 kms south of Pt Hedland on Pippingarra Rd. Most of the sleepers went to Yandi, we had about 18 months work, all finished from out of the east. They’ve got the sleeper plant up an running at Pt Hedland apparently.

Apparently we are one of the most urbanised countries in the world, the vast amount of people live within 100 kms of the east coast. Before covid, most people would go on vacation overseas before seeing our own country. Probably because the distances are huge and everything is so expensive.
